Re: [AI] Access issue with Lotus notes 8.5 calendar

2012-12-13 Thread bhawani shankar verma
hope that the following long 2-3 page hints may be helpfull to you. this
text also contains the text about configuration lotus notes for jaws.

Using JAWS With Lotus Notes

This section provides a general description of how to use Lotus Notes with
JAWS and some general Lotus Notes information.

Note: On the Task bar Properties dialog, uncheck the check box Always On
Top. This allows the Task bar to be visible. This is to allow for the
document windows to maximize properly.

Sometimes it seems that JAWS gets stuck while you are reading a document in
read mode. This happens if you get new mail or the status line changes. To
work around this, press ESC and then ENTER to return to the document.

Sometimes JAWS seems to lose focus in Notes. This may be because a
Properties dialog box is open. Press INSERT+F10 to check if Info.dll is
running. If it is, switch to it and then press ALT+ENTER to close the dialog
box.

Reading Changes on the Status Bar

When information that appears on the status bar changes, JAWS automatically
announces it. If you do not want JAWS to announce changes on the status bar,
press INSERT+V, select Reading Status Line, and press the SPACEBAR to
choose Off. This setting is saved and remains in effect even if you switch
to another program or quit Lotus Notes.

If this verbosity option is enabled, JAWS may say, Untagged, when you read
text that does not have a language tag. If you do not want to hear this
announcement, do the following:

From the File menu, choose Preferences.

Press the RIGHT ARROW key, and then choose Status Bar Preferences.

Select Language and press the SPACEBAR to uncheck this option.

Press ENTER to accept your changes and close the dialog box.

Lotus Notes Controls

All files, documents, and databases are arranged on the screen in what Lotus
Notes calls Line Views. JAWS refers to them as Tree Views and acts upon them
in JAWS' Standard fashion, i.e. speaking Tree view levels, announcing level
changes.

Most forms appear in the Lotus Notes Document classes. In many cases, these
are single windows with embedded controls spoken by MSAA (Microsoft Active
Accessibility).

Navigation Through Lotus Notes

To navigate between the available windows in Lotus Notes databases that are
open, press CTRL+TAB and CTRL+SHIFT+TAB respectively. To navigate between
the frames on a given database or the Welcome page, press F6.

To navigate within a Line view between the available documents, use the
UP/DOWN ARROW keys. Use LEFT/RIGHT ARROW keys to open and close the selected
folder. The Lotus keystrokes are actually the PLUS and MINUS keys on the
keypad, and for this reason the LEFT/RIGHT ARROW keys have been determined
to handle this.

To navigate between the icons on a Graphic frame or to move between the
links and embedded objects within a read-only document, press INSERT+Z and
use the LEFT/RIGHT ARROW keys. When you are finished navigating, press
INSERT+Z again.

The Inline Notes Browser

The Inline Browser works, for the most part, like Internet Explorer. Press
INSERT+F7 to get a list of links, press INSERT+F5 to reformat the Web page.

To use Internet Explorer instead of the Notes browser:

From the File menu, choose Mobile, Edit Current Location.

A document opens. Press CTRL+PAGE DOWN four times until you hear JAWS say,
Choose the web browser you want to use to view web pages. The keystrokes
CTRL+PAGE DOWN and PAGE UP allow you to move through multi-page forms and
dialog boxes in Lotus Notes.

Press SPACEBAR to cycle through the choices until you hear, Internet
Explorer.

Press ESC to close the document. Press SPACEBAR on the Yes button when Notes
asks if you want to save your changes.

Bookmarks

To access a tree view of Lotus Notes bookmarks, you must first edit the
Notes.ini file. This file is normally located in C:\Lotus\Notes\Notes.ini.
Open this file in Notepad and change the first two lines so they look like
the lines below:

[Notes]

AllowBookmarkFocus=1

Save the modified file. You can now press ALT+B from within Lotus Notes to
display bookmarks in a tree view.

Dialogs: In File - Preferences - User Preferences

This is an example but may appear in dialogs with many TAB controls and
pages. Press one of the buttons, such as Basics, International, etc., with
the SPACEBAR. As you tab through the dialog, periodically the type and text
of the Dialog itself is re-spoken. Example: User Preferences Dialog Basics
Button. This performance is rare and sporadic. Currently, to hear the
contents of the combo box within a dialog as its value changes, do not press
ALT+DOWN ARROW to open the list box. Press the UP and DOWN ARROW keys as
with any standard edit combo list or box.

