[AI] Report in IE from Pune Today: Demand pending salaries: 77 special teachers go on fast unto death
Written by Alifiya Nalwala https://indianexpress.com/article/cities/pune/demand-pending-salaries-77-special-teachers-go-on-fast-unto-death-6220553/ For the last three years, special teacher Vijaya Patil from Dhule is relying on the charity of her relatives to make ends meet. A government school teacher in service since October 2003, Patil, who is partially blind, said she has not received over 60 per cent of her due salary since 2017. Her husband, who is also visually impaired, has also lost his job and her salary was their sole source of income. On Thursday, both she and her husband joined 77 special teachers, who staged a hunger strike outside the Central Building in Pune, which houses the offices of the commissioner and director of primary education. Jaywant Khumte, another teacher from the group, said they had been hired by the state government under the Apang Ekatma Shikshan Yojana. “Until 2013, payments were regular and the entire problem started after that. For several years, our salaries were pending and it was finally released in May 2017. But after that, the same problem started again. In August last year, the government had directed to pay 40 per cent of pending salaries, but many districts have not given even that and there is silence on the remaining amount. That’s why we decided to sit on fast unto death from Tuesday,” he said. Another protesting teacher, Deepali Gholap, who has been in service since 2006, said that making ends meet was proving to be a challenge. “Living costs have become so high and on top of that, we have to rely only on our spouses’ salaries to run households. We are compromising even for basic needs,” she said. However, the protesting teachers were called in by the primary education director’s office and were assured of quick action. Dinkar Temkar, joint director, primary education, said, “I have personally directed all district officials to release the 40 per cent salary payments immediately and we also assured the teachers that we will follow-up with the state government on the pending salaries,” he said. -- सादर/ Regards अविनाश शाही/ Avinash Shahi सहायक/ Assistant मानव संसाधन प्रबंध विभाग/ Human Resource Management Department भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक/ Reserve Bank of India लखनऊ क्षेत्रीय कार्यालय/Lucknow RO विस्तार/ Extension: 2232 Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe. hi Sudeshna , in outlook, go to sent folder then go to view ribbon, use space bar to activate change view then use up or down arrow key to go to apply current view to other mail folder... activate it and then select your desired folder. Re: [AI] supreme Court judgement on promotion matter
I just heard that the supreme court of India pronounced a judgment on 14th January, 2020 in a similar case of reservation in promotion in the matter of Sidaraju Vs. the state of Karnatka. So far, I have not been able to lay my hands on that judgment if any such judgment exists. Maybe, our practicing advocate friends who are part of this list can throw some light on the issue to set the confusion at rest. I too hope to be able to get more information regarding the matter, maybe by next week or so. Currently, I am out of the country for a while. Re: [AI] blackberry phones.
Hi, I use blackberry Q10, based on blackberry 10 operating system. It has got a physical keyboard. While it works pretty well for me I would not recommend it as it is pretty old - about 6 years old. Currently the blackberry is available running android system but for all practical purposes, are End of Life and blackberry may not provide any support. The only reason one may want to consider blackberry is for its physical QWERTY keyboard. Blackberry hub where all email messages notifications come in is another benefit. [AI] Sidharth Yadav Reported in November for The Hindu: Chhattisgarh panchayats to have disabled quota
We may have skipped this powerful news perhaps. Read on Cabinet has approved the nomination of at least one differently abled member to each panchayat, if not elected, making it the only State to have such members in all panchayats. https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/other-states/chhattisgarh-panchayats-to-have-disabled-quota/article30070949.ece “Differently abled people constitute 6% of the population of Chhattisgarh. As promised in the jan ghoshna patra [manifesto], we have taken the landmark step of strengthening their voices at the grassroots level,” said T.S. Singh Deo, State Panchayati Raj Minister. ‘Elected or nominated’ “Every panchayat will now have differently abled members, either elected or nominated,” he said. If differently abled members are not elected through the electoral process, then one member, either male or female, would be nominated as a panch. And as for janpads and zilla panchayats, the State government would nominate two such members, one male and one female, to them. During a meeting at the house of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the Cabinet approved the amendment to the State Panchayat Raj Act, 1993. The proposals will be tabled in the Vidhan Sabha, where the Congress holds 68 of the 90 seats. This means, said Mr. Deo, the State would have 11,000 people with special needs as members of panchayats. “We strongly believe that no one should be left behind. We are committed to empowering the common people. This is the top most priority of the Congress government in Chhattisgarh.” Meanwhile, the Cabinet also decided to drop the educational qualifications eligibility criterion for contesting panchayat elections. “It is mandatory for a contestant for the position of a panch to be at least a Class V pass, and above that Class VIII pass. In the three-tier panchayati raj system, only being literate would be enough to contest elections,” said a note from the government. -- सादर/ Regards अविनाश शाही/ Avinash Shahi सहायक/ Assistant मानव संसाधन प्रबंध विभाग/ Human Resource Management Department भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक/ Reserve Bank of India लखनऊ क्षेत्रीय कार्यालय/Lucknow RO विस्तार/ Extension: 2232 Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe. Re: [AI] wanted news article for the yesterday judjement for reservation in promotion for pwd
Dear Friends! Warm greetings from New York. My understanding in respect of the matter under discussion is as follows: 1. This discussion got kickstarted as a result of a news item link of Hindustan Times which went viral only recently. However, I could not ascertain the date of the edition of the said newspaper in which the news item under discussion appeared. I could open the link and read the news item. 2. I however crosse-checked with an advocate and came to know that this judgment relates to a civil appeal No. 821 of 2008 between Shri Rajiv Kumar Gupta Vs. Prasar Bharati and others. 3. Going by the news item referred to above, Advocate Rajan Mani represented the petitioner Shri Rajiv Kumar Gupta. 4. I could locate a copy of the said judgment from a website the link of which can be found at the bottom of this mail. 5. Towards the fag end of this judgment, it has been stated that another civil appeal No. 5389 of 2016 is also accordingly disposed off. Details of petitioner in the said other civil appeal No. 5389 of 2016 could not be ascertained from the said judgment as posted in the website the link of which I am sharing. 6. The news item of the Hindustan Times referred to above mentions the name of Advocate rajan Mani as counsel appearing for the petitioner Shri Rajiv Gupta; and does not mention the name of any other counsel. Re: [AI] wanted news article for the yesterday judjement for reservation in promotion for pwd
Generally it doesn't happen on SC's website. Other judgments delivered on 14th Jan have been uploaded. And reservation in promotion to the disabled people is not a forth-page news no media outlets have given it space in last two days. Its utterly strange! SC Bench however slated to take up reservation in promotion to SC/STs on 28 Jan as per reports in the media.
