dear friends,
I feel happy to tell that I could recover all the data from a hard drive
which got unformatted lost week. I used GetDataBack. diskgetor and Stellar
Phoenix NTFS Data Recovery also work fine. all of these give the exact
folder structure as it is. recuva is not good specially in case of
multiple and complicated folder structure as it won't give the directory
structure. its recovery performance is also poor.

special thanks to sunil sangtani, Sheik mohammedali and Divyanshu Ganatra

Hi,

1. Grab a Linux live cd. GRML works nicely.
2. Boot from that and see if you can access the device.

3. If you can, pull the files from the drive. If you can't, make a
forensically safe image using the dd utility and then experiment on that
image.

Re: [AI] Gift Wrapping

2012-12-20 Thread payal
Zoher, like I mentioned, it is easier to use a paper cutter, also called a
letter opener if you are using paper. Once you have figured how much paper
you need, just fold it right across from there and slide the cutter through
to get a clean cut.

The fancy cellophane papers can be better cut with a pen knife, if you have
one handy. Just be careful you don't slice your finger in the bargain.
Although, pen knives are usually safe to use.

Re: [AI] Gift Wrapping

2012-12-20 Thread payal
Syed,

There is a whole lot of stuff available at the various gift stores to
accessorise and pretty up your gift wrapped package. There are of course,
the ribbons and bows, which are now available ready made. Also, there are
always the cards, confetti shaped into pretty shapes and many 3 dimentional
characters. All you need to do is to get to one of these places and run
riot.

Alternatively, I've find the straight laced way of wrapping a gift boring
occasionally. In which case the variation is to use the fancy cellophane
sheets, put your gift in the middle of it and collect the loose ends and
bunch it together. Seal the opening with a tape and then a pretty bow. It
looks like a little fountain of paper on top and different. Visualize a
toffee, wrap a gift like that too.

Go on and have some more fun the next time you decide to wrap a gift.

Following your descriptions, I was able to wrap the gift again. I didn't get

Although it doesn't look as pretty as I had hoped when I touch and feel it

did in my previous attempt, where the gift looked like a currier package.

Hi Syed,

Merry Christmas to you as well!

You have the most interesting practical doubts to share. Yes, I do wrap
gifts on my own, quite successfully even if I say so myself.

The main trick is in not cutting the wrapping paper to size before the
whole exercise is over. it becomes easier to handle the box by wrapping it
in the paper and pulling up as much is comfortable on what will be the base
to paste the ends together. To cut the paper, a paper cutter or pen knife
works better.
As for the adhesive, I prefer to use the tubes of adhesive you get nowadays.
Easier to handle, lesser of a mess.

Hope that made some sense and the next gift will be just so.

Re: [AI] Gift Wrapping

2012-12-20 Thread Swati Sinha

Hello,
I have tried for many a times and I can manage it quite accurately.
1. Spread the paper on the table.
2. Adjust the gift on the paper on such a way that the paper's 1 end should
reach the gift other end. ( take the paper from the left side of the gift
and it should come to the extreme edge of the right side of the gift.

3. Tape it properly
4. Now take the paper from the right side of the gift and bring it on the
top of the gift and tape it too.
5.Now fold the paper inside from the small edge and tape it ( do it for
both the sides).
6. Now bring the paper from lower edge and tape it. Repeat the same action
from the upper edge.

Accuracy will come by practice.

I tried to wrap a rectangular gift box for a Christmas present but
couldn't

do it properly. The dimension of the box is -

Length: 12 inches, width: 6.5 inches, depth: 5.5 Inches.

Has any totally blind fellows here tried wrapping gifts on their own? What
has been your experience.

Thanks

Re: [AI] Gift Wrapping

2012-12-20 Thread payal

To make a flowchart, you need to drop controls into a word document. I

An extremely tedious way of building a flowchart would be to use vector

you can use Ctrl + or ctrl + shift + combinations.
while entering the key into the dialog box, you have to use only the
character or shift + character. while running the macro, you have to use
ctrl along with them.

Go to the macros pressing alt+f8.
Tab over to the next control which is a list box for all your macros in
that excel file. Select the desired macro using arrow keys.

Tab over to the options ... button and hit enter key.
Here you will find the field for shortcut key. Press any lettter such as
t. Excel will assign ctrl+t as hot key to this macro.

I tried other combinations, but without success. This is all for office
2003.

Hello Umesha,
Please don't mind. Actually I want to do it automatically to save time and

didn't change the sr. no. of list which is not possible in auto filter

If you want to format C drive and reinstal windows you have to delete the

partitioning is not needed in this case. while partitioning, one has to take
extra care to back up all the data in the hard disk. some times the adjacent
partitions may also be deleted while deleting a partition. once it happened

Re: [AI] Reading PDF document online

2012-12-20 Thread Umesha Economics
when you open a pdf file without saving, it is opened by the browser itself
with the help of adobe plug in. and not by the stand alone adobe reader.
hence this problem. I don't know any proper solution for this as of now. we
have to try removing adobe browser plug in.

[AI] UGC norms for NET declared illegal by Kerala High Court: [An Update]

2012-12-20 Thread Prashanth
UGC norms for NET declared illegal by Kerala High Court

Kochi:
The Kerala High court on Monday declared as illegal the new norms fixed by UGC
for the National Eligiblity Test (NET) for college and university lectureship.

"The power of UGC ought to have been excercised in a proper, fair and
reasonable manner," Justice T R Ramachandran Nair held while allowing a batch
of petitions challenging the new norms.

The court held that fixing of higher aggregate marks for three categories, that
too just before the announcements of results, cannot be justified as the same
was "not supportable by law".

It also declared that all those who have obtained minimum marks prescribed in
the notification have cleared NET and appropriate follow up action be taken to
issue certificates to them within one month.

By changing the standards at the final stage and just before declaration of
results, "it can be definitely be seen that it affected adversely the
expectations of a large number of candidates", the court said.

As per the new norms, candidates in general category have to score aggregate of
65 per cent in all three NET papers to be eligible for college and university
lectureship while OBC candidates need to score 60 per cent and SC/ST candidates
55 per cent.

Previous norms had stipulated that the general category had to get 40 per cent
in Paper I and Paper II and 50 per cent in Paper III. In case of OBC, SC/ST
students, the qualifying percentage was 35, 35, 45 and 35, 35, 40 in all three
papers.

The declaration of new norms had been opposed by students who appeared in the
examination in June this year.

Re: [AI] Reading PDF document online

2012-12-20 Thread Amiyo Biswas
Once the accessibility is set up for normal pdf documents, it should not be
a problem. Anyway, while using pdf for the first time with jaws, you have to
activate Use recommended settings and skip setup button.

In the next screen you will find another checkbox for Always use the
settings from the Reading Preferences (Do not show this dialog again). Check
it and activate the Start button in the next control.

This is the normal routine i follow without going through setting up all the
options in the wizard.
