Re: [AI] Using Ovi maps in Nokia E6

2012-04-15 Thread Pranay Gadodia
Hi,
I came across the FAQs for Ovi maps with mobile speak on Code Factory's
website, and found it to be quite detailed, well researched and addressing so
many issues we face. It also has information about downgrading the ovi maps
software to 3.04 in various phones, which is best supported by mobile speak now
(true for Talks, too, as mentioned by Pranav).
Interested people can read the specific question "How do I upgrade or downgrade
to another Ovi Maps version?", at
http://www.codefactory.es/en/products.asp?id=414#1.6.

Go to the top of the webpage to read other questions and their answers.

I am not sure if Nuance has done such good documentation for its users. If the
downgrading works, thank Code Factory!

best,
Pranay.

Re: [AI] Samsung announced Android Dual SIM phones

2012-04-15 Thread Shona Man
I think no software can beat talks elequence voice. I think the voice
of these android software doesn't stand neer by talks. Of course these
are free ware but if you see the cost of talking software being
provided by mobile speek for android, its more than 4 thousands
rupees! While we can get talks just for 1800 rupees now a days. I hope
talks will support android soon.
I am sure android can not provide such accessibility as provided by
talks till now.

[AI] Need help on a strange issue with typing.

2012-04-15 Thread Ajay Minocha
Hi friends,
I have a visually challanged friend who is facing a strainge problem
with her netbook and desktop. I am pasting the message which describes
the complete problem.
Here it starts

The cursor moves right when I press left arrow key and moves left when
I press right arrow key.
And one problem is when I press backspace for deleting any character
from the middle of a sentence it deletes the right character rather
than the left one which it should and
Then if you continue typing anyway ignoring the problem there in the
middle of the sentence ,
it keeps deleting the text on the right and continues typing over it.
She is using office 2003 with win7 starter in netbook and windows XP
in her desktop. Please try to solve this problem. Your valluable
suggestions will be highly appreciated.
thanks in advance

Re: [AI] Need help on a strange issue with typing.

2012-04-15 Thread Mujtaba Merchant
Hi Ajay,

Have been trying to find a solution for this issue. Unfortunately, there is
no tech forum that has reported such an issue. There were some posts on
applications like word and powerpoint where the arrow keys on the keyboard
behaved inverted. The solutions there were not convincing, they mainly
talked about language settings for those documents or applications. Also the
keyboard settings in control panel under settings. I will do some more
homework on the same and get back to you. It is truly a strange problem and
a challenging one too!

Re: [AI] Need help on a strange issue with typing.

2012-04-15 Thread SYED IMRAN
Yes looks very strange to me as well. What brand of a netbook is it? is it
Samsung?
I think your friend must have pressed some key in combination with FN key.
I've come across somewhat a similar keyboard layout on a Toshiba laptop
where the user pressed FN+f11 and the keyboard layout would change after
that.
One more reason for this issue could be change in display layout. Can you
have somebody check if the display is up side down? If so then you could use
control + alt + arrow keys to set the display right and check if this
resolves the issue.

Re: [AI] Map data for Ovi maps

2012-04-15 Thread harish

Hi
You can also save the landmarks onto desktop or share it with friends using
the sent to option to blue-tooth.

Of course, if you are recieving it on desktop you need to have blue-tooth on
the desktop.

Thanks very much Pranay for this great contribution. Now one question
I have to ask: I have save some land marks of my choice in the past.
Now how do I copy those land marks in the new maps data? I don’t want
to lose them.

On 4/14/12, Srikanth Kanuri wrote:

do they work on Bel?

On 4/14/12, Pranay Gadodia wrote:

Hi all:
As requested by few AI members, I downloaded the data for ovi maps day
before using the map loader software in my computer. I connected a nokia
c5
for the purpose, so believe as earlier it should work with ovi maps 3.03
&

3.04. The data shared an year ago was also reported to work with version
3.01. If someone experiments by using it with other versions, do share
the

results.

Map downloader is inaccessible with jaws, and the data is free to use, so
sharing this with all.

Download link for the data: http://www.sendspace.com/file/j6tn10

Its a 254 MB .zip file called 'Ovi maps 3.03, 3.04 data for India 12
April

2012.zip'. Unzipping it would give you a folder of 311 MB.

Sometime ago, I also downloaded 10 voices for the same versions which too
are free. These have English (all), Hindi, Urdu voices and the beeps only
option.
Download link for the voices folder (zip file of 35 MB):
http://www.sendspace.com/file/uaj9ud

For those who would not know its utility and how to use it, having the
map

data offline in the phone not only saves GPRS costs, but also the map
software responds faster during navigation etc.

How to use:

1. Make sure the phone has the suggested Ovi Maps version. In few phones
I
have seen it the About page of Ovi maps, which is inaccessible to a
screen

reader. So take sighted assistance.
2. After downloading this file, unzip it in your PC. It has 16 folders.
3. Connect your phone to PC through USB in mass storage mode.
4. Using your computer browse to your memory card, CITIES, diskcache.
Here

you would find same 16 folders apart from other folders and files. But
their
total size would be less than 311 MB. In case the new data files do not
work, as a fallback you might like to move the current 16 folders from
your
memory card to your computer.
5. Now copy the downloaded 16 folders of 311 MB in the diskcache folder
in

memory card.
6. Unplug your phone from the computer, open Ovi maps and search for
cities/states you haven't searched or seen in it before. If it is working
fine, which I believe it should, it should show those maps instantly
without
the need to download map data of those places using GPRS.

