The Mumbai High Court has stayed the GR issued by the Maharashtra State government. Pasting the news article below. Stay on adult writer sop for special kids Mumbai: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/mumbai/Stay-on-adult-writer-sop-for-special-kids/articleshow/50568590.cms The Bombay high court on Wednesday stayed the Maharashtra government's resolution providing adult writers during examinations for students with special needs. On January 8, the state issued a government resolution changing the concessions available for students with special needs during examination. Among the key changes that the state introduced were providing adult writers for students with special needs during the board exams and extending all provisions to school exams from class I to IX. Psychiatrist Harish Shetty, who is on the high court's expert panel said, "Though we welcome the state's endeavour to improve the life of children with disability, the use of adult writers for all students with special needs is a cause for concern. We pointed this out to the court on Wednesday. This needs to be debated with state." The HC was hearing a suo motu public interest litigation on the issue of difficulties faced by children with learning disability. The PIL was taken up after news reports last year stated that National Institute of Open Schooling had sought to deny writers to students with LD without any notice to parents about a change in rules According to new set of concessions, the students were going to be able to avail the service of an adult writer during the class X and XII board examination. The writer would be provided as required and cannot be the student's parents or family members. The writer must be approved by the school after verification. For school examinations, students will be able to avail of a writer, a year younger. However, according to Dr Shetty schools and students may misuse this provision and use adult writers even when not necessary. The changes in provisions were made according to the suggestions made by a committee of experts formed under Gangadhar Mhamane, chairperson, Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. hi, we can use the play store apps on more than one phone using the same email ID. but perhaps this app will not work on more than one phone because the activation code will not work on the second phone. The best advantage of this app is that you need not to purchase the separate tts to make use of this software unlike Voice Dream Reader which require you to purchase the separate tts to read the files like doc docs etc. Also so far we do not have any app to read our files in Indian languages like Hindi, Marathi etc. This app is completely free of any adds even running in demo or full version. Once you open the app, you have the several options presented like open the file to browse the files located on your mobile using your integrated file manager, open the last file without repeating the browse file option as it remembers the file history you have worked earlier. Re: [AI] share my openion on mix and match regarding
Hi. Greetings… The topic on the list triggered me too to write, as it reminded me about the Term Paper(Secondary Research) carried out by me in my second year PG Course on , CREATIVE TEACHING METHODS FOR SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN! Sharing with you all just a short relevant portion from it! Meaning of Special Education Special education refers to the teaching of learning-disabled students in ways outside of the norm. This is done by giving students more individual attention than they would normally receive. Therefore special education programs are typically more expensive per capita than their counterparts. Nowadays, it; is common for special education training to be a requirement to become a certified teacher. (M. L Dhawan, 2005). ADVANTAGES OF SPECIAL EDUCATION Special Attention- Special schools provide students with individual attention that they would likely not receive in public schools. As a result, learning and development can occur more rapidly and children are not ignored or neglected due to not being able to keep pace with the rest of the class. Teacher Training- Teachers in special schools are specifically trained to deal with students with needs. They have the knowledge and tools necessary to educate the students, and they have an understanding of how students' disabilities affect their ability to learn. The teachers also possess the patience needed to work with special students Sense Of Belonging- Special schools promote a sense of inclusion among the students. Rather than feeling like they are outsiders, special students can bond with others with similar disabilities. This can help them develop a sense of confidence and self-esteem. DISADVANTAGES OF SPECIAL EDUCATION Lack of Socialization- A disadvantage of this feeling of inclusion can occur when the student attempts to return to public school or to assimilate into regular society. They may have difficulty relating to others who are not like them, so they may feel like outcasts. In some instances, the student may not be able to function outside of the school's environment. Expense- Unlike public schools, special schools often require parents to pay money out of their own pocket for their child to attend. If the cost is prohibitive, the parents may not be able to provide the child with the needed special attention. In some cases, grants or government aid can help lessen the financial burden. http://www.ehow.com/list_5970010_advantages-disadvantages-special- schools.htm l#ixzz1E0yaZ300UG CONCEPT AND MEANING OF INCLUSIVE EDUCATION: As we had seen above, there is Special Education approach which can be adopted to teach the children with disability wherein the child will be segregated from the normal school and will be given training separately, while at the same time there is also an Inclusive Education Approach which can