Re: [AI] Updating disability certificate
Felt really nice to witness such a sincerety. However, I found this for visual acuity: For Visual acuity the line should be read completely, in case of partial line read, one line below that line should be taken for visual acuity. So, my layperson's understanding says that to say you have 2/60 acuity in better eye with best correction, you should be able to read a line from two feet which a sighted person would read from 60 feet, or in similar ratios. So, can you do so? My sincere advice would be not to meddle in medical judgment of your disability. -Original Message- From: AccessIndia [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of Rahul Bajaj Sent: 23 August 2018 13:52 To: AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issues concerning the disabled. I typically mention, for instance in some news interviews, that I have around 5% vision, and my disability certificate says that I am 100% blind, so that leads to a discrepancy. As a purely legal matter, as per the January, 2018 guidelines, which now hold the field, I would be considered 90% blind: http://www.ccdisabilities.nic.in/content/en/docs/Newguideline.pdf This is because my visual acuity in the better eye is 2/60 and 1/60 in the worse eye. The parameters for 100% blindness are: (a) absence of light perception or (b) vision limited to detecting hand movements and counting fingers. Please see clause 19. My estimation is based on a perusal of the second table given therein. I don't see this as a question of acceptance. Indeed, I am totally blind for all practical purposes. Rather, I look at this from the perspective of accuracy. Re: [AI] Updating disability certificate
Do you wish to update it merely because it mentions your disability as 100% though you have some residual vision? There are many who can see Samuel from Sara and are still classified as 100% blind. Smile. Seriously, 100% blindness does not mean total darkness and if an ophthalmologist thinks you have no working vision and are totally blind, you should accept it. सादर / With thanks & Regards राजेश आसुदानी Rajesh Asudani सहायक महाप्रबन्धक AGM बाजार आसूचना ईकाई MIU भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक Reserve Bank of India नागपुर Nagpur 0712 2806846 President VIBEWA Co-Moderator VIB-India A-pilll = Action coupled with Positivity, Interest, Love, Logic and laughter. -Original Message- From: AccessIndia [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of Rahul Bajaj Sent: 23 August 2018 12:19 To: accessindia@accessindia.org.in Subject: [AI] Updating disability certificate Hi all, I need to get my disability certificate updated.
