Re: [AI] BrailleMe

2018-07-05 Thread Innovision
Hi Nishant

Greetings from Innovision!

Its a pleasure to hear from you again following our interaction in January
this year. We at Innovision had taken your feedback regarding file size
limitation and root folder sub directories into consideration. We are happy
to share that the updated version of BrailleMe has resolved both of these
issues. Please find below a list of added functionality in BrailleMe
version 2.

Hardware modifications:

- USB based Firmware upgrade feature added
- Increased memory for processing
- Faster SD card support (Helps in reading and writing large files)
- Improved carrying case based on user inputs
- Improved device foots to avoid slipping on surfaces
- Decreased the size of the charger (now wall mounted)
- Added chip to support USB pen drives in the future

Software modifications:

- Read mode: Ability to open TXT files of unlimited size in grade 1 and
grade 2
- Write mode: Increased file capacity to 100kB with grade 1 and grade 2
switching
- Save as braille: In certain languages where the back translation is not
good, the user can save the file as a braille file. This will not create
any discrepancy in what the user reads and writes. These braille files can
be edited and can be 100kB in size.
- iOS and Android support: Both OSes are now supported.
- Refined braille tables for English and regional Indian languages
- Revamped command table to adhere to legacy commands

The following features are currently under development and are expected to
be released by end of July (currently being beta tested)

- Word wrap
- Cut-copy-paste
- context based quick Command guide
- Folder options

In case of any additional queries please let us know. We would be keen to
schedule a demo interaction at the earliest.

Regards
Team Innovision

Re: [AI] BrailleMe

2018-07-05 Thread john clayton
Hi,
Thank you Prathamesh for willing to show those of us interested a demo of
the BrailleMe.
I am interested in a braille display myself, as I read a lot and if I were
to actually read as aposed to listening (even though I love eloquence) my
spellings would improve a lot, not to mention programming would be a tad
bit easier (python anyone?)
So I would like to test both the orbit reader and the braillme.
If anyone here in mumbai has a orbit reader and would be willing to demo it
for me, please let me know. I will be greatful, like a lot =)

Obviously living in india we only have 2 choices well at least I only have
2 choices either the orbit reader or the BrailleMe
The units of the orbit reader are limited much like Xiaomi redmi note 5 pro
series, its a better than good device at the price but its the kind of a
device which is get while you can and as soon as you can.
The major issue I have with the braille me is the 40kb file limit, and my
question is are the guys those who have developed the BrailleMe willing to
do something about that in an future update? or its not possible at all?
I did ask them, but did not get any response, (rather tipicle of the
organizations that I have contacted) although to be fare it was during
their launch so my mail could have gotten lost in all the trafic.
Hope you all are having a good day,

Subject: [AI] SBI insists on bringing witness for cash withdrawal

 Hi

Is it fair that SBI keeps on insisting that my friend should take
along with him a sighted partner for cash withdraw using passbook?
Or is there anything that I can tell him to tell SBI to allow him
withdraw his money without sighted partner? Anyways he does not have
one, so he is unable to withdraw it even if it is urgent for him.
And he does not have ATM card nor cheque too and he is not in his
home branch right now. So passbook is his only option.

Re: [AI] Sreedhariyam treatment

2018-07-05 Thread Saravanan

Dear RP friends,

Don't get panic on RP and its final stage.
Try to learn mobility at first.
Don't hesitate to use white cane on travel.
Now a days, technology is helping us.
Learn using computers with screen readers.
Make yourself comfortable in handling smart phones using talk back.
Absorb the situation around us up to certain extent.
Share the issues with other RP friends to get solutions from their
experiences.

Be happy on what we can do.
Don't hurt on what we can't do.
We will be learning many things on each & every situation what we face.
Surely, you will feel better on experiencing your life.

In the current scenario, there is no full proof cure of RP, and the best

not to waste time, money and effort.

*Moneycontrol News*

The Right to Education Act has helped a 16-year-old boy get a prosthetic
limb from the Government, according to areport

 by The Times of India.

Ritik is a class 12 student living in a one-room house in Delhi’s Sadar
Bazar. Both of his arms were not fully formed as he was born with a
congenital deficiency and bilateral elbow disarticulation, according to the
report.

“All he needed was a little help,” advocate Ashok Agarwal told the
newspaper, who was instrumental in getting Ritik relief from the High Court.

In a public interest litigation (PIL) filed before a bench of acting Chief
Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar, the lawyer had cited the
RTE along with Section 17 (g) of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
Act, 2016, the report adds.

“The right to education is a fundamental right. So, the means required to
achieve and materialise the right are also covered by the Act,” the PIL
added.

“I felt like playing cricket and drawing when I first wore it. The hospital
handing over the arm to me is a memory I will cherish forever,” Ritik told
the newspaper.

His family faced several rejections to get an artificial arm and around
dozen schools were not ready to give Ritik admission. Ritik's father,
Mahender, is the sole bread winner for the family and earns around Rs 8,000
in a month.

“For getting a prosthetic arm, we knocked on doors of several hospitals.
Our efforts took us even to Rajasthan, but there too we faced rejection,”
Ritik's mother Usha said.

[AI] BrailleMe

2018-07-05 Thread Prathamesh Bendre
Dear AccessIndians,
Greetings from Prathamesh!
Yesterday I posted on the mailing list about BrailleMe, the world’s
most affordable refreshable Braille display. I am happy to see a great
response from all of you, in terms of asking queries, placing orders
and seeking clarifications on doubts. I also saw that some of the
members would want to have a demonstration of the device. After all,
if you get to experience what BrailleMe has to offer by yourself,
there is nothing like it. So, I would like to tell all of the members
that if anyone of you is based in Mumbai, and want to fix a meeting
for a demo session, feel free to get in touch. You can drop me an
E-mail on prathamesh18.ben...@gmail.com
Or, you can also call me on 09757033772
Looking forward to answer your queries
Kind regards
Prathamesh
