Subject: Re: [AI] regarding Mutual fund investment

Hi Kamal sir, it's great to have such an experienced person in sharmarket...
I had been analysing MF of SBi and enquired with their personnels who
said it has a stabilized yield of 9.25 % in bond mf and around 12% in
equity MF but after making a small analysis of deducting all the
charges shown in their illustration table I found the yield lesser
than the interest of deposits in PPF and in ULIPS it was too lesse
for other than the coverage of life risk.
Could you clarify the same on the list so that it might be more
fruitful and knowledgable for all of us and may be encouraging ...
Thank you,

 Hello,

I am creating a daisy book from a word file using the Save as daisy
 add-on.
It uses the narrator's voice. My narrator's voice is set as sangeeta.
 But
the daisy mp3 files are always created with the microsoft narrator's
 voice.
Is there any way I can use sangeeta instead?

Subject: [Cavi-announce] Reaper and Osara short course coming soon!

ever wanted to be in full control of your multi-track audio projects?
Have you ever considered composing music with Midi and wanted more tools to get
it done?
Have you been frustrated with the limits of reaccess and Reaper and wondering
what the next fronteer regarding Audio editing was?

In recent months NVAccess has released an extention to Reaper called Osara. This
extention is a reimplementation of the accessability layer to Reaper.
If you have good audio editing skills, and want to upgrade your skills to the
next level, consider the CAVI Osara short course.
This course will cost $100 and is 5 intensive weeks of Osara training.
Fundamental audio knowledge will be assumed, or people may wish to return and
take Audio fundamentals next year to fill in the gaps in their knowledge.

This course will be run using Pcs on Teamtalk, although any Mac info on Reaper
would be apreciated.

We are looking for students who are interested in taking this
course. As it is a short course, payment is generally required up front.
If this is a problem please get in touch with us and we can work something out.

It is anticipated that this course will start early October so any interested
people please email cavii...@ciscovision.org

This is an exciting course that will teach many new concepts including how to
preview midi data and how to build custom envelopes for fade pan and many other
affects.
This is likely the only time this course will run so get in quick or you may
miss out!
We look forward to signing interested students up.

Regards, Kerry.

[AI] Fwd: [nvda-translations] NV Access services downtime

2015-09-07 Thread Bhavya shah
-- Forwarded message --
From: James Teh
Date: Mon, 7 Sep 2015 23:03:23 +1000
Subject: [nvda-translations] NV Access services downtime
To: NVDA development mailing list ,
NVDA translations mailing list ,
nvda-add...@freelists.org

Hi all,

As most are probably already aware, NV Access websites and services have
been down over the past day or so. Our sincere apologies for the
inconvenience. Unfortunately, the hardware in our main server appears to
be severely failing.

Until we can resolve the hardware problems with our main server, I have
begun transferring our services to a new server. www.nvaccess.org, NVDA
automatic update checks, addons.nvda-project.org and git.nvaccess.org
are now back online. Unfortunately, community.nvda-project.org is still
down. Automated translation and add-on tasks (including commit emails,
conversion of t2t files, etc.) are also not yet functional. I will try
to restore these as soon as I can. NVDA snapshots cannot be built at
this stage and this will take quite a bit longer to restore.

Please note that the backup I restored from is a week old. This means
that even once community.nvda-project.org is up again, there will
probably be some missing tickets, comments, etc. git.nvaccess.org may
also be outdated, though this should be easy enough to fix.

Once again, our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. Please
bear with us as we work to restore all services.

Thanks,
Jamie

Re: [AI] NVDA volume issue

2015-09-07 Thread Bhavya shah
Hi,
Pranav,
The strange naming of NVDA in the Control Panel, probably, according
to a reported bug, is due to the Focus Highlight add-on.
I am guessing that you have it installed, in which case, you may want
to restart NVDA with add-ons disabled and then check the Control Panel
to see what NVDA is named as. I don't have the add-on and NVDA is
correctly named as NVDA application in the Control Panel.
Siddhi Sir,
Please, don't sir me. Feel free to call me Bhavya.
There are issues with the ETI Eloquence driver on the web about voice
configuration changes not being saved. As Pranav suggested, you need
to acquire ETI Eloquence from CompRoo Services or Saksham Trust.
Thanks.