Browser

When a page is first loaded in a new browser session using the inline Notes
with Internet Explorer browser, you may hear the first line or two of the
page being read followed by an interruption of about half a second, followed
by a

Hi friends before cupple of weeks I was traveling from my place to
Delhi with my cousin. My waiting list ticket couldn't be confirmed in
AC chair car therefore we decided to board handicapped coach. But when
we reached at the end of the train we saw that handicapped coach was
full of nondisabled as usual. We tried to seek help from guard in
adjacent compartment, he was very busy in his personal business while
talking on telephone, after our repeated demand he turned to us and
asked the problem, we asked him to vacate the handicapped coach, but
he outrightly refused and showed his inability to do so. Then I asked
a RPF personal standing nearby, but he also refused to do any thing
unless guard gives him note of doing so. I asked the guard that I am
going to complain regarding it and your inability. At the same time I
did complained with the train number and station where it was standing
to number 9717630982. I dont know what happened with in 5 minute,
guard called RPF personal and said to him that I am giving note to u
and vacate the coach. Then that RPF jawan with in 5 minute vacated the
coach using force, surprisingly there was only 1 PH sitting in the
coach.
Friends now what happened at the next station that guard came to us
and asked me my certificate and ticket, I gave him and he took it to
his compartment. He did not returned it untill we reached Delhi, when
I approached him to take my certificate then he very strongly said to
me that it is not our duty to vacate the coach and in future never
complain. I said to him that I know it is under your jurisdiction, if
it is not why you are caring of the complaint? I said, let me follow
my own process if it is not ur duty then why u r worried?
I left him with this hot discussion and warned him that I am very well
aware of my rights.
This complaint number is of Delhi, may be in other circle other number
working.

Subject: [AI] Coach for People with disabilities in Railways - a follow-up

Dear all,
I remember, there was a huge discussion on this earlier. Wondering, if any
of you know updated information.

Additionally, wanted to share an incident I have noticed recently.

Howrah - Chennai Superfast mail has two such coaches one at the front and
another towards the end of train. When a couple of passengers with
disabilites went to front side coach, it was crowded with all non-disabled
users and couple of policemen standing there told that it's not their
responsibility to get them vacated and the second coach which is just
before the guards coach gets such support and those two folks had to walk
all the way to end of the train. Yes, the guard was supervising the coach
and was not allowing any passenger who does not have a disability.

I was shocked, when there are two coaches, why they do not offer necessary
support. Since that was a station where train halts almost 20 minutes,
those folks were able to walk all over the train, but what could have
happened if train halts only for a minute or two or if they are mobility
impaired?

Do you all think, taking up this issue with CCPD office would help?
Best,
-Srini

Re: [AI] Coach for People with disabilities in Railways - a follow-up

2012-12-13 Thread mukesh jain
hello,
just last week, one of my friend was travelling from mumbai to nagpur.
while she was in her handicapped coach in which she was all most alone
initially but after some station, few people boarded in that
compartment. since she was visually challenged person, she had warned
the arriving passendgers about this coach and not to travael if they
are not handicapped. on this warning, some people replied that they
are handicapped as they have got some injuries in their legs but do
not have any certificate. she could not argue with them much since she
was alone and thought to make her journey with no hassels. everything
was fine till few stations but suddently on one station, one stranger
came to sit next to her seat. from his talking and the smell, she
could make out that he is drunker. so after sometime, he started
conversing with her and began to react to touch her. seeing this, she
had changed her seat but that didn't worked well for her as he
followed her. here she could not take any other passenger's help since
distance to next station was very far from there. she imediately sms
me her coach number, problem description in short.

reacting to her problem imediately, i had sent the sms to the number
9717630182 and also used my personal contacts with some rail officials
and requested them to take the action quickly failing which i had also
informed that i should be forced to take this issue with press and
police. to my surprise, before reaching the train at the next
station,i and my friend received the call from some ticket collectors
of that train who were in other compartment and informed me and her
not to worry and asured their full cooperation. don't know how before
the train reached to next station, how we have received couple of
calls from railway may be certainly because of complaints which they
had also mentioned in their call but from the ticket collector this
information had been reached so quickly which was not at all expected.
on the next station, some railway official took that person in their
custody and took him somewhere which we are not aware and my friend
had been given other alternate accomodation in the sleeper class with
reserved seat.

so really hats off to the complaint system of railway due to which she
could make safe journey!

but this is how sometime it becomes risky in travelling handicapped
coach which is not connected from inside with other compartments if it
would be so, she could easily approach other passengers imediately.

this was our experience.
thanks,
mukesh.

Re: [AI] Facebook accessibility

2012-12-13 Thread akhilesh
Hi Surendra,
I'm underlining some of the features which are available in main
facebook page i.e.
facebook.com

1. You can mention a person in your comments or status from your
friend list. Please note: mentioning includes name with profile link
and photo.
2. you can update your status with a link of your location.\
3. facility of commenting in the same page is available only in
computer version.

there are many other issues, but it is not the matters of facilities
only, but accessibility also!

There are many features which are not available on Mobile version, so
please don't advise to stick with mobile version only.

NAGPUR: A 12-year-old visually impaired girl was allegedly raped by her young
neighbour at the Servants quarters in Vayusena Nagar under the jurisdiction of
Gittikhadan police station on Wednesday morning.

Accused Ajay Telgote (20), a gardener in Vayusena Nagar, was arrested within
some hours of the crime by the investigating officer, woman police
sub-inspector Deepmala Bhende. Police said the victim identified the accused by
his voice. According to the police, Telgote had gone to watch television at the
victim's house when he committed the heinous crime.

