Besides that, the Truecaller also gives you the ability to send WhatsApp
messages to your unsaved numbers, indeed, the number should first sit somewhere
in your call log.

Subject: [AI] Using Whatsapp?

Are you someone who uses Whatsapp frequently and has to send messages to
unknown numbers often? Are you frustrated for saving them first in your contact
list knowing that you may not even have to contact them again?
Ever wonder if there could be a solution for this and you may not have to save
the number ever again but still can send them messages? Then this post is for
you. I'm here to bring to your attention a tiny app called Click to Chat! Yes,
you heard it right! This tiny app can allow you to send Whatsapp messages
without saving the number thereby, allowing you to keep your contact list
clean. Please note, the app only allows you to search their numbers in Whatsapp
and your messages will still be sent from the Whatsapp only giving you the same
privacy and app doesn't store any data it only functions as a link between you
and Whatsapp.

Playstore description:
Did you know you can open a chat in WhatsApp with any number without saving
first into contacts by opening in your browser the link 'wa.me/123456789'
(using the prefix+number desired)?
Source: https://faq.whatsapp.com/en/android/2630/
Originally that link was longer and more difficult to remember, so I made this
tiny app to help in the process.
Since then I have added multiple functionalities (enter message, share link,
list of country codes, create shortcut, save recent and pinned, open recent
calls via add-on, and a few more) but always with these three principles:
1) Make the smaller app possible. This means no extra unrelated content, no
extra libraries and no useless things. Currently its size is around
100KB=0.1MB. Less than a standard picture!
2) Use as few permissions as possible. Only the create_shortcut permission is
used, nothing else! (no calls, no storage, no internet).
3) No ads. I hate ads. I will never add ads, adware, spyware, user tracking or
other nasty stuff.
If you want a small tool to help you open numbers in WhatsApp, try it.
If you prefer an app that sends your data to Google, there are clones out there.

Playstore link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.trianguloy.openInWhatsapp=en_IN=US

Enjoy!

Satguru.

Good morning everyone
I had flied with Indigo SpiceJet Air India and vistara airlines
And in my case I have very positive experience

According to me
Sum of the airport staff are not that much aware that how to help persons
with special needs
We need to let them understand what we require and what not so that they
can be less resistant while attending any specially abled person

How did you guys deal with this?

He is 22 and he got to know about RP seriousness 2 months back.

He spoke to councellor but then he pretends everything is in control infront of

My family is very sensitive too and they are not able to accept this as well.

He had plans of becoming developer but now he feels he can't code or won't be

I also would like to enquire about MBA from IIM ? What cutoff and concessions

Subject: [AI] Using Whatsapp?

Are you someone who uses Whatsapp frequently and has to send messages to
unknown numbers often? Are you frustrated for saving them first in your
contact list knowing that you may not even have to contact them again?
Ever wonder if there could be a solution for this and you may not have to
save the number ever again but still can send them messages? Then this post
is for you. I'm here to bring to your attention a tiny app called Click to
Chat! Yes, you heard it right! This tiny app can allow you to send Whatsapp
messages without saving the number thereby, allowing you to keep your
contact list clean. Please note, the app only allows you to search their
numbers in Whatsapp and your messages will still be sent from the Whatsapp
only giving you the same privacy and app doesn't store any data it only
functions as a link between you and Whatsapp.

Playstore description:
Did you know you can open a chat in WhatsApp with any number without saving
first into contacts by opening in your browser the link 'wa.me/123456789'
(using the prefix+number desired)?
Source: https://faq.whatsapp.com/en/android/2630/
Originally that link was longer and more difficult to remember, so I made
this tiny app to help in the process.
Only the create_shortcut permission
is used, nothing else! (no calls, no storage, no internet).
3) No ads. I hate ads. I will never add ads, adware, spyware, user tracking
or other nasty stuff.
If you want a small tool to help you open numbers in WhatsApp, try it.
If you prefer an app that sends your data to Google, there are clones out
there.

Playstore link:

Enjoy!

Re: [AI] No human should go through this: Scindia on IndiGo denying boarding to special needs child

2022-05-09 Thread Ritesh Agarwal
Hi all!

