Cambridge Advance Learner dictionary supports jaws well. Even Encarta 2005
is also accessable with jaws. You can get it from normal book stalls.

[AI] Accessible Currency (note coin) input

2011-12-21 Thread Mohammed Asif Iqbal
Wednesday, December 21, 2011

Dear all,

In continuation to my earlier Email regarding my meeting with RBI governor;
I did meet with General Manager Currency management and General Manager RBI,
Kolkata. Key highlights of the meeting is as follows:-Accessible currency
note

* Meeting regarding accessible note and coins were held earlier in
Mumbai and Subhash karnik , NAB representative , attended this meeting and
advised measures on how to make accessible notes.
* Additional input which I gave and discussed that size variance of
not of Rs. 10, Rs. 100, Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 should be continued
* Tactile shape in currency note should be located at more prominent
location within the note.
* Size of tactile features such as triangle, rectangle, square on
respective currency note of Rs. 500, Rs. 100, and Rs. 50, etc. should be
enhanced.
* Quality parameter of tactile durability should be superior in order
to stand various cycles of circulations, soil, etc.

Accessible coin

* There should be variation in size in Rs. 1 coin, Rs. 2 coin and
50paise coin
* Coins should stress more on feeling /touch rather than visual.
* Thickness should also vary according to coins of different
dimension.

I have informed RBI team about our access India 2000 blind/ visually
impaired who would be eager to provide more input on how to make our
currency accessible to blind/ visually impaired citizens of our country.
May I request you to kindly offer input on this crucial matter by Monday
December 26, 2011 and I will consolidate all input and forward it to RBI
team. RBI governor along with his currency team are determined to design
accessible solution and they hope to implement this solution early next
year. Guys, sincere appeal to you all for grabbing this opportunity to have
your say to make our live easier.

Thanks and regards.

Asif

Internet Explorer: Disable Automatic Loading of Images
If the user is accessing the Internet from a slower connection such as
a dial-up modem, the user can disable images to allow Web pages to
load more quickly.

1. Click Tools and select Internet Options from the drop-down menu.

2. Select the Advanced tab.

3. Scroll down the list until the Multimedia heading is reached.
Uncheck the box next to Show pictures.
4. Click OK.

Web pages will no longer automatically load pictures.
Thank you!

[AI] Excel again

2011-12-21 Thread Geetha Shamanna
Hello all,

First of all, thanks to everyone who responded to my Excel questions
earlier.

I have some specific problems which seem to have aggravated since I switched
to Jaws 12 a few months ago. I use Jaws 12 with Excel 2003.

Below is a list of some of the problems I am encountering. Would greatly
appreciate workarounds.

1. I am no longer able to move from cell to cell using the arrow keys. Jaws
neither speaks nor moves the focus to the next cell when I press the right
or left arrow keys. I therefore use the tab key for this purpose, which is
very inconvenient.

2. I am unable to select and highlight specific portions of text in a cell
in a particular colour. When I try that, the entire cell is highlighted.

3. I am no longer able to set up Jaws in such a way that column titles are
automatically read out. This used to be possible in Jaws 11.

I am wondering whether switching to Office 2007 would resolve some of my
problems. Since I work on Excel files fairly regularly, I would like to sort
this out as soon as possible, and all help will be appreciated.

Many thanks.
Geetha

Re: [AI] Excel again

2011-12-21 Thread Zujar Shabbir Kanchwala
Check the state of ScrollLock on your system. Toggle it to Off state.
You should be able to navigate with arrow keys and also select
specific text in a cell in Edit mode.

For JAWS to speak column titles, place the cursor in the row
containing heading/titles and press CTRL+ALT+INSERT+C. You would hear
JAWS say something like: Setting Column Titles row range to N, where
N is the row number. Now JAWS would speak column titles automatically.

Below is a list of some of the problems I am encountering. Would greatly

 1. I am no longer able to move from cell to cell using the arrow keys. Jaws
neither speaks nor moves the focus to the next cell when I press the right

 very inconvenient.

 2. I am unable to select and highlight specific portions of text in a cell

 3. I am no longer able to set up Jaws in such a way that column titles are
automatically read out. This used to be possible in Jaws 11.

I am wondering whether switching to Office 2007 would resolve some of my

Subject: [AI] Accessible Currency (note coin) input

Wednesday, December 21, 2011

Dear all,

In continuation to my earlier Email regarding my meeting with RBI
governor;
I did meet with General Manager Currency management and General Manager
RBI,

December 26, 2011 and I will consolidate all input and forward it to RBI
team. RBI governor along with his currency team are determined to design
accessible solution and they hope to implement this solution early next
year. Guys, sincere appeal to you all for grabbing this opportunity to
have

your say to make our live easier.

Thanks and regards.

Asif

Re: [AI] Excel again

2011-12-21 Thread Geetha Shamanna
Hi,

Thanks. I use a Dell laptop which does not seem to have a scroll lock key at
all.

Also, I did try highlighting the text in a cell while in the edit mode.
However, Excel lets you choose the formatting of a cell or a row, and not
specific text in a cell. There must be some other way of highlighting
selected text in a different colour.

Finally, ctrl-insert-alt-c for reading column titles did work for me in Jaws
11, but no longer works in Jaws 12.

Any other suggestions?