Re: [AI] regarding Mutual fund investment

2015-09-07 Thread sampath raj rao
Hi Kamal sir, it's great to have such an experienced person in sharmarket...
I had been analysing MF of SBi and enquired with their personnels who
said it has a stabilized yield of 9.25 % in bond mf and around 12% in
equity MF but after making a small analysis of deducting all the
charges shown in their illustration table I found the yield lesser
than the interest of deposits in PPF and in ULIPS it was too lesse
for other than the coverage of life risk.
Could you clarify the same on the list so that it might be more
fruitful and knowledgable for all of us and may be encouraging ...
Thank you,

How ridiculous it is that they are asking for writer's name and its
details and issuing the identity card in advance. Agree, this will
reduce the work-load of examination centre however, it will be greater
botheration for applicants. . Hence, I strongly request all to voice
this problem.

It uses the narrator's voice. My narrator's voice is set as sangeeta.
But

the daisy mp3 files are always created with the microsoft narrator's

Is there any way I can use sangeeta instead?

[AI] Barriers to inclusive education in Greece, Spain and Lithuania: results from emancipatory disability research

2015-09-07 Thread avinash shahi
Abstract
Inclusive education is a key aspect of the European Disability
Strategy 2010–2020. The aim of this study is to give voice to three
local organisations of people with disability and for people with
disability in Spain, Lithuania and Greece, discussing the EU policy
for inclusive education in relation to personal experiences and
national policies, as part of the Able’20 European project. The points
of view of 58 young people with disabilities were collected through
the ‘theatre of the oppressed’ approach as an emancipatory disability
research tool, aiming at the empowerment of young people with
disabilities and their organisations. The voices of young people show
the presence of physical barriers alongside more challenging cultural
and institutional barriers, which strongly limit access to inclusive
education, showing an opposite trend to the EU policy, and
overshadowing the social model of disability.

[AI] Paper of Interest: Disability and social protection in Latin American countries

2015-09-07 Thread avinash shahi
Abstract
This article aims to compare and analyse the different models used to
define and understand disability in the legislation on disability and
social protection in five Latin American countries. Five countries
with different structure and historical development of social
protection systems were selected (Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica
and Mexico) and a thematic analysis of 75 legal documents was
conducted. The results demonstrate a contradiction between definitions
and perspectives used to understand and establish strategies to
include disabled people. Indeed, the five countries have used an
International Classification of Functionings, Health and Disability
perspective in their legislation on disability, but an individual
perspective for the social protection legislation. The article offers
insight into the inherent tensions presented in such models given the
legislative and policy framework around them and reflects on the
impact this has for implementation.

[AI] Movie-review: "Blind": Written and directed by Eskil Vogt; director of photography, Thimios Bakatakis; edited by Jens Christian Fodstad; music by Henk Hofstede; produced by Sigve Endresen and Han

2015-09-07 Thread avinash shahi
Blindness and sight: Distinctions between the two blur, then converge
in the Norwegian filmmaker Eskil Vogt’s haunting debut feature,
“Blind,” whose narrator and main character, Ingrid (Ellen Dorrit
Petersen), has recently lost her sight.
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/04/movies/review-in-blind-perception-and-fantasy-converge-in-a-writers-mind.html?_r=0
“I can still see in my dreams,” she muses. “It’s not important what’s
real, so long as I can visualize it clearly.” And in this cool,
verging-on-chilly exploration of perception and fantasy, which won a
best screenplay award at the Sundance Film Festival, life, as Ingrid
experiences it, is considerably more fraught than mundane reality
would indicate. What “the mind’s eye” envisions is tumultuous and
sexy.

Lithe, blond, beautiful and exuding a doe-like fragility, Ingrid, who
spends her spare time writing on a computer, gropes her way around the
immaculate high-rise apartment in Oslo where she lives with her
husband, Morten (Henrik Rafaelsen), a successful architect. Morten
repeatedly urges Ingrid to venture into the outside world, but she is
fiercely reluctant. And as you watch her stumbling around and having
difficulty navigating the simplest tasks, she appears far from ready.
In one compelling image, Ingrid strips naked and flattens her torso
against a window. Viewed from afar, she suggests a trapped bird that
has smashed itself against the glass.

Photo

A scene from "Blind." Credit KimStim Films

How and exactly when Ingrid lost her sight is never explained. Her
condition is largely metaphorical. There is no mention of Ingrid’s
employing a seeing-eye dog or learning Braille. She uses
voice-assisted devices that read emails and text messages out loud.

In the handsomely photographed opening sequence, Ingrid addresses the
challenge of identifying familiar objects by touch, the visual memory
of which, she has been told, will fade, because the optic nerve will
wither. But with persistent efforts to remember, she adds, that loss
can be slowed.

