Hi dear!

Why are you interested to be holded or guided by your friends? Why
don't you try to be independant? You should use stick to avoid
accidants. To think like you is to be burden on someone, your
friends. Guide yourself, don't be guided or assisted.

[AI] Copyright amendment finally through

2012-05-22 Thread Xavier's Resource Centre for the Visuall St. Xavier's College

Dear All,

I am writing this email soon after the Lok Sabha passed the Amendment to the
Copyright Act 1957. It has been a very interesting experience working on this
Amendment and seeing it approved. Six years ago when the XRCVC first got in to
the process, we never realized that the road ahead was so complex and would
take so many twists and turns. At last it is through and we wait the
Presidential approval and the final Gazette notification.

I'd like to thank so many people and organizations that have helped make this
possible. To start with, the work of Late Prof Vinod Sena who had made a
deposition to Parliamentarians prior to 2006. I would like to thank
organizations who supported the representation we had worked on as part of the
Publication Access Co-ordination Committee (PACC). Simultaneously the Centre
for Internet and Society (CIS) also started putting on pressure. We had many
ups and downs largely as a result of the constant transfers of Copyright
Registrars and us having to start the work all over again.

The demand for a suitable Amendment gained more momentum with the DAISY Forum
of India (DFI) demanding the appropriate change. Further, many other
organizations joined as part of the National Access Alliance (NAA). A big thank
you to all of them.

I'd also like to thank the Parliamentary Standing committee who called us and
gave us a patient hearing and in spite of pressure saw logic and merit in our
arguments. Further, a big thank you to our Parliamentarians, many of whom we
contacted personally who made this possible. We acknowledge the very positive
role of Shri Kapil Sibl, Hon’ble Minister of Human Resource and Development and
Mr. G.R. Raghavender, Director - Book Promotion, Copyright , Education Policy,
UNESCO, Indian National Commission International Co-operation Cell /
Registrar – Copyright

A big thank you to Rahul Cherian, Nirmita Narsimhan, Ketan Kothari, Dipendra
Manocha, Kanchan Pamnani, Shamnad Basheer with whom we have had the pleasure of
working, planning and giving shape to this historic Amendment. I'd also like to
place on record XRCVC's gratitude to Sightsavers whose Project Access has
helped make this social advocacy project dream a reality.

Thank you once again one and all.

You can move or resize a window when it is in a normal or restored
state - a window is said to be in a restored state when it is not
maximized/minimized. This can be confirmed by checking if the Restore
option is disabled in the context menu that appears by pressing
ALT+SPACEBAR, disabled means the window is already in a restored state
and enabled means it is not. If Restore option is enabled then press
ENTER on it to Restore the window. Steps to Move/Size a window are
 listed below:

 1. Press ALT+SPACEBAR to open the context or control menu for the
 application window in focus.
 2. Select Move or Size option as desired.
 3. Press SHIFT+ARROW keys to move/resize the window as many times you
 want.
 4. Press ENTER to apply changes.

Note that you can press ESCAPE key to reject positioning/sizing
changes before step 4 above. Below are the effects of pressing
 SHIFT+ARROW keys in step 3:

 Move:
SHIFT+ARROW key moves the window by one point in the direction of the
arrow key. For example SHIFT+UP moves the window one point above the
 current location.

 Size:
 1. The width changes by pressing SHIFT+LEFT and SHIFT+RIGHT. Pressing
one of these keys for the first time after step 2 determines the
direction in which you wish to change the width. Pressing the same
arrow successively increases the width in that direction while the
opposite arrow decreases the width in that direction.
 2. The height changes by pressing SHIFT+UP and SHIFT+DOWN. Pressing
one of these keys for the first time after step 2 determines the
direction in which you wish to change the height. Pressing the same
arrow successively increases the height in that direction while the
opposite arrow decreases the height in that direction.

Friends,
Let us congratulate one and all who worked tirelessly for this
without which this would haven't happen.

Dear All,

I am writing this email soon after the Lok Sabha passed the Amendment to
the

Copyright Act 1957. It has been a very interesting experience working on
this Amendment and seeing it approved. Six years ago when the XRCVC first
got in to the process, we never realized that the road ahead was so
complex

and would take so many twists and turns. At last it is through and we wait
the Presidential approval and the final Gazette notification.

