[AI] PF withdraw/PF transfer

2022-02-06 Thread Minar Singh
Hello team,
Can you help me on this? I have shifted to Accenture from TCS. I had
spent 8 years in TCS. I wish to withdraw PF amount. I'm still member
of EPFO with different PF account. Can i go for unemployment for more
than 2 months and apply for withdrawl?

Re: [AI] A thread to share examples of accessible platforms

2022-02-06 Thread john clayton
Hello all,
Ola usually shows 2 fares, a minimum (never expect to pay this amount) and
a maximum (always expect to pay this one) when you are setting/ requesting
a ride. If you aren't able to see any or both of these then it's an
accessibility issue and needs to be reported as such. Have taken sighted
assistance to verify this.
Personally don't use Ola either due to the Companys shady practices in
regards to fares they show which btw are usually higher than what Uber
shows, along with driver behavior which generally tends to be better on
Uber again.
 A: Don't use any.
b: The Kotak 811/ banking app seems to be accessible/ useable if you are
willing to put up with it's od quirks. There are a few unlabeled buttons,
but the experience is not as bad as I have seen elsewhere. You just need to
know how to go about doing what you want done and you should be able to do
almost everything that this app offers.
C: Makemytrip on windows at least seems to be reasonably useable, along
with the date picker, and is probably the same on IOS, but there were times
where my focus would stick at a particular place and would refuse to move
out of them few elements, touching the screen/ exploreing by touch usually
fixes this, though.
d: Amazon no issues that I am able to think of, and the experience is about
the same on both the web and on IOS and Android. Flipkart is probably the
same although the UI could be slightly more easier to use, but wouldn't
stake nothing on it as it's been a while since I have had to use it.
Hth,

Re: [AI] requesting for urgent help with teamviewer

2022-02-06 Thread john clayton
Hi,
I am actually quite surprised that no one else has suggested doing this.
Last I used anydesk, all I needed to do was to OCR the screen using nvda
and I was able to access the code just fine. you need to be using NVDA,
windows 10 for this to work, though. also insure your screen shade is
disabled before you use the OCR.
So give that a go, and you could do the same with teamviewer ( don't
install it but run it instead when the setup asks you to) run the OCR on
the teamviewer screen when it first pops up, arrow down and read out your
user ID and password to the person helping you.
you can also take sighted help to read out the code by using an app like
be my eyes and similar.
Do let us know how you get on,
best

Hi Minar,
TCS has its own trust for PF and doesn't contribute directly to the EPFO
account. As good as I know in setup like this you have an option given by
the employer to encash the PF amount instead of transferring the same,
please check with your HR.

Thanks,

Hi, Thank you for your suggestion, I'm relatively new to NVDA, and
have never explored the OCR option. I'd be grateful if you would
suggest the step-by-step keystrokes.
Thank you,

Hi,

to use the OCR feature you can press NVDA + r. You can make sure the window
is maximized by pressing windows key + up arrow, and as Nishant said do
make sure your screen curtain is not turned on.

Hope that helps

Kind regards

[AI] Mantra for independence: Equal access to education and employment

2022-02-06 Thread George Abraham
Thirty-five-year old Ghanshyam Kumar came in contact with the Eyeway
Helpdesk a few years ago, when he sought help to apply for a Unique
Disability ID. He lost his eyesight at an early age due to Retinitis
Pigmentosa. A resident of Delhi, Ghanshyam had to drop out of school after
Class 8 owing to the vision loss. Limited awareness of educational and other
life opportunities for persons with vision impairment often adversely
impacts students.

After a gap of few years, Ghanshyam resumed his studies through distance
learning, completing Class 12 and enrolling for graduation. But his family
pushed him to marry a sighted girl with whom he had three children. Unable
to provide for his family, he was desperate for employment options.

Eyeway sends out daily job alerts to around 3000 visually impaired people
via WhatsApp. Ghanshyam also subscribed to our messaging service and in turn
received information on various vacancies. In fact, he applied for a
Railways job after learning about it from Eyeway. He is in the midst of
preparing for the eligibility test.

While he was working hard to gain some financial independence, Ghanshyam's
six-year-old daughter had an accident and needed a surgery which he couldn't
afford to pay for. Eyeway took the initiative of raising money through a
crowdfunding campaign as well as through past supporters. The helpline
counselors also extended an empathetic ear to him throughout this tough
phase.

The real problem however remains to be the absence of quality education and
employment opportunities for persons with vision impairment. If people like
Ghanshyam can access good education despite their disability, their chances
of gainful employment will be much higher. Also, the lack of awareness about
rehabilitation programs pushes them into the confines of their homes. The
state along with other stakeholders like policy makers, corporates and NGOs,
need to work towards improving the quality and reach of services for the
blind population.