To use the voices, follow the above directions again for this folder.

Hope this helps.

Pranay.

Re: [AI] Giving Presentations: Checking visibility of text on screen and scroling accordingly?

2012-04-15 Thread Abdul Razique Khan
Hi Amar,

Well I'm not aware of any feature in Jaws as such, but I guess there's one
in Dolphin Supernova, wherein the text at the cursor location gets
highlighted. Talking about an alternative method for Jaws users, what I
usually do is highlight the text I am referring to, which makes it easy for
the sighted person to locate the text on the screen. This may not be a very
good idea when it comes to delivering formal presentations though.

Warm Regards,
Abdul

Subject: [AI] Giving Presentations: Checking visibility of text on screen
and scroling accordingly?

Dear Accessindians,

I am refering to a situation where the screen reader is able to read
the content of screen, though not necessarily the content of screen is
visible to a sighted person unless we scrole down or up according to
the place of the text in the document.

It is also a fact that visibility of the content on any screen depends
on the size of the screen.

It becomes important when giving any presentation, or when showing
anything (web page) or (pdf) on screen to sighted person, to make sure
that the particular text / column you are talking about is in focus on
screen and is available for them to view.

Is there any feature in Jaws to see whether the text which you are
talking about is visible on screen currently or not, and whether you
need to scrole accordingly or not?

Or, can we define the size of screen in Jaws so that when in a
document the matter reaches that defined size, Jaws alerts you to
scrole down?

Using jaws curser and any feature associated with it is not a comfortable
idea.
Can anybody suggest any workaround if the feature doesn't exist?

Looking forward for healthy discussion.

Regards

Subject: [AI] Map data for Ovi maps

Hi all:
As requested by few AI members, I downloaded the data for ovi maps day before
using the map loader software in my computer. I connected a nokia c5 for the
purpose, so believe as earlier it should work with ovi maps 3.03 & 3.04. The
data shared an year ago was also reported to work with version 3.01. If someone
experiments by using it with other versions, do share the results.

Map downloader is inaccessible with jaws, and the data is free to use, so
sharing this with all.

Download link for the data: http://www.sendspace.com/file/j6tn10

Its a 254 MB .zip file called 'Ovi maps 3.03, 3.04 data for India 12 April
2012.zip'. Unzipping it would give you a folder of 311 MB.

Sometime ago, I also downloaded 10 voices for the same versions which too are
free. These have English (all), Hindi, Urdu voices and the beeps only option.
Download link for the voices folder (zip file of 35 MB):
http://www.sendspace.com/file/uaj9ud

For those who would not know its utility and how to use it, having the map data
offline in the phone not only saves GPRS costs, but also the map software
responds faster during navigation etc.

How to use:

1. Make sure the phone has the suggested Ovi Maps version. In few phones I have
seen it the About page of Ovi maps, which is inaccessible to a screen reader.
So take sighted assistance.
2. After downloading this file, unzip it in your PC. It has 16 folders.
3. Connect your phone to PC through USB in mass storage mode.
4. Using your computer browse to your memory card, CITIES, diskcache. Here you
would find same 16 folders apart from other folders and files. But their total
size would be less than 311 MB. In case the new data files do not work, as a
fallback you might like to move the current 16 folders from your memory card to
your computer.
5. Now copy the downloaded 16 folders of 311 MB in the diskcache folder in
memory card.
6. Unplug your phone from the computer, open Ovi maps and search for
cities/states you haven't searched or seen in it before. If it is working fine,
which I believe it should, it should show those maps instantly without the need
to download map data of those places using GPRS.

To use the voices, follow the above directions again for this folder.

Hope this helps.

Pranay.

I don't want
to lose them.

thanks friends, but after alt control f i am unable to return to the
main body of the document inspite of pressing escape.
more help is needed.
much thanks.

If you are using MS word 2003 then press control+alt+f, for insurting
footnote, as discussed above. The cursor will automatically land into
the area where u have to write the footnote, remember no need to give
your numbering as it by its own takes the numbering. After writing the
footnote just press application butten and press G, by doing so you
will come again in the main text area where you are writing your
paragraph.
However one doubt regarding it is in my mind, if any body can solve
it? suppose I insurted the footnote and now I want to edit it, and for
doing it I want to go to the same footnote for making necessary
correction in it, how is that possible? Remember, we can go to it
manually by pressing down arrow, but here I am asking about any short
key combination.

On 4/13/12, zoher wrote:

note: a foot note number will appear on the place where your curzer is

note,
put an extra space before the word where you want to insert a note.
deleting the foot note: just put your curzer between the text and the
reffrance number, press shift+left arrow twice and press delete button.
your
foot note will be deleted.
note to bring the list of foot note press insert+shift+f.

more clarification skype me.
