Re: [AI] Indian audiobook start-up brings Indian best sellers for you
I have read the bengali audio books of this company. The quality is excellent. i wonder why they ar not producing any more Bengali audio books. perhaps the market has not yet developped for Bengali audio books. I don't copy these audio books for others except those produced by myself and my friends of Blind persons' Association or NAB Delhi. These organisations supply audio books at the cost of cd. So copying their books is not piracy. I think, we should encourage purchase of audio books in india for our own sake. This company publishes audiobooks of reputed Indian and foreign titles. I just finished "The Secrets of the Nagas" by Amish Tripathi published by Books talk, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I recommend taking a look at their catalogue of audiobooks. The audiobooks are in English, Bengali and Kanada. These titles cost between INR 99 to 499. Re: [AI] IMAGE VERIFICATION CODE ON IRCTC PORTAL
hello, even apart from the captcha image, their plan my travel train booking section is not accessible. after typing source and destination stations and providing the date of journey and clicking on find button there are list of trains presented on the screen on which you have to select class witch is not accessible. these are i think in radio buttons and they are not labled. only i can click on the desired train number and doing so train schedule for that particular train gets open. even the selection of quota is not accessible. i could only access and book my tickets through quick book section witch has lots of limitations like not getting the option of quota like tatkal and also it has limitation of its timings. so apart from image varification issue, we must also press for the demand to make the booking interface accessible for all the sections including plan my travel. thanks, mukesh. Re: [AI] Talking White Board
Hello Dinesh. Jaws is a screen reader, Which doesn't know any language. To read a language jaws and other screen readers depends on TTS. As for as Punjabi TTS is concerned , I myself got it installed on your computer by you. But since you don't have Unicode support installed in your XP windows. So you are unable to read the Punjabi language. For that arrange XP windows CD and install Indian Unicode language support. To enable teachers with a little more independence of using the black board, the Interactive white board is designed. it does the following, The device is not a projector. It is connected to the Computer via a USB cable, One can write, draw (both free hand and standard shapes) in an editor like say MS Word, what ever the teacher is drawing or writing the same shall be written on the White board. this shall enable teachers across any language, teaching any subject to have writing on the White Board. For Example if there is a English teacher writing a scentence where the verb in the same is to be underlined, one just have to underline the word in the editor and the same shall be written with underline on the board too. the White board also has a function where we can erase all or part of the writing that is on the white board. Re: [AI] need infermations about indian english braille magazines
hello, even webvisum doesn't really support this capptcha as when we paste this captcha, again the same screen appears with the blank image varification. so what i have to do is paste this captcha code of webvisum in the notepad and then remember this code by reading and then when i manually type this in to the varification field i succeed after multiple attempt. the problem sometimes is that after submiting this to webvisum, generally webvisum provides the code output in the small letters whereas, generally these captcha on IRCTC is in capital letters. so assuming that it would be in capital letter, i type it accordingly. so my intention is to convey even inaccessibility of webvisum to solve this captcha on their site due to this reason. thanks, On 3/24/13, Sri Nagamani Yalamanchali wrote: > On 3/24/13, Krishnan wrote: > Sir, > Here are mail links. > AICB: > aicbde...@yahoo.com > NFB: > nfbindiawelf...@gmail.com > NAB: > na...@vsnl.com > NIVH: > i...@nivh.org.in > Thank you> sir, >> will you send email id also. >> - Original Message - >> From: "Sri Nagamani Yalamanchali" >> To: >> Sent: Sunday, March 24, 2013 6:30 PM >> Subject: Re: [AI] need infermations about indian english braille >> magazines >> >> >>> Hi Yogesh, >>> You can subscribe four magazines. >>> Braille Digest from AICB (annual subscription Rs. 50) >>> All India Confederation of the Blind, Braille Press, Sector 5, Rohini, >>> Delhi 110085 >>> Tel: 011-27054082 >>> The Touch from NFB (annual subscription Rs. 40) >>> National Federation of the Blind, Computerised Braille Press, Delhi >>> Road, Bahadurgarh-124507, Jhajjar District, Haryana >>> Tel: 01276-230912 or 01276-235849 >>> Blind Welfare from NAB Mumbai (annual subscription Rs. 20) >>> National Association for the Blind India, 11 Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan >>> road, Worli Seaface, Mumbai 400030 >>> Tel: 022-24925013 >>> Braille Chronicle from NIVH Dehra Dun (annual subscription Rs. 50) >>> National Institute for the Visually Handicapped, 116 Rajpur Road, >>> Dehra Dun 248001 Uttarakhand >>> Tel: 0135-2744491 or 0135-2744979 >>> You can send money order or demand draft to these addresses or contact >>> above mentioned number for further details. >>> Thank you >>> >>> On 3/24/13, yogesh J wrote: dear access indians I want to subscribe some english braiile magazines like braille digest so please tell me the availlable braille magazines and its subscription methods! waiting for your valuable replys! yours yogesh -- with regards J. yogesh Add me to your skype: romio.yogesh connect with me on facebook: yogeshyogi follow me on twitter: romioyogesh minds are like parashoot when it is open it is working fine Register at the dedicated AccessIndia list for discussing accessibility of mobile phones / Tabs on: http://mail.accessindia.org.in/mailman/listinfo/mobile.accessindia_accessindia.org.in Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe. [AI] Windows8 and sound problems.
