Re: [AI] query regarding cat and studying at IIM's:

2015-09-10 Thread Mahesh Narasimhan
Hi Vidhya,

My sincere suggestion would be to give the best shot in CAT and if
your friend can make it to IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore or Calcutta,
nothing like it. The Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) Delhi is also
very good and XLRI Jamshedpur is also equilly good. All these 5
business schools are competing neck to neck. Regarding the other IIMS,
the market value is relatively low.

For coaching, if your friend can get to any good coaching centre,
that's great. But, one will have to work extremely hard.

[AI] My review of IFB Senorita Aqua SX 6.5 Kg Front Loading Washing Machine

2015-09-10 Thread Dinesh Thole
Hello Friends,

I have recently purchased the above mentioned washing machine and so thought
of sharing my review from accessibility point of view.

This machine is easy to use.

It's buttons are easy to locate and they provide good tactile feedback when
pressed.

For switching between different washing functions, there is a nob provided
which can be turned left/right.

The nob also provides good tactile feedback when it is turned.

Also the machine provides a beep sound when the nob is turned for selecting
wash function.

So once we remember how many times we have to turn the nob for each
function, then it becomes very easy to use.

It has 4 years of warranty.

I am very satisfied with this machine and it's performance is very good.

Do let me know encase if you have any queries.

Thanks and Regards.

Dinesh Thole.

Hi all,
Welcome to a new chapter in SPL Studio add-on 6.0 development: a public
preview. This isn't quite stable as beta builds, but is stable enough that
you can try out in a production environment. Please read this announcmenet
carefully (a copy will be sent to the main SPL list).
Few things to remember:
* This is a preview build, not a beta. You can try using it in one or two
shows.
* You can go back to the stable release (currently 5.4) unless you have
decided to create some broadcast profiles.
* You'll hear debug tones when you move through tracks in the main playlist
viewer. This is meant to see if Track Dial bug (inability to toggle Track
Dial) is fixed.
Highlights of the preview include ability to set a track place marker (to
return to it later), vastly improved track finding facility and an
experimental feature to use some JAWS layer commands from SPL assistant
layer (see below). The preview (still labeled dev) can be found at:
http://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/StationPlaylist.en.html
About JAWS commands: To enable this mode, after installing the preview, go
to add-on settings, select Advanced Settings and check "Screen reader
compatibility mode" checkbox (this option is saved across sessions). When
this mode is enabled, the following SPL Assistant keys will change:
* Listener count: L.
* Playlist remaining time: R.
* Record to file: E.
* Line-in status: Shift+L.
Also, when you enter SPL Assistant, you'll hear "JAWS" to let you know that
compatibility mode is on.
Please try using the preview build in production environments throughout
September and let me know if you find any bugs or have a feature suggestion.
The official beta is scheduled before Thanksgiving holiday in the united
States. Enjoy.
Cheers,
Joseph

Government hopes to keep digital frauds at bay with e-Signature

STPI, which provides several non-tax incentives to IT firms, is relying
heavily on this service to simplify filings for registered companies under
it.

NEW DELHI: In what could enable authentication of documents on the fly and
on a real-time basis, saving both government agencies as well as companies
considerable time and effort, the Department of Electronics and Information
Technology (DeitY) is gearing up to launch an Aadhaar-based e-sign service
in the next one month.

Two departments under the DeitY are working towards becoming the certifying
agencies for the project, which will help authenticate and digitally sign
documents using biometrics or the mobile number linked to Aadhaar.

The Centre of Development for Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has already got the
required permission to launch the service and hopes to unveil it within a
month after its software - which has been developed in-house - passes the
technology tests. Similarly, the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI)
is currently evaluating bids from tech companies such as HP and HCL
Technologies to build the backend and the front end for the technology. HP
and HCL did not comment on the article.

The service is being pitched as a convenient alternative for the current
process of getting a digital signature, which is cost intensive, time
consuming and relatively unsafe. Once operational, this will relieve the
citizens as well as companies of the hassles of obtaining a digital
signature certificate to authenticate their documents for a myriad of
government services such as filing income tax returns, availing of financial
and telecom services and getting different kinds of certificates.

For instance, STPI, which provides several non-tax incentives to IT firms,
is relying heavily on this service to simplify filings for registered
companies under it, said Director-General Omkar Rai.

Government hopes to keep digital frauds at bay with e-Signature

"They could just use e-sign for all the paperwork, making it less time
consuming and more authentic," he said. Corporates which extensively have to
digitally sign their fillings to the government can also use e-sign to
fast-track the process.

Calling e-sign a "very exciting technology", Rajat Moona, director general
of C-DAC, told ET that two mechanisms for authentication are being
developed. While one uses a one-time-password sent on the user's registered
mobile number, the other is through matching biometrics stored in the
Aadhaar server.

Regards,

Shiv

I've re-enabled additions and changes on community.nvda-project.org. We
restored from a backup which was about a week old. I was waiting to try
to recover the lost data from our original server, but since that server
still isn't usable and we can't really wait any longer, we'll just have
to do without that content. If you've added or modified a ticket or wiki
page in the last week or so, please check to see if it's still there,
and if not, please resubmit it.

Thanks,
Jamie

Hi all,

Most of the missing tickets since last week are back in business. This
excludes tickets that were closed, spam tickets and so on. Comments are
missing from majority of them, so please add them if you have new
information.

For some tickets, the keyword "postServerCrash" was added so Jamie and Mick
can provide relevant comments such as commit messages (please feel free to
remove them once you're done dealing with them).

Thank you.

Cheers,

Joseph

(not a beta yet)
To: nvda-add...@freelists.org

Hi all,
Welcome to a new chapter in SPL Studio add-on 6.0 development: a public
* Listener count: L.
* Playlist remaining time: R.
* Record to file: E.
* Line-in status: Shift+L.
States. Enjoy.
Cheers,
Joseph

[AI] Teachers with visual impairment in educational institutes

2015-09-10 Thread Eyeway Helpdesk
Dear teachers on the list:

Greetings from the Eyeway Helpdesk!

we are wanting to know the challenges/problems faced
during teaching at all the levels of teaching from school to
university. How do you handle them? We specifically want to know how
do you handle the class, how do you check assignments, how do you
maintain class attendance, how do you conduct class activities, etc.
We also want to know What sort of support do you get either from
school/college/university or Government of India? If anybody is aware
about provisions for teachers having blindness who are on contract
basis?
For further details, information or any clarifications please write at
bi...@eyeway.org or call on 011-46070380/09015797396
Else, please suggest how can we collect information from you!

Hoping for a positive response from you all!

Thanks in anticipation!