The incident is unfortunate. However, generalising that these types of
incidence are regular is unfortunate too.

Thousands of PWD travels through airlines each day and I believe that
employees working in this sector are generally sensitised.

Further, private companies follows carrot and stick approach unlike
government service where there is no disincentives if an employee does not
performs his/her job. This is the reason most people (including PWDs) wants
to join government job as it ensures job security.

Lastly, regarding regional disparities I can only say "Bandar kya jane
adrak ka swad" as people who I guess had not visited the above mentioned
states are commenting like they have done PHD on the society and its
structure of such states.

Ritesh Agarwal

Hi all,
I totally agree that privatisation is not to blame for lack of
awareness on disability issues. The most accessible companies in the
world, viz., Google, Microsoft and Apple are private companies. As far
as regional disparities is concerned it is a bitter truth. That said,
western India is no paradise for the disabled.

2022-05-09 Thread Sandeep Singh
I agree with Shampa. It's the lack of awareness on the part of the
society at large, including the govt officials and the private
players. Those who blame privatization for everything would better
look at the performance of the government sector previously and even
today. Again, most of the airlines in the developed countries are

Re: [AI] No human should go through this: Scindia on IndiGo denying boarding to special needs child

2022-05-09 Thread Sruti disAbility Rights Centre
I am very surprised by Minar Singh's comment that these kind of incidents
are happening in some states of India. Airport harassment incidents come
quite often in news. Prof Anita Ghai faced it in New Delhi, Rajiv Rajan at
Chennai.

The fact remains awareness about disability in general and particularly of
invisible disability is very low in our country. Such harassment are the
outcome of same.

[AI] WhatsApp Companion mode spotted: What it is and how does it work?

2022-05-09 Thread Minar Singh
WhatsApp Companion mode spotted: What it is and how does it work?
WhatsApp update: It is being said that this is an extension of the
multi-device feature that was added to the platform a few months back,
but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Here's everything we know about
the Companion mode.
HIGHLIGHTS
WhatsApp is working on a new Companion mode.
The feature has been spotted in the Android beta version.
The latest beta update suggests that WhatsApp is working on a new
feature called Companion mode that might make it easier for users to
log into a different phone. It is being said that this is an extension
of the multi-device feature that was added to the platform a few
months back, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. WaBetaInfo has
spotted the new feature in the 2.22.11.10 Android beta version of
WhatsApp. Here’s everything you need to know.
WhatsApp Companion mode: What is it? Why is it different from
multi-device feature?
The cited source has shared a screenshot of the feature that shows
WhatsApp might soon offer a Companion mode. It will allow users to
link their WhatsApp account to another smartphone. While WaBetaInfo
claims that the mode is related to the multi-device feature, that
doesn't seem to be the case. It appears that one won’t be able to use
the messaging app on both the phones as the screenshot shows that
WhatsApp will log you out of the primary device once you successfully
log into the second phone.
The report says that WhatsApp will also remove all the data from the
primary device. Those who will back up the chats and media to
third-party services like Google Drive or iCloud will be able to
access all the chats on the second phone. All this sounds familiar to
you? This is because WhatsApp already allows you to log into another
phone using your primary smartphone, after which you lose access to
the messaging app on the previous phone.
So, how is the new feature different from this? Well, one of the
previous reports suggests that WhatsApp is just trying to make it
easier for people to access chats on a different phone. An earlier
report of WaBetaInfo suggested that one will just be required to scan
the QR code to log in to another phone, instead of entering the phone
number and then waiting for the OTP. As of now, nothing is officially
confirmed. We might get more clarity on this feature through upcoming
updates.
What is the current multi-device feature?
Currently, WhatsApp allows you to link one account to up to four
devices at a time. For example, users can access their WhatsApp
messages on their laptops as well as their work PC without a phone.
Users just need the smartphone at a time when they need to connect
WhatsApp to any other device. This is done by just scanning the QR
code using their smartphone.
Once you give access to your WhatsApp account, you will be able to use
the messaging app even when your primary phone is switched off. This
is a great feature as there are times when your phone’s battery is
dead and you need WhatsApp to connect with someone on an urgent basis.
So, you will be able to do it on your laptop tooe

do we need an aviation minister at all?
Indian government holds no airlines with it and they are privatizing everything.
when the government starts the policy of divestment, it is the
privetocracy which rules.
inclusion, empathy, etc. are while giving the advertisements and not
to be followed in the ground level in the private sector.
let us dream of better India and go worse.
all the best.

