Re: [AI] battery status in the Angel book reader

But it does not speak out when batter is full while charging unlike cellphone.
Moreover, I found it hangs when a large text file, say, one MB is opened.
Any experiences?

hi friends I read about maltreatment to many of the members daily it
is my view that it is high time that we find some concrete solutions
.we are citizens of a free country and need to be respected thus
.there are many legislations which protects the women, SC ,st against
harassments ,exploitation and maltreatment.it is thus suggested that
there should be a legislation for the disabled people which protect us
and safeguards our rights .the acts of maltreatments must be defined
as offence and punishment be provided for it .There must be public
officers appointed who shall register and investigate complaints and
pronounce punishments .There should be a national commission which
shall overview the protection of the human rights of the disabled
people.

Re: [AI] Braille keyboard, computer games

2011-03-28 Thread Ruchi Patil
Dear Mr Bhavani Shankar,

Actually he uses the computer keyboard at school. However, he types by the
location of the key on the keyboard and not touch typing. For this reason, I
thought giving him a Braille computer keyboard with those 6 keys and additional
direction keys, may help speed and also encourage learning Braille. There is
one such keyboard by portset. What is your opinion on this?

Well, I don't know if there is any Braille keyboard. Webel Mediatronics
supplies a mask with keyboard which covers up all keys except six for
writing Braille on the computer. It should not be encouraged at all. Though
your child may take some time to mastder the whole keyboard, but in the long
run it will help him. So, don't go for Braille keyboard. Consult your
nearest institution for practical help.

There are some accessible computer games, as Amar has suggested. Games
attract children towards computer. Try other indoor games also, particularly
those you can play with him.

Please let me know, guys. Thanks a lot and have a fun week ahead.

Re: [AI] suggestion ,that this forum may be redesigned

2011-03-28 Thread Ayush Bhutani

Dear Rakesh
Applying filters is a simple exercise but a very useful one as well
Steps to apply filters using Gmail account:
1. Go into Gmail Settings and select Label tab
2. Create a Label giving it a desired name.
3. Then go to Filters tab in Settings.
4. If suppose you want to move a mail to the label created above; you
will have to tell how Gmail should recognize that mail telling a unique
feature about it.
for example if you have selected accessindia in complete mail receit
mode you will fill accessindia@accessindia.org.in in the "TO" textfield
else if you are subscribed to accessindia in digest mode type the same
address in "FROM" textfield
5 Move to next step and skip mails from inbox and transfer to the newly
created label by selecting the label from dropdown menu.

Applying filters in thunderbird:
1 Go to Message menu and select create filter from message
2 In the open window leave default settings except choose "FROM "or "TO"
in first drop down menu and specify accessindia@accessindia.org.in in
the textfield.
3Then in "perform actions" section select move message and the
folder to which you want to move the message and select OK

If you still face any problems contact me on my personal email address

Ayush

I amalso agree on the point that mailing list is the best way to send and
get information for the people because if we have not much time to visit

addition, if someone is interested in some oter ways, then there is

Hello,

Mailing list is the better way of communication. IF purnima has
problem reading mails she can switch to digest mode or can create a
seprate folder.
If asked me, I feel reading and deleting mails in my outlook is more
easy and less time taking for me then opening a SNS and surfing on it
and reading messages and replying back to it.

I am sorry, but I really don't have time to go to Face Book or
Inclusive plannet, then log in and then go to desired location and
read out messages.
I hardly visit such sites. I guess only then, when I receive reminder
mail from such sites. ha ha ha
I am extremely sorry, if I am sounding rude.

Hello Access Indians,
How are you?
Hope all are fine.
I am back with another problem. Wish we group members will be able to
solve it as soon as possible.
As many of you know, i am appearing for my CA exams in May 2011 for
which i am allowed an undergraduate writer and 30 minutes per hour
extra time. My date sheet is as follows-
7th May - Cost accountancy and financial management
9th May - Taxation
15th May - Information technology and strategic management
My issue is that in Delhi, all the universities are having their
graduation exams in May at the same time during my exams, and hence,
no undergraduate is interested/coming forward to write my exams.
What can i do in this case?
Please note that-
1.A 12th passed wont work as he wont be having the basic knowledge of
the subjects as it is necessary/required for one to explain questions
correctly.
2.I am not allowed by the ICAI to change the writer.
Waiting for your valueable feedback.

[AI] No synthesizer

2011-03-28 Thread Kotian, H P
Hello
Copying a msg below.
Harish Kotian.

Dear Accessindians,
This time I am dropping the mail on behalf of Taha Haaziq, as the name is
dangerous his problem is also dangerous
On a serious note, on Saturday while listening songs, the Jaws stopped
speaking, uninstalled and re-installed after cleaning every component of
freedomscientific from registry and every possible location, many a times.
Nothing worked. Then installed every Jaws from version 10 to 12. But, no luck.
Tried running narrator too, but no sound with any of the synthesizer including
Microsoft Anna (the default synthesizer on windows 7).
Sound card is working perfectly all right, we can hear music, watch movies etc.
What could be the solution of this super problem?
I expect your quick help as we all can understand that without access to
computer from so many days can be a great loss.
Thanks and Regards
Amar Jain.

See, one solution is to go and check in the archives of accessindia, whereby
you will be able to check whether your mail has reached to the list or not.

Re: [AI] suggestion ,that this forum may be redesigned

2011-03-28 Thread Amar Jain

I fully agree with Swati mam's opinion.
What's more, if you bring this forum to social networking sites, there will
be more privacy concerns from what already we have now.
Email is something which is the most easy thing to learn for everybody, and
sites like facebook are rather little complicated to learn due to
accessibility and design challenges.

Hello,
Bhawani Sir is right.

Also, these are my thoughts, so just felt like expressing it.

but Harish is it possible to encrypt the display of mail I.Ds when a

What you can do is to make a seperate folder for AccessIndia mails.
Next you can set a rule to move all the mails from the list using the
criteria where subject line contains [AI]
This way your in-box shall always be free from the list mails.