be adopted where the Differently Abled Child can be a part of a Normal School and can learn with the normal children just by adopting certain Creative and Special techniques to teach them. There has been a lot of talk about mainstreaming differently abled students with normal student but teachers have to have the special skills to teach these differently abled students for which this paper will try to provide guidance. Inclusive education means all learners, young people - with or without disabilities being able to learn together in ordinary schools and community educational setting with appropriate network of support services. In inclusive education the needs of all learners are addressed so that good education can be provided to all. However, since the learners with disabilities form one of the largest groups that are still out of the fold of general education, the target group, therefore, on which this scheme will focus, would be learners with disabilities. The term 'learners with disabilities' will cover visual impairments (Blind and Low Vision), speech and hearing impairments, Locomotor disabilities, neuromusculoskeltal neurodevelopmental disorders including cerebral Palsy, Autism, mental retardation, multiple disability and learning disabilities (M. L Dhawan, 2005). ADVANTAGES OF INCLUSIVE EDUCATION Effective Learning- In inclusive education, children with and without disabilities is all expected to study, learn, read, and write. By having higher expectations for children with disabilities coupled with good and effective instruction, they quickly learn academic skills. Because the philosophy and mission of inclusive education is intended to help all students to learn, all children in the class benefit from the method of instruction. Based on evidence from the National Center for Education Restructuring and Inclusion, children with disabilities in the classroom tend to show academic achievement in several areas including improved performance on mastery of IEP goals, standardized tests, motivation to study and learn, overall good grades and classroom behavior. Also, children with disabilities who are instructed under

Dear All, Greetings from Eyeway Helpdesk! Follow below the Daily Eyeway Alerts: 1. The concept of inclusion is considered important in all fields nowadays. Inclusive education for differently-abled children is one such attempt to include children with various kinds of disabilities in normal schools. The idea is that through inclusive education, differently-abled children will get an opportunity to mingle with normal children from an early age. It will help increase their confidence level, improving their competency, and they will be able to boldly express their talent before others. This will ultimately lead to bringing the differently-abled into the mainstream at at early age. For more click here: http://m.thehindubusinessline.com/opinion/mix-and-match/article8098665.ece 2. If you are working on larger documents and tired of reading and if you would like to relax for sometime, it also gives you the option to toggle on play/pause. If you require to read the whole document continuously, you just have to tap on read all button and this app reads to you the entire document at one go! Another best option I really enjoyed is that in whichever navigation you are working with say for instance, word, paragraph etc and if you missed out to listen, you can tap on repeat button and this app can repeat that same occurance again. To start using with this app, initially you have to choose between the engine installed on your mobile. If you have to read the document in Hindi, you have to select Google TTS or Vocaliser Lekha if installed. Just make sure that the tts with which you intend to read the file is different from the default TTS of your phone as you can not use the default engine to read the files. So once you make the selection of your prefered engine, you have to choose the voices i.e. languages like Hindi, English etc depending on the file you want to read. You need not make this selection everytime when you open this app as these settings are saved permanently unless you require to change the same. Another advantage of this app is especially for beginners who are finding difficulties reading the documents faster. So you need not go to the tts settings all the way to make it slower. You can reduce the speed of your reading as per your convenience tapping on slower/faster on the app screen itself. While reading your document, if you wish to jump quickly on any desired page number at any time, you have to simply tap on go to page number button and your phone keyboard pops up at the bottom to enter the page number. This app also let you see the status of your file informing you the percentage of file you have red, current page number etc. Currently, this app does not supports pdf file so hoping to have this format added by them in the future. So if you are interested to try this app, you can use the following link to download it’s demo version. The app would work for two minutes after which it would close. Then you would have to open it again. The 2 minute restriction would be removed once the application is activated. This app is ideally suited for the students, working employees and each one of us who love to read the documents. I have liked it’s features very much and purchased the licence for myself. Currently this app has not been launched on playstore so you have to contact it’s developers Sparsh Products personally. Now the download link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B89WIL0ghBVhTXBPNnFlQXZkcDg/view?usp=sharing so great initiative by Mr. Abhinav from sparsh Products to make the indian languages more accessible on our phone! What about starting a devision for these children, in one or two school in a district by providing accessibility training? This will empower them and help them to mingle with the normal students.