  Hi,
I don't know much about vivo phones, I or no one around me has ever used them.
However, vivo phones are more for offline markets and tend to give less value
for money.
As far as redmi is concerned, Redmi once was amongst the best and even today
is, in terms of specks.
However, Redmi phones have a reputation of lot of adds and crap preinstalled.
  You cannot uninstall the junk.
And, as far as I am concerned, I don't trust redmi in terms of data security
much.
Their updates are also very terrible.
I recommend looking for a Samsung or Motorola phone.
Though I would love to know your budget range.
Motorola phones are pure stock android, as per samsung, they too have some
bloatware but that can be uninstalled.
You can also configure the settings to not see adds.
Samsung has also promised 4 years of android updates.
I am a Samsung user from the last 10 months, my experience has been good.

  regards

I think This is not company's fault. Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and
North east states are lagging behind in the field of disability
advocacy and empowerment on ground level. sensitisation at local level
matters a lot in shaping public view. I remember few months back
Cerebral palsy affected person had to undergo similar discrimination
at Subhash Chandra international airport in Kolkata. He was not
permitted to travel alone due to his disability.

Re: [AI] No human should go through this: Scindia on IndiGo denying boarding to special needs child

2022-05-09 Thread Payal Ki Jhankar
George, this has nothing to do with any one cross-section of
disability having a good experience with Indigo. this is more about
how, despite said disability sensitization and policies in place,
there is still so much lacking. neuro diverse individuals have just as
much a right to travel, as any of us.
the gaping hole in the system is what needs to be questioned here.

Re: [AI] Please throw some light on Red me Phone

2022-05-09 Thread Saurav Hegde
Hi,
I don't know much about vivo phones, I or no one around me has ever used
them.
However, vivo phones are more for offline markets and tend to give less
value for money.
As far as redmi is concerned, Redmi once was amongst the best and even
today is, in terms of specks.
However, Redmi phones have a reputation of lot of adds and crap
preinstalled.
You cannot uninstall the junk.
And, as far as I am concerned, I don't trust redmi in terms of data
security much.
I am a Samsung user from the last 10 months, my experience has been good.

regards

Re: [AI] Please throw some light on Red me Phone

2022-05-09 Thread Akash Kakkar

Definitely, Redmi/Xiaomi phones are far better than Vivo or Oppo.

The thing which may concern you is they provide a lot of bloat and adds,
but if you are somewhat technical user, then you'll be able to easily
deal with that stuff.

Vivo and Oppo both mess up badly with internal accessibility APIs which
can sometimes create problems with screen readers.

Also, if you are beginning in this space, then I'd recommend you to go
with stock android instead of custom skins.

Jyotiraditya Scindia seeks VAT reduction on aviation turbine fuel in MPUnion
Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Days after budget airline IndiGo allegedly denied boarding to a specially abled
child on a Hyderabad-bound flight at the Ranchi airport, Union Civil Aviation
Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia condemned the incident and said that he was
investigating the matter himself.
“There is zero tolerance towards such behaviour. No human being should have to
go through this!” Scindia tweeted on Monday morning, in response to a detailed
account shared by a passenger who was present at the airport at the time of the
incident. “Investigating the matter by myself, post which appropriate action
will be taken.”

Re: [AI] Counsellor

2022-05-09 Thread Rakshit Malik
Let your brother go ahead with his interests. He may choose a field
that is inaccessible currently, but accessibility, with obvious
efforts, is quite creatable. A few years ago, I was suggested to not
learn Persian; it was proposed that my disability would make such
learning impossible. But, as it turns out, it is challenging but very
much possible, and I am currently on the second level -- hopefully
towards a career in historical research.

I agree with Vaibhav and Ajay. I am 24 and myself in the
career-building phase. You have my contact number, and I am more than
happy to talk with your sibling.

All best,
Rakshit

RE: [AI] Using Whatsapp?

2022-05-09 Thread George Abraham
Is this little App available for iPhone users too?

