[AI] Learning of the Day

2022-06-14 Thread NAB Delhi Helpline
Google Drive now lets you Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V to speed you up.

Google Drive has evolved into a useful tool in our daily lives. Managing
your files is now much easier. You can finally use keyboard shortcuts to
move files around in Google Drive.

The shortcuts themselves are the same as those found on your PC or Mac.
This means you can copy, cut, and paste files by pressing Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X,
and Ctrl+V, respectively. Within Google Drive by using these shortcut keys,
you can copy and paste files between folders. Copying a file also copies
its URL and title, allowing you to paste it into a Google Docs document or
even an email.

Subject: [AI] Informal convening on digital accessibility, Friday, 17th June,
5-6 pm IST,

CAUTION: This email is originated from outside Canara Bank. Do not click any
links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know that the
content is safe.
Dear Access Indians,

My name is Rahul Bajaj. I am a Senior Resident Fellow at the Vidhi Centre for
Legal Policy and a Rhodes Scholar. Being blind since birth, I am very
passionate about making the world more accessible for the disabled. A
particular focus area that I have recently been working on is digital
accessibility – making apps and websites more disabled friendly.

In furtherance of this interest, I am organising an informal convening of all
persons involved in, or impacted by, work related to digital accessibility in
Delhi. We will meet on Friday, 17th June 2022 from 5:00-6:00 PM. This will be
an in person meeting. The address is:
Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy,
A-232, Ratan Lal Sahdev Marg, Block A, Defence Colony, New Delhi, Delhi .

I hope that we can collectively ideate on what we can do to make the right to
digital accessibility a reality for the disabled people in India. This week
presents itself as a particularly opportune moment for such a discussion as it
marks the fifth anniversary of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules,
2017, coming into force.

I hope to see you there! Please do indicate to me, by return mail, whether you
will be in attendance. This will help us plan better. In case you have any
questions, please feel free to reach out to me (+91 9890281068)

Warmly,
Rahul

Public Notice Inviting Comments on the draft National Policy for Persons with
Disabilities

The existing National Policy for Persons with Disabilities was adopted in 2006.
Since then, a number of developments has taken place in disability sector which
include signing of United Nations Convention on the Rights of Person with
Disabilities (UNCRPD) by India in October, 2007, enactment of the Rights of
Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 in line with this Convention and adoption
of National Education Policy 2020 which promotes inclusive education.

2. Keeping in view the above development, a Committee was constituted under
Secretary, DEPwD and consisting of persons with disabilities & their
associations and other experts to review the existing National Policy for
Persons with Disabilities, 2006 and to suggest a new draft National Policy for
Persons with Disabilities.

3. The Committee constituted a Task Force under Joint Secretary, DEPwD to draft
a new National Policy for Persons with Disabilities for its consideration. The
Task Force submitted its recommendations with a draft new National Policy for
Persons with Disabilities to the Committee on 12.10.2021. The Committee
deliberated on the draft National Policy suggested by the Task Force. Based on
its deliberations and inputs from the members, the Committee suggested a draft
new National Policy for Persons with Disabilities which could be placed for
wider stakeholder consultation.

4. The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities hereby invites
comments from the public on the Draft National Policy for Persons with
Disabilities as placed at Annexure by 9th July, 2022 (i.e. within 30 days from
the date of placing the Notice in the website). Comments on this draft National
Policy may kindly be sent by email at panda...@nic.in and

It was accessible last year also. I used it myself. The only problem
was that it was not updated when the last date was extended up to
December 31. It calculated late fee taking into account July 31 as the
last date.

residence. Progress of the status of the request should be regularly updated
online.
11 The roads and footpaths must be made disabled friendly and all payment
towards construction / repairs for the same may be done to the contractors on
self declaration basis. Flash audit should be routinely carried out to examine
the veracity of the certification and stringent penalties be levied on any
deficiency of accessibility norms in addition blacklisting vendors repeatedly
breaching accessibility norms.

12 Disabled persons should be provided with preferential allotment of parking
including private apartments. Sugamya Bharath may be approached by disabled
persons for its implementation
13 All disability identity card should be subsumed by UDID card and UDID card

throughout the country.

the type of disability andits percentage
15 UDID cards should be provided to all disabled persons within 6 months.
Special camps may be carried out for its role out. Business process re
engineering may be adopted for its smooth role out. Severe penalties may be

[AI] Informal convening on digital accessibility, Friday, 17th June, 5-6 pm IST,

2022-06-14 Thread Rahul Bajaj
Dear Access Indians,

My name is Rahul Bajaj. I am a Senior Resident Fellow at the Vidhi Centre
for Legal Policy and a Rhodes Scholar. Being blind since birth, I am very
passionate about making the world more accessible for the disabled. A
particular focus area that I have recently been working on is digital
accessibility – making apps and websites more disabled friendly.

In furtherance of this interest, I am organising an informal convening of
all persons involved in, or impacted by, work related to digital
accessibility in Delhi. We will meet on Friday, 17th June 2022 from
5:00-6:00 PM. This will be an in person meeting. The address is:

Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy,

*A-232*, Ratan Lal Sahdev Marg, Block A, Defence Colony, New Delhi, Delhi .

I hope that we can collectively ideate on what we can do to make the right
to digital accessibility a reality for the disabled people in India. This
week presents itself as a particularly opportune moment for such a
discussion as it marks the fifth anniversary of the Rights of Persons with
Disabilities Rules, 2017, coming into force.

I hope to see you there! Please do indicate to me, by return mail, whether
you will be in attendance. This will help us plan better. In case you have
any questions, please feel free to reach out to me (+91 9890281068)

Warmly,

Rahul

[AI] Interview with Samayak Jain

2022-06-14 Thread NAB Delhi Helpline
“Don’t consider yourself as less than anyone. You are more than capable and
you can show the world that you do not need their “sympathy”. Keep fighting
and keep your chin high”, says Samyak Jain for people with visual
impairments in an interview with NAB Delhi.

Samyak Jain scored AIR 7 in UPSC CSE 2021. As a late blind person, he faced
a lot of struggles but did not let them get in the way of his dream. He
shares that with the use of assistive technology and accessible study
resources from ‘Sugamya Pustakalaya’, he was able to cover every topic and
eventually achieve his dream.

He looks forward to his training at LBSNAA and hopes to make everyone who
is inspired by his journey proud.
