Re: [AI] Query regarding Kindle/E-book Reader

2015-04-02 Thread Vedprakash
Kindle supports all document files - Doc, pdf, Mobi, TXT, EPub etc.
So any book on your PC, can be transferred to Kindle.
No need to purchase Kindle books. Of course, they are a bit costlier.
Many sighted students are using Kindle these days and reading ncert books,
sample papers etc on Kindle.
But the version which most of these students use, does not have any speech
support.
Recently, I bought Kindle white in around ten thousand rupees for my
daughter.
It has internet WI FI support, Online dictionary, a bit of editing options,
book marks etc. but there is no speech support.

If you buy one of the Kindle Fire tablets, it comes with a built-in screen

access to the same books on your preferred device using either VoiceOver or

Dear mohit,
You can perform this in IE in few ways like Change Internet Explorer
Privacy settings Being aware of how your private information is used
when browsing the web is important to help prevent targeted
advertising, fraud, and identity theft. InPrivate Filtering helps
prevent the websites you go to from automatically sharing details
about your visit with third-party content provider websites.
If you select the Do not collect data for use by InPrivate Filtering
check box, Internet Explorer will stop tracking which content provider
websites could
share details about the websites you visit.

Please let me know the version of your browser and the operating
system you are referring to, so that I can guide you the other steps.

Dear Kiran,

Tablet and Kindle are different devices from each other I guess. Tablet
functions as laptop whereas Kindle is basically E-book reader. On kindle no
browsing is permitted as understood.

Anyhow, without internet access one cannot have access to books as mentioned
already. On the other hand, tablet is giving access to many other applications
as you may wish.

Thanks

2015-04-02 Thread Ekinath Khedekar
Dear Board of Graduate Admissions,

I am indeed very disappointed for missing out on studying at Cambridge
University, but I would be very grateful and at ease if you can
address my following two queries:

It is yesterday only that I attended an interview for the
Chevening/Cambridge Scholarship which happens to be the last stage of
the award process. The description of the award read as- A
Chevening/Cambridge Scholarship offers financial support to
individuals wishing to study for a Master's degree at the University
of Cambridge and Chevening/Cambridge Scholarships are jointly funded
by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Cambridge Commonwealth,
European International Trust.
Query 1. Did yesterday's Chevening Scholarship interview influence the
outcome of my application for MPhil in Public Policy programme? As I
was communicated the outcome of the application from your side within
11 hours of the interview.
Query 2. Are both processes, Chevening interview round and Cambridge
graduate application process related?

Lastly, it would help my future applications if you could kindly share
any reasons for my application not being successful. It would help me
to better my prospects for future application. I will certainly not
contest reasons for rejection.

Thanking in anticipation...

With due regards,
Ekinath Khedekar
Hi Kiran,

Hope you are doing well.

I agree to the point that perhaps spending 10 grands for just to
listen to the books doesn't make sense to Vis as we can read books
using Voice Over on iPhones.
But how about for sighted people. How is it beneficial to them to spend 10Ks?
Do people pay only to have that bookish visual feel while reading on the go?

Thanks

Re: [AI] how to create my own blogg?

2015-04-02 Thread Pinkesh Tailor
Hi, yes a blog can also be a website. There are free as well as the
paid one out there. In case if you want to start with a free one, then
wordpress.com can be considered as the place to start. Another free
resource is googles blog spot.com. For google, you need not to sign up
rather you can use your existing gmail id to login. For wordpress you
would first need to sign up. Now in case if you want to go for a paid
one, then again wordpress.org would allow you to install the required
files in the root folder of your domain. You would need to purchase a
custom domain and some web space. This would cost you around approx
3000 rupees depending upon web space. In case of free blog you can
have a custom domain only if you purchase it at a cost. So in case of
free on you would have a domain as www.domain.wordpress.com and in
case of paid one you have your direct domain www.domain.com. If you
need more help on this you could get back. Just for your understanding
I have a paid blog of my own running at
www.personality-development-mumbai.com

Thanks,

  Dear All,

It would be appreciated if you could share your experiences/learning
about Kindle-E-book Reader. Heard information is that it gives access
to millions of books. Are there friends who have been using it
probably who are in to academics?

Do we have to install JAWS/NVDA as the case maybe, or does it have
in-built audio reader exist? Please respond.

  Thanks

Re: [AI] Query regarding Kindle/E-book Reader

2015-04-02 Thread Kiran Kaja
On the Kindle device, the screen reader is a slightly modified version of
Talkback which is the screen readre on Android. Kindle uses the Android
operating syste. And yes, you can navigate by character, word and so on

If you buy one of the Kindle Fire tablets, it comes with a built-in screen
reader. it is a very good screen reader too. Alternatively, if you have an
iPhone/iPad or an Android device, you can download the Kindle app and get
access to the same books on your preferred device using either VoiceOver
 or
Talkback as per your device preference. If you do have one of these
 devices
already, I would try the Kindle app first before investing in a Kindle
 Fire
 device.

It is true that Kindle has millions of books but you need to remember that
they are not free. I have seen users in India complain that they don't
 have
access to all the books and the prices are bit on the higher side.

 Kiran

Re: [AI] how to block Google adds in Mozilla Firefox

2015-04-02 Thread mukesh jain
Hello,
You may want to install the recently released add-on called adblock
plus for internet explorer versions above to 7.

To learn about this add-on and to install, visit:
https://adblockplus.org/

An adblocker is an add-on to your browser, which adds functionality to
your browser so it can filter content. Adblockers itself have no
functionality, in the sense that they do not block anything until it
is told what to do. The so-called filterlists tell the adblocker
what to block. These filterlists, are basically an extensive set of
rules, which tell Adblock Plus what to block.

Hope that is of some help.
Thanks,
