Re: [AI] Request for supporting me to fight against the injustice done to me in EFL University

2015-09-14 Thread SATYA PRIYANKA Ramabhotla
thanks for the prompt reply friends. first of all, the university rule
book doesn't say anything about giving second chance to the students
who failed in the ph.d course-work. I discussed this thing with my
supervisor, he simply said that he didn't fail me. he also told me
that it is up to the faculty who failed me to give me second chance.
but, prof Madhava Prasad is very adamant and doesn't want to give give
second chance. when I asked him write something in favor of me, he
said that he didn't want to do clerical work. I was also informed that
the controller of examinations has prepared a letter to cancel my
admission. everybody is simply quoting the rule book.

Satyapriyanka

Please read the academic rules and regulations of the university
paying attention to academic grievance redressal mechanism. In my view
there must be a provision for reevaluation of your papers or repeating
the course. Resolve the matter internally.

Re: [AI] Request for supporting me to fight against the injustice done to me in EFL University

2015-09-14 Thread Umesha S E
Hi Priyanka,

don't get depressed. before trying to fight on the matter outside the
university, try to settle it internally. practically speaking, even if
you get success in fight with your department, there may be troubles
in your course time. first of all, talk with your superviser. what is
he/she is saying on the matter? after that, try to contact prof.
madhava prasad and find what is the reason you failed in the course.
what does rule book says about the second option to candidates who
fail in the course work? in our department in University of Mysore,
out of about 90 + candidates, 7 failed. they were given second chance
and all passed in that exam.

with best wishes,
Umesha S. E.

[AI] Request for supporting me to fight against the injustice done to me in EFL University

2015-09-14 Thread SATYA PRIYANKA Ramabhotla
Dear friends,

I am Satyapriyanka a visually challenged woman who registered for my
Ph.D program in 2014-2015 academic year in the department of
Cultural Studies EFL University Hyderabad. I was told just a couple of
days back by the department that I have failed in the course-work
titled “Contemporary India” offered by Professor Madhava Prasad. To
the best of my knowledge, I have submitted all the assignments and the
final term paper asked by him. I strongly feel that I don’t deserve F
grade in this course-work, while I got B and B+ in other three
courses. I attended most of the classes and tried my level best to
cope up with other students and with the professor in understanding
the course. To your information, I was not given second chance to
rewrite my term paper, nor was I informed that I failed in the course.
When I went to get my Mini Thesis signed, I was told quite abruptly
that I could not continue the program since I had been failed in a
course-work. I strongly believe that the University and any person
with little empathy would agree that it is a highly unfair treatment
against a visually impaired woman who has crossed plenty of hurdles to
reach the Ph.D course not to be allowed to rewrite the term paper or
not being given any chance to rectify the mistakes if any. It is also
quite rudimentary on the part of the Department of Cultural Studies to
keep me in complete obliviousness about me having been failed in the
course work. if the professor is not satisfied with my first
submission, he could have conveyed my short-comings directly or could
very well have given a chance to re-submit my course works. Yet,
nothing of that sought was ever done in my case.
I tried all the possibilities as a student what I could do in the
university. Finally the university has decided to send me out. They
are simply quoting the rule-book which says that if a Ph.D student
gets F or D grade in any of the course-work, his or her admission will
be canceled. But in my case, I was not even given second chance to
re-submit the term-paper. All that was told to me was that I couldn’t
continue the program owing to F grade in the particular course. That
also, I was told after a month by the department. I appealed to the
vice-chancellor, registrar, and controller of the examinations, but
nothing seems to come out of it. Hence, I request you to support me to
fight against the injustice done to me in this university.

Hi, you can also use the twitter site with the help of shortcut keys. For
this you have to switch to focus mode in NVDA or turn off vertual mode in

 Hi,
Not a mini-sized pocket Bluetooth keyboard, by any means, however,
 a
very satisfactorily spacious and feature-rich is the Logitech K480.
You can pair it with devices powered with about any operating
 system
and configure them to three numbers on a dial, which when turned,
seemlessly and rapidly toggles to the device on which the number is
 set.
 Thanks.

2015-09-14 Thread Bhavya shah
Hi,
Sampat Sir,
The IBall model has a congested key spacing and layout, in my opinion.
I was unable to replicate my typing speed as on my laptop keyboard on
the IBall device.
Thanks.

September 14, 2015,12:49:50 PM, Navbharat Times

Re: [AI] I want recommendations for Mini bluetooth keyboard

2015-09-14 Thread Bhavya shah
Hi,
An IBall model (7 inch in size) could possibly meet your needs then...
I cannot recall the model number, but, it costed Rs. 700 and was 7
inches in size, that is all I remember.
Thanks.

 Hi,
Not a mini-sized pocket Bluetooth keyboard, by any means, however, a
very satisfactorily spacious and feature-rich is the Logitech K480.
You can pair it with devices powered with about any operating system
and configure them to three numbers on a dial, which when turned,
seemlessly and rapidly toggles to the device on which the number is
 set.
 Thanks.

[AI] UK: Blind teenager ordered to leave restaurant with her guide dog

2015-09-14 Thread avinash shahi
One question: Do we have any specialized agency in Delhi which offers
training to dogs to become guide-dog for the blind?
http://www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/uk-blind-teenager-ordered-to-leave-restaurant/article1-1390220.aspx
A 19-year-old blind teenager in the UK was left in tears after she was
forced to leave a Thai restaurant because she had her guide dog with
her.

The teenager's guide dog, a two-year-old Labrador Retriever, had his
status clearly indicated by a harness and signs saying 'do not
distract me, I'm a working dog'.

"My daughter had been left upset after the manager of the Yee Rah Thai
restaurant in Liverpool told her to get out," her mother was quoted as
saying by The Mirror.

"All restaurants should be accessible to all people in the city and
it's disgusting that people are treated in this way," she added.

It was perfectly clear that the labrador was working as an assistance
dog but the manager said, "I don't care, you've got to leave."

The manager asked them they could sit outside with the dog. She was
absolutely mortified by what happened and she came home very
distressed and frustrated, the report said.

The incident has already attracted negative comments on the
restaurant's Facebook page.

"It absolutely is our policy to allow guide dogs into our restaurants.
The conversation is between us and the guest and the investigation is
ongoing. It is our company policy across all restaurants that guide
dogs are allowed to come in," said Yee Rah's brand manager Rachael
Clarke.

September 14, 2015,12:49:50 PM, Navbharat Times

Apple Posts Accessibility Page for TVOS; Details Support for New Apple TV
J.J. Meddaugh Wednesday, 09-Sep-2015 5:26 PM ET

Apple has posted an accessibility overview page for its new TVOS, the
software powering the new Apple TV and many of the standard
accessibility features are included as expected. For new users, press
the Menu button three times to activate VoiceOver. Many of the same
gestures including flicks, taps, and the rotor are included. While the
Zoom magnification feature is enabled, users can double click the Siri
button to speak the focused content and magnify text up to 15X. Bold
text, increased contrast, and reduced motion are also included,
features standard on other Apple products. While closed captions are
specifically noted, there is no mention of audio description on the
accessibility page, though it certainly may be available under
settings or in specific apps. The accessibility shortcut (pressing the
Menu button 3 times) can be enabled to toggle VoiceOver, Zoom,
captions, or other accessibility features though like on other Apple
devices, the shortcut isn't enabled by default. Here's a link to the
TVOS accessibility page.