From its deceptively austere and poetic beginning, “Blind” could take
any number of paths. The one it does choose tracks Ingrid’s feverish
erotic imagination, in which Morten is carrying on a secret sex life.
In the first of many fantasy sequences, she pictures him having a
steamy Internet dialogue with Elin (Vera Vitali), a single mother
newly relocated from Sweden to Oslo, while lying next to Ingrid in
bed, his computer on his lap. Ingrid’s jealousy and suspicion inflame
her with rage and desire, and she is suddenly hot for her husband,
whom in other scenes she describes as “boring.”

Does Elin really exist outside Ingrid’s imagination? Perhaps not. But
when Elin’s son suddenly and inexplicably becomes a daughter, you
realize that Elin is a character in the story Ingrid is writing on her
computer while guzzling red wine. Elin develops into Ingrid’s literary
alter ego, one whom the author relentlessly punishes in her story. On
Elin’s first date with Morten at an upscale restaurant, she is
humiliated when she suddenly loses her sight and tries in vain to
cover it up. After they have sex, Morten callously dumps her. Later,
Elin, permanently blind and pregnant from the one-night stand, teeters
on high heels while mounting a treacherous metal staircase in search
of Morten.

The fourth major character, Einar (Marius Kolbenstvedt), also probably
imaginary, is a stocky, socially inept former classmate of Morten’s
who lives across the street from Elin and furtively observes her from
his windows and sometimes pantomimes her body language. Addicted to
Internet pornography (the movie shows fleeting snippets of hard-core
sex), he is a compulsive masturbator as well as a voyeur.

A miserable loner who identifies with the deformed teenager played by
Eric Stoltz in the 1985 film “Mask,” Einar wistfully recalls the July
2011 terrorist attacks in Norway that killed nearly 100 at an island
youth camp and in a car bomb explosion. After the attacks, he recalls,
strangers on the street made sorrowful eye contact, and the communal
acknowledgment of the calamity gave him a brief a sense of belonging.
The final act of “Blind” is a surreal set piece in which the
characters converge at a party that Morten has pressured Ingrid to
attend.

“Blind” evokes a dreamy, dour fusion of Charlie Kaufman and Ingmar
Bergman. Its few flashes of wry humor are outweighed by mystically
beautiful images, of which the most striking is a recurrent close-up
of reflections in an eyeball. “Blind” is far from the first film to
contemplate objective versus subjective reality. Despite its heady
eroticism, it maintains an almost clinical detachment that engages
your mind without making your heart leap.

Meet prof Rohit Trivedi of Sarojni Naidu Girls Post Graduate
Government Girls' College, Nutan. Though visually challenged, this
educator has overcome several shadows of obscurity to light up the
world of hundreds of students in his 25 years of teaching career.

To make learning easy and interesting, especially for disabled
students, prof Trivedi extensively uses computer and other advanced
teaching tools, like audio books.

Honoured by President Pranab Mukherjee on the International Day for
Disabled Persons, 2014, for being a role model, prof Trivedi had set
up an unique enabling unit at the college in 2004-05 to help
differently-abled students continue higher education without any
hindrance.

"The unit is has a software that can convert text books and notes into
audio format. This can be downloaded easily by students in their
computers and smart phones. The unit also has a Braille type writer
for visually-impaired students," the change-maker tells HT.

"The unit was set up with a singular motive to make disabled students
self-dependent and self-reliant," he says.

It was also due prof Trivedi's unending efforts that the college
introduced disabled friendly infrastructure in the campus.
"From taunts to rejection, I faced hardships while pursuing education
(as a student). After becoming a teacher I decided to inspire students
like me so that they could live a normal life."

Talking about the initiatives taken by prof Trivedi, former
coordinator of the enabling unit prof Seema Raizada says, "He knows
the requirement of disable students. He has an edge over others
because he is well versed in computer. He breaks all the barriers with
the help of latest technologies. Students take inspiration from him
because he is extra ordinary."

Not just teachers, students too hold prof Trivedi in high esteem. For
MA final year student Garima Singh he is irreplaceable.

"His effort has changed our lives. He taught us that nothing is
unachievable. He is truly a special teacher," says his former students
Swati Saxena and Monica Jha, both visually challenged. Saxena is at
present working with an MNC and Jha a popular radio jockey.

'He motivated differently abled students'

Professor Ama Kapani said he motivated differently abled students to
pursue higher education and helped them in getting jobs. Now more than
hundred disabled students have passed out from the college and got
jobs in banks, multinational companies (MNCs) and other institutions.