I'd like to thank so many people and organizations that have helped make
this possible. To start with, the work of Late Prof Vinod Sena who had
made

a deposition to Parliamentarians prior to 2006. I would like to thank
organizations who supported the representation we had worked on as part of
the Publication Access Co-ordination Committee (PACC). Simultaneously the
Centre for Internet and Society (CIS) also started putting on pressure. We
had many ups and downs largely as a result of the constant transfers of
Copyright Registrars and us having to start the work all over again.

The demand for a suitable Amendment gained more momentum with the DAISY
Forum of India (DFI) demanding the appropriate change. Further, many other
organizations joined as part of the National Access Alliance (NAA). A big
thank you to all of them.

I'd also like to thank the Parliamentary Standing committee who called us
and gave us a patient hearing and in spite of pressure saw logic and merit
in our arguments. Further, a big thank you to our Parliamentarians, many
of
whom we contacted personally who made this possible. We acknowledge the
very

positive role of Shri Kapil Sibl, Hon’ble Minister of Human Resource and
Development and Mr. G.R. Raghavender, Director - Book Promotion, Copyright
,

Education Policy, UNESCO, Indian National Commission International
Co-operation Cell / Registrar – Copyright

A big thank you to Rahul Cherian, Nirmita Narsimhan, Ketan Kothari,
Dipendra
Manocha, Kanchan Pamnani, Shamnad Basheer with whom we have had the
pleasure

of working, planning and giving shape to this historic Amendment. I'd also
like to place on record XRCVC's gratitude to Sightsavers whose Project
Access has helped make this social advocacy project dream a reality.

Thank you once again one and all.

Dear Friends,

I missed the first two episodes of Satyamev Jayate, a TV serial on Star+
presented by Aamir Khan. But, when I listened to its third episode, I thought I
must get the earlier episodes and listen to them. So, I began to search for
them and found them. IYesterday I downloaded the first episode which was more

into audio MP3 format. I thought it's such a good one, the members of these
fora would like to benefit from it. This is why I have uploaded it to
sendspace. It's about 60 MB in size. The interested members may download it
from the following link. I promise to upload the second episode tomorrow, and
the third the day after tomorrow. Here is the link:

2012-05-22 Thread bijal patel
hi,
It was happend with me many times when I had little vision in past.
while walking with my friends at diffrent places, they often forgot
to inform me, there are stairs or other things. As soon as I put my
legs on staris, I was really so much confused and afraid. I got angry
many times and told them, please tell me before stairs.
Actually our friends have no mistake in it. Gredually We are habitual
at our known places, so they understand, this is the cause of vision,
so they understand we can hendle this situation.
It's true, to using cane in such cases to avoid such situations and be
independent, but it's also true, really it's not easy to hold white
cane in our hands, specially late and partially blind and young
person. but hey, it's not impossible also. I realise this after
losing entire vision.

On Sunday, for example, I had gone to Subway.
We were just waiting outside and talking.
Then, we decided to go inside.
My friends just went to the table, and I was left in front of the door

When we were going back, they again went ahead and when I accidentally
stepped on a stair, I realized that there was a staircase.
Then, one of them came forward to help me.

Has anyone else faced something like this?
 Can you give any suggestions?

Dear Friends,

I missed the first two episodes of Satyamev Jayate, a TV serial on Star+
presented by Aamir Khan. But, when I listened to its third episode, I
thought I must get the earlier episodes and listen to them. So, I began to
search for them and found them. IYesterday I downloaded the first episode
which was more than 900 MB in size. The video format was of no use to me.
So I converted it into audio MP3 format. I thought it's such a good one,
the members of these fora would like to benefit from it. This is why I
have uploaded it to sendspace. It's about 60 MB in size. The interested
members may download it from the following link. I promise to upload the
second episode tomorrow, and the third the day after tomorrow. Here is the
link:

2012-05-22 Thread Ajay Minocha
Hi Mohit,
it is just lack of communication nothing elce. Yes it is very much
possible that you should clearly tell your friends about your
situation then surely they will be glad to help you. And I totally
agree with Kavitha mam, these so called sighted people don't like that
a person walking with them should carry a white cane. You can also use
cane. I have just started using it in march this year. And honestly
now I feel that cane is my vehicle as well as licence of going out
independently on the road.