Though they were neighbours, the victim would rarely speak to Telgote. Her
parents said she would only step out of the house to attend her school, said
Bhende.

On Wednesday morning, the victim's mother was at home when Telgote came to
watch television. The victim's parents work as labourers in Vayusena Nagar.

Police said that the victim's mother left home around noon for her work.
Before leaving, she asked Telgote to go home since she wanted to lock the
house, but he assured to lock the house after the serial ends, said Bhende.

Finding himself alone with the girl, Telgote sexually assaulted her. Police
said the victim screamed and tried to fight him but Telgote beat and gagged
her. Before fleeing from the house, he even threatened the victim that he would
kill her if she told anybody about the incident.

Police said that the victim's 8-year-old mentally challenged younger brother
was asleep in the same room when the incident took place. The victim's father
has been out of town for the last two days.

Police said the victim even suffered minor bruises while resisting him. The
incident came to fore when the victim's mother returned home from work in the
evening and found her daughter frightened. While asking her what happened, the
mother found blood stains on her dress understood the matter.

With the help of her neighbours, she reported the matter to senior officials at
Vayusena Nagar, who approached Gittikhadan police. On confirming the medical
reports, a rape case was registered.

The girl's statement was recorded after she was declared fit by doctors. Later,
a police team headed by Bhende was sent to Telgote's house to arrest him.

NAGPUR: A 12-year-old visually impaired girl was allegedly raped by her
young neighbour at the Servants quarters in Vayusena Nagar under the
jurisdiction of Gittikhadan police station on Wednesday morning.

Accused Ajay Telgote (20), a gardener in Vayusena Nagar, was arrested within
some hours of the crime by the investigating officer, woman police
sub-inspector Deepmala Bhende. Police said the victim identified the accused
by his voice. According to the police, Telgote had gone to watch television
at the victim's house when he committed the heinous crime.

Though they were neighbours, the victim would rarely speak to Telgote. Her
parents said she would only step out of the house to attend her school,
 said Bhende.

On Wednesday morning, the victim's mother was at home when Telgote came to
watch television. The victim's parents work as labourers in Vayusena Nagar.

Police said that the victim's mother left home around noon for her work.
Before leaving, she asked Telgote to go home since she wanted to lock the
house, but he assured to lock the house after the serial ends, said
 Bhende.

Finding himself alone with the girl, Telgote sexually assaulted her. Police
said the victim screamed and tried to fight him but Telgote beat and gagged
her. Before fleeing from the house, he even threatened the victim that he
would kill her if she told anybody about the incident.

Police said that the victim's 8-year-old mentally challenged younger brother
was asleep in the same room when the incident took place. The victim's
father has been out of town for the last two days.

Police said the victim even suffered minor bruises while resisting him. The
incident came to fore when the victim's mother returned home from work in
the evening and found her daughter frightened. While asking her what
happened, the mother found blood stains on her dress understood the matter.

With the help of her neighbours, she reported the matter to senior officials
at Vayusena Nagar, who approached Gittikhadan police. On confirming the
medical reports, a rape case was registered.

The girl's statement was recorded after she was declared fit by doctors.
Later, a police team headed by Bhende was sent to Telgote's house to arrest
 him.

2012-12-13 Thread Ekinath Khedekar
It’s outrageous and reminds me of the need to be very vigilant for
every child against so called neighbors, uncles, Dadas etc. etc.
You just can’t leave them alone.

I pray that the girl in this case is a brave child and able to come
out of it for good and don’t keep the invisible scars in her heart for
ever.

As to the justice?
Sit back and relax. Probably we’ll get to hear something about it for
final in 2 decades.

I don’t know how can we change it?
Awareness, open talks.

Statistics say that 51% of children- both male and female- in India
face abuse; while 80 to 90% of disabled children face one form of
sexual abuse or the other.
It is often noticed that parents and caregivers – irrespective of
their education and other background- shy away from talking to their
children about child sex abuse and safety.
The mildest form of abuse – like forced touching or stroking- can
leave the deepest impact on the child and his/her entire life.
So let us all be better parents / guardians/ teachers/ society

2012-12-13 Thread Ekinath Khedekar
Hi Sagar,

Never heard of you. New to Mumbai?
Sad that nobody replied because nobody is really so mad about sports
at least in Mumbai.
I do go for trekking on and off. Also I am mad about playing cricket
with that chin chin ball.

We had a maddening cricket time on the beach of Murud near Alibaag
last week end. We blinds could run freely almost a mile and there was
nobody to bang in to or nothing to hurt or feet or body. Only next day
at office I was walking crooked. We also played cards and hand cricket
of 6 stones.

So there is lots to play given we have some sporty guys around.
And ha, in Xavier’s few active lads play foot ball. People play ches
etc. but I don’t like it much as much as out door games and anyway,
much of my brains is consumed at the office. Hahahah!

I request BGFI to organize a trip at murud the beach was completely
accessible. And let Vis have a run for their freedom with out a stick
or a hand.
Cheers
