Digital Accessibility testing training Course for the Visually Challenged.
Why you should join?

The IT revolution in India has created many jobs in the space of
accessibility testing, that were non-existent earlier. It is a sector which
is ideally suited for the visually impaired. Many technological
advancements, development of special screen reader software and assistive
devices have made training and performance of tasks easier than before. To
meet the growing demand, there is a real need for quality training programs
for the visually impaired and people with disabilities in general to pursue
job opportunities with the help of standardized curriculum and a mentoring
program on Accessibility Testing that would result in professional
certification, and employment within the IT industry.
 This highly subsidized course  leads to acquiring deep skills in
accessibility testing and creates pathways for course Completion
certificate from Deque University and job opportunities in the space of
Accessibility Testing.
Applications for  May 2020  session is open till 30th April 2020..

Overview
Are you a blind or visually impaired person who wants to learn the latest
technology and employment oriented skill in IT space? Vision-Aid is
launching an exciting program to teach Digital Accessibility Testing.
 Please review this message carefully to note the details on program and
admissions policy.
Schedule:
The  course begins in second half of May  2020 and  ends in end September
2020.
The course will run for around 16 weeks.
Course Fees:
The course is being offered at a highly subsidized fee of Rs.5000/-, to be
paid at the time of admission. You can apply for financial Aid. Eligible
people may be given fee concession or waiver.
Course details.
1. This is a virtual class . The class will have 10 - 15 students. Students
can participate from their own homes using Zoom.
2. The class timings will be 2 hours duration on Saturdays ( exact timings
will be intimated later.).
3. Guidance and monitoring on homework, assignments and practical
assessments will be on weekdays.
4.  Students are required to submit all weekly  homework assignments on
time. Only a teacher can recommend an extension if needed for special
cases, in consultation with the program coordinator.
5. During this program, the students will be introduced to Digital
Accessibility Testing concepts with Live scenario practice sessions.
Therefore, regular attendance and time commitment are very important.  A
student should apply to the course only if they are sure they can invest
the needed time for the entire duration of the course.
6. Once admitted a student MUST commit to attending all classes regularly
without exception. Any student who misses more than 2 classes without prior
written permission from the program coordinator may be dropped from the
course.
Who should apply :
Pre-requisites:
1. People who are vision impaired and have minimal educational
qualification of a bachelor's degree in any stream.
2. Proficient in basic computer usage with good knowledge of MS OFFICE and
Internet usage.
3. Proficient in using screen readers like NVDA or JAWS.
4. Proficient in using touch screen phones with TalkBack/Voiceover.
5. Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS is an added advantage.
6. Commitment to devote 10 – 12 hours per week to attend to course work.

Re: [AI] Difficulty in spellings of English

I feel that the two best ways to improve spellings for a vi person are:
1. Immense practice by using Enable India spelling tool
2. Reading as many English books and magazines in braille as possible.
When a spelling is read by running our finger over it, then it is most
likely to remain in the memory.
Another method can be to read the dictionary everyday and familiarize
oneself with at least 10-20 commonly used words.

One opinion,

Narrator works best for me on windows10 login screen, at least better
than Jaws and even NVDA. You can once turn it on by pressing windows +
control + enter, should load automatically from the next time. From my
experience, it loads as soon as windows login screen appears which is
definitely faster than Jaws and even NVDA most of the times.

It is not accessible on IOS either.
But it can be manageable by some alternatives.
For instance, for these recharges and bill payments, If we keep swipe there is 
"more" and if we tap on more it shows our recent options from which you can 
take your required option.
For paytm Wallet, I will go to bank's tab and from there access it.
Please check whether more option is available once you open Paytm on Android.
I had a spare Android and when I was testing Paytm I had found a great facility 
was that you could directly recharge your to a number if it was saved in your 
contacts.
Not sure whether it was general or on only Android1 phones.
Just you had to locate your desired contact and inside that contact we had an 
option to recharge.

Agree with Nautial sir, most of the times old is gold! Dictation is
the best way according to me. Writing/ typing is a better way to
remember spellings rather than just reading. Also, Chrome and MS word
along with latest version of Jaws/ NVDA do speak information about
misspelled words which is particularly helpful.

oh! there may be something wrong with jaws registry file but you need not to 
worry. I'll solve your problem, if you really need fs reader. here's the 
download link for fs reader, just download the same and hit enter on the 
folder, copy fs reader icon from the folder and keep it on the desktop. now, 
copy full folder and go to c: then, program folder then, freedom scientific. 
paste the folder here and again come on desktop , now, you can use fs reader 
like earlier.

You can try running the repair mode in Jaws. Alternatively you may
uninstall Jaws by selecting the option to remove all accessories and
then reinstall Jaws. This might sort out the problem.

Hello sir.
, uninstall Jaws with share components and user settings, in the uninstall
dialogue box, you will get two check boxes, check both the checkboxes and
hit uninstall. after successful uninstallation, go to C:\program files x86,
look there freedom scientific folder, if you get this, then delete this
from there and then install Jaws. note while installing Jaws, your computer
should be connected with internet because while installing jaws, it
downloads certain components from internet. after successful installation,
FS reader should come with Jaws.

I think, the best way to improve spellings and typing speed is to take one 
hour dictation on your pc regularly in microsoft word. i am sure! after a 
few weeks, you'll find yourself in a much better position than today, so ask

Hi kartik,

A point to raise during the discussion is the microsoft sharepoint and
it's inaccesibility in editing collaborative documents like excel
sheat etc.  While accessing excel documents in sharepoint via Web, we
are not able to edit documents in adding information in a field or
selecting an item in drop-down menu. Also, at least in chrome the
spreadsheet lay out completely vanishes and that's not an ideal way of
navigating the documents without the lay out. Or if you or any one of
you are using the sharepoint and are aware of the work around, then
please let me know.