Dear friends, As the subject line refers, I am facing problems with windows8. Installed it in two pcs and in a virtual machine. I had to be much disappointed as there was no sound to be heard after installation. Though the audio driver is detected, it is shown that, the audio device is disabled. The motherboards of the two PCS were intel and asus respectively. Any idea? Thanks in advance, P. Balaraman. At that time, akashwani pune denied job to him not because of policy but because of infrastructural issue. Because, all of us may be aware that at the time of live broadcasting, the anouncer have not to perform the job of speaking on the microphone, but he has to operate various machines like record plaier or CD plaier also. He was denied the job because of such jenuan issue. Further, it is mentioned in the article that he use 2 headphones so that the screen reader's voice will not get mix in the broadcasting. I don't understand how it is possible. Is it possible to get output of jaws and program from 2 different soundcards? -Original Message- From: avinash shahi Sent: Friday, March 22, 2013 11:18 AM To: jnuvision ; accessindia Subject: [AI] Akashwani denied him job, visually challenged man now voice of 91.2 FM Garima Mishra Fri March, 22 2013 http://www.indianexpress.com/news/city-anchor-akashwani-denied-him-job-visually-challenged-man-now-voice-of-91.2-fm/1091692/0 Block Quote Satish Navale had been a radio buff and wanted to rule the airwaves. To realise his dream, after completing graduation in 1995, this visually challenged man with all programme schedules and other details on his fingertips confidently approached Akashwani Pune to know about his prospects of becoming a radio anchor, only to be told that the job was not meant for a person with a disability like his. "I was told that as per the policy, they cannot hire a blind person for that role," recalls Navale. Disappointed, Navale, then 22, wanted to commit suicide. "I grew up with this dream that shattered instantly. However, I consoled myself and resolved not to give up," he says. Last month, 30-year-old Navale took over as the 'radio in-charge' at Yaralavani community radio station in Jaliyal, 150 km from Sangli, and is a known name among the listeners of 91.2 FM. He is probably the only visually challenged person in the country who not only coordinates and plans radio programmes but also hosts them. "Someone had advised me to study further and try making a career in educational broadcasting," says Navale. So, after doing graduation from Abasaheb Garware College (Pune), he pursued MA and MEd from the University of Pune. N V Deshpande, who founded Yaralavani around two years ago, says until Navale came for the interview, he was not aware that the job seeker was visually challenged. However, his knowledge about various radio channels and the way they work was far superior than anybody Deshpande knew. "I had the confidence that his disability could be overcome with technology. Within a month, he proved that my decision of hiring him was right," says Deshpande, adding that Navale works without any assistance. Navale owes this knowledge to his "obsession for radio". Since the age of four, he says, he would listen to radio for around 16 hours a day. "I used to keep changing frequency after every 15-20 minutes or so. The timing and duration of each and every programme was on my fingertips," he says. Prior to joining Yaralavani, Navale worked as an educational researcher at University of Pune from 2008 to 2010. He then dabbled in making e-learning modules for the visually challenged, which he provided to various schools. Talking about the initial challenges, Navale says being visually impaired he had to work with softwares like Jaws and Tox. "When you use Jaws, the voice gets mixed with radio broadcasting. I tackled this by using two headphones," he says. Navale also had to work on the voice-level filter. On the radio mixer, he has made Braille-like markings that can be felt with his fingers. "With this, I can recognise where the voice filter is located on the radio mixer and accordingly I operate," he says, adding that with this kind of technological adjustments any visually challenged person can work at any radio station. Along with playing Hindi and Marathi songs, the Yaralavani radio station broadcasts live interactive programmes on social issues and current events, moral stories, interviews of achievers, programmes on English speaking and vocabulary, among others. "He is on par with any normal person and we don't make him feel special or different," says Deshpande. Re: [AI] Talking White Board
Dear friend, I also want details of the white board. Thanks - Original Message - From: To: Sent: Sunday, March 24, 2013 8:33 AM Subject: [AI] Talking White Board Dear Ashik, There are many blind teachers across the country, most of the times i have heard that there is a discrimination, with us that we can not use a blackboard, to wrote, i have also heard that teachers have an assistant. Please write to me off list for more information. My one day visit has neither effected deliveries and work. however thanks for understanding.
