[AI] regarding use of photo identity card to book the railway ticket
Hello, Today, I have received my photo identity card to book my concessional railway ticket but I am unable to understand as in which format number is to be entered while booking the ticket through IRCTC. My card has 12 alphaneumeric characters i.e. initial 6 digits as alphabets then six digits as numbers followed by space. So ehen I enter this number as printed on the card I am unable to book my ticket. So if anyone on the list has used the said card through IRCTC, kindly write the steps to enter the details of this card. After entering the card, I have selected the category as handicapped still no luck. So please share your experience. Re: [AI] Current account guidelines
From RBI’s first directive to all banks (RBI / 2007-08 / 358 DBOD.No.Leg BC. 91 /09.07.005/2007-08) dated June 4, 2008 “Banking facilities to the visually challenged” has following para which is part of almost all legal directives by RBI master circular of July 2014, Indian Bank Association and Banking Codes and Standards Board of India (BCSBI). It is copied by all. “Banks should therefore ensure that all the banking facilities such as cheque book facility including third party cheques, ATM facility, Net banking facility, locker facility, retail loans, credit cards etc., are invariably offered to the visually challenged without any discrimination.” On page 43 of BCSBI Code dated January 2014 has mentioned: x. We will ensure that all the banking facilities such as cheque book facility, ATM facility, Net banking facility, locker facility, retail loans, credit cards etc., are invariably offered to the visually challenged without any discrimination. xi. We will render all possible assistance to the visually challenged for availing various banking facilities IBA procedural guidelines of November 2008 says: All banking products offered by the bank should be made available to visually impaired persons. RBI Master Circular on Customer Service in Banks dated July 1, 2014 reads: 10.3 Providing banking facilities to Visually Impaired Persons In order to facilitate access to banking facilities by visually challenged persons, banks are advised to offer banking facilities including cheque book facility / operation of ATM / locker, etc., to the visually challenged as they are legally competent to contract. In the Case No. 2791/2003, the Honourable Court of Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities had passed Orders dated September 5, 2005 which was forwarded by IBA to all the member banks vide their circular letter dated October 20, 2005. In the above Order, the Honorable Court has instructed that banks should offer all the banking facilities including cheque book facility, ATM facility and locker facility to the visually challenged and also assist them in withdrawal of cash. Further, in Paragraph 14 of the above Order, the Honorable Court has observed that visually impaired persons cannot be denied the facility of cheque book, locker and ATM on the possibility of risk in operating / using the said facility, as the element of risk is involved in case of other customers as well. Banks should therefore ensure that all the banking facilities such as cheque book facility including third party cheques, ATM facility, Net banking facility, locker facility, retail loans, credit cards etc., are invariably offered to the visually challenged without any discrimination. Banks may also advise their branches to render all possible assistance to the visually challenged for availing the various banking facilities. No way any bank can deny current account opening as all banking regulators have clearly given directive as "all banking facilities:. It is high time RBI and IBA should come out with revised directive by removing ambiguities. Re: [AI] Faking Disability: UPSC
This is great work from Karnataka- verification of the certificates and action against doctors. I hope this clean up continues On another note : UPSC gave 14 VI placements recently. Out of these only 3 had used writers in their exams. Out of the 11 -2 have been found not to be disabled and will or must have by now lost their placements. 2 others on the waiting list will be given jobs. This was found only after a secondeye test. What about the 9 others -Were they really disabled If you are 40% disabled and you don’t need a writer then do you need the reservation? If I go back to my school exams- I must have always been 50% or more disabled I could have done with extra time. I didn’t need a writer nor would I have needed reservation. Is it not time to lobby out of this 40% disablement for entitlements. When you are told that Mr. X who has a 40% disability has come to the examination centre by driving his own car should you not complain to the authorities. I know that this does not cover the people who are hiding their ability and pretending to be disabled. Disability certificate is a prised document which enables non-disabled to outclass disabled people in the job-market. Can we protect the right to employment of hundred per cent blind people in India? http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/bangalore/a-third-of-disabled-teachers-may-possess-false-certificates/article7848431.ece 'Of the estimated 7,000 teachers, at least 2,500 may be using false certificates'. Nearly one-third of all government school teachers who have taken employment under the disability quota may be either faking disability or in possession of false certificates, K.S. Rajanna, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, has claimed. Of the estimated 7,000 teachers, at least 2,500 may be using false certificates, he told reporters on Thursday. “The number of teachers employed under the disability quota (three per cent reservations currently apply) is quite small … Even in this, we suspect based on our examinations so far, that many may have used false certificates to get the job,” he said. In the last financial year, the office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities had recommended action against 17 teachers for producing false certificates to get jobs in Chintamani taluk of Chickballapur district, while 2013 saw action against a man who had obtained the post of a school principal in Bidar using forged documents. The Commissioner’s office, which has quasi-judicial powers, will now summon all teachers who have been employed under this quota and start the verification process in phases. “We will also find out the government doctor who has given the medical certificate and take action,” he said. Using disabilities or disease as an excuse for either employment or transfers was exposed by The Hindu in August 2014, when 492 teachers were found to have sought transfers as they were “terminally ill”. Thirty of these cases were re-examined, while three officials in the Department of Public Instruction were suspended for procedural violations -- Avinash Shahi Doctoral student at Centre for Law and Governance JNU Register at the dedicated AccessIndia list for discussing accessibility of mobile phones / Tabs on: http://mail.accessindia.org.in/mailman/listinfo/mobile.accessindia_accessindia.org.in Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe. Re: [AI] Current account guidelines
Nirmal - Sorry but I think it's time we may end up raising voice than just educating. If ICICI says they don't have guidelines to let visually impaired person open current account, do they have anywhere written it should not be opened? Or did RBI or IBA told them to have accounts opened for specific category of people?? I completely agree that ICICI is rather illiterate and I would even say non-secured bank in this country. A while ago, they were running after me to open an account even without any proof of documents. :-( Regards, Srinivasu Regards, Srinivasu Chakravarthula - Twitter: http://twitter.com/CSrinivasu/ Website: http://www.srinivasu.org Let's create an inclusive web! Re: [AI] [Bulk] Re: Mysuru to be the first to make rail traveleasierforvisually-challenged
small city like mysore braille signs are fine, but what about crowded stations like delhi all terminals in delhi are very dirty even sighted persons find difficulty in walking on delhi stations platforms, there is not even proper ramps in any of the delhi railway terminals, the wheeled suitcases even how much heavy let it be one has to keep on shoulder and climb the steps to cross one platform to another do not be so much happy on mysore station braille symbols this is just a eyewash to show to media & public that how much they are concerned about blinds.