Enjoy!

Satguru.

Re: [AI] Looking for visually impaired management consultants

2022-05-09 Thread Ajay Minocha
Hi Preetham,

Have been few months as a client-serving consultant, think I can
answer your doubts.
At the outset, consulting can be fruitful career option only if the
employer is ready to accept following 2 things.
1. Making and especially formatting fancy PPTs may not be possible and
if we somehow manage to do that, we take quite a lot of time for the
work which could have been done in few clicks by a sighted person.
2. As a consultant, you are the face of the company in front of your
clients hence it definitely matters how accepting your clients are.

I personally chose BFSI as we deal with large MNC banks which are
generally not discriminatory.

Happy to chat over a call,
Ajay

Completely agree with Vaibhav, a lot of the main-stream counselors do
not have idea about the various fields where a visually impaired
person can work.
Happy to discuss over a call, I work as a senior consultant in one of

[AI] Guiding from lived experience!

2022-05-09 Thread George Abraham
One of the challenges that comes with disability is coping with the social
stigma around it. When a person is born without vision, a certain picture of
reality sets in the minds of the people around him or her. Moreover, the
person also accepts the state as it is, unaware of another mode of
existence. But for someone who acquires disability at a later stage,
struggles doubly to accept the new reality and admit it to the surrounding
community. They often remain obsessed with 'what was'.

Eyeway receives calls from persons with late blindness, who are offered not
just practical solutions but a lot of counseling to adapt and accept the
loss of sight. Twenty-four-year-old Niranjan Patil experienced vision loss
during his graduation. He was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) and
Macular Dystrophy, both degenerating eye conditions.

Unable to come to terms with his altered sense of existence, he kept it
hidden from his peers and teachers. It was only after consistently failing
some subjects that one of his teachers inquired about the issue. Niranjan
was then put in touch with a visually impaired person in Mumbai who could
help him with tips on living life with blindness. Although it was useful,
Niranjan felt that his problem was different from this person who was born
blind. He insisted on seeking support from someone who went through a
similar scenario.

He was then put in touch with Eyeway Helpdesk counselor in Mumbai who also
experienced sight loss due to RP in her early twenties. She could relate to
his frustration on every front and offered him a patient hearing. Niranjan's
focus was on reversing or correcting his eye condition which was nearly
impossible. The counselor took a fair bit of time and repeated phone calls
to convince him to shift focus on rehabilitating and upskilling instead.

Motivated by the regular interactions, Niranjan reappeared for his exams,
taking help from his friends and using the smartphone. Learning about the
various private sector and government job opportunities, he decided to
enroll for an MBA course. But he needed a disability certificate to avail
admission and reasonable accommodation as a visually impaired student.

Unfortunately, the process of acquiring a Unique Disability Identity card
took a rather tedious turn. The local civil hospital in the Chikkodi
district of Karnataka failed to correctly assess his disability, terming it
lower than the 40% benchmark set by law. The counselor realized that the
hospital was ill-equipped to make an accurate assessment and directed
Niranjan to the Belgaum Civil hospital.

Although the doctors in Belgaum noted his disability at 60%, they couldn't
officially issue a certificate because his application was filed with the
system in Chikkodi civil hospital. Both Niranjan and the Eyeway counselor
tried to argue his case with the medical authorities but they were turned
down with insults and apathetic behaviour. Forced to take the legal route,
Eyeway approached the State Commissioner of Persons with Disabilities (SCPD)
in Karnataka.

After a long-drawn official intervention from the SCPD office, Niranjan was
issued a disability ID with 60% certification. But it was too late as the
MBA course application deadline lapsed and now he has to wait another year
for admission. The counselor told him not to be disappointed and use this
one year to gain skills for independent living. He has now enrolled for a
training program at Enable India, a Bangalore based NGO where he will
acquire skills to use computers with screen reading software, work on his
communication and mobility.

Lack of awareness leads to exclusion from mainstream opportunities and
ignorance among medical professionals is even more damaging, as is evident
from Niranjan's case. He lost a few years adjusting to his late blindness
and another one thanks to insensitive authorities.

the incident and said that he was investigating the matter himself.
“There is zero tolerance towards such behaviour. No human being should
