RE: [AI] queries about airtel xstream set top box.

2022-07-21 Thread prashant.rv
Hello,

I have not been using the Airtel Xtreme Box for some time now.

I checked it today. It seems some things have changed.

I opened Settings, then Device Settings and then Accessibility.

Accessibility Shortcut should be On and Talkback should be selected as the
accessibility service to be activated on using the shortcut.

Here on my screen it says that the accessibility shortcut is Back button with
down button pressed for 3 seconds.

However, I am able to successfully activate and deactivate Talkback using the
volume up and Down arrow pressed together.

Talkback is not reading much, when channels are changed, it does not speak
channel name or program name.

I think whatever accessibility we are getting with most Indian apps is
accidental, no one is doing any testing for accessibility.

Thanks,

Prashant

Friends, good morning.

Recently I got installed airtel xstream set top box on the Sony bravia

Though accessibility shortcut services are enabled and When I press the back

What is the actual shortcut to enable the talkback.

Tried with volume buttons but no results.

Long back if I remember, Prashanth was shared some of his experiences about the
set up box and tried to get the archived mail, but, couldn’t get it.

[AI] Fwd: Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Amendment) Rules, 2022

2022-07-21 Thread Vaishnavi Jayakumar (Inclusive India)
FYI - today is last day for submission on RPwD Rules amendment.

-- Forwarded message -
From: Vaishnavi Jayakumar
Date: Thu, 21 Jul 2022 at 20:57
Subject: Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Amendment) Rules, 2022
To:

Dear Mr. Panda,

DRAFT RULES' AMENDMENT
>
> 1. Short title and extent.-
> (1) These rules may be called the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
> (Amendment) Rules, 2022.
> (2) They shall come into force from the date of their publication in
> the Official Gazette.
> 2. In the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017, in rule (15),
> in sub-rule (1), for clause (a), the following clause shall be substituted,
> namely:-
> “ (a) Standard for public buildings as specified in the Harmonised
> Guidelines and Standards for Universal Accessibility in India – 2021,
> issued by the Government of India, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs
> vide letter no. 28012/09/2019-W3, dated the 27th December, 2021
> , as
> amended from time to time and made available on
> https://drive.google.com/file/d/1d4dedBt2cw-JEvy_qqSodQ9ENfOyNfef/view
> ”.
> [F. No. 38-05/2022-DD-III (Part -1)]
> RAJESH YADAV, Jt. Secy.

1) As the remit of the 2021 Harmonised Guidelines is of universal
accessibility and not restricted to buildings per se, I would suggest that
the above amendment clause (a) instead should echo the first line of
Section 15 (1) and read :

   (a) Standard for public buildings *and physical environment* as
specified in the Harmonised Guidelines and Standards for Universal
Accessibility in India as revised from time to time by the Ministry of
Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India and published on
accessibilitycode.gov.in .

*Explanation for changes : * Providing the contents of the Harmonised
Guidelines currently in force, as well-structured, hyperlinked html on a
standalone official website with '.gov.in' extension will make these
statutory requirements more discoverable, easier to look up the verified up
to date accessibility code and cross reference the same instead of the
current confusion of many documents with the same cover. (The gazette
version referenced for example is 360 pages

and published December 2021, whereas the more recent version on the CPWD
website published in March 2022 is 474 pages
.) The online resource
could also provide the soft copy of the print version as ePub and PDF, high
resolution images of the drawings, scope for Indian language versions of
the code, and the interface for suggesting further changes and
improvements. Removing the date from the Standard's name in the RPwD Rules
will make further minor amendments of this sort redundant.

2) There are already changes that need to be made in the Harmonised
Guidelines - bus shelter design lacks the boarding platform for low floor
buses, non-slip floor parameters are not defined clearly, emergency
provisions for crisis scenarios need to be expanded. Given that this should
ideally be a living standard, I would propose that a committee be formed
with suitable representation on the lines of BIS committees which will
receive and review suggestions in a transparent manner and make changes to
this evolving document on a 6 monthly basis to start off with.

3) A similar form of feedback is essential for the RPwD Act and Rules, many
other amendments and corrections are pending - see http://bit.ly/rpwd-annot
. Can this be addressed too, please?

Thanks,

Sincerely,

Vaishnavi Jayakumar

Re: [AI] ways to install Windows XP in virtual machine

2022-07-21 Thread Shahzada Saleem
hi gajendra,
hope i had written your name correctly.
I am really surprised after knowing that you are looking for ways to
install windows XP in your virtual machine.
Anyway from a long time I am using these VMS to explore those OSs,
and long back I had tried to install XP on VM ware but let me know you
that I saw excellent “kind of infinite lag!” lag on VM while running
XP though I had tried that with NVDA2017.2 but I have no ideas that
still XP support NVDA higher versions or not.
But I think your experiences will be not good with XP “the grand pa of
operating systems!”
If still you wana give try or just recreate the nostalgia of early
2000’s so you may visit https://app.deskmate.de/ to use XP on cloud!
Hope this may be helpful for you.

Just sharing my thoughts and experience on this topic.
There are no other ways in installing the windows xp taking the help from the
sighted assistance. Though you have a choice of talking windows
pre-environment it may not give you the better experience on the installation
because of audio drivers incompatibility.

in the field of visually impaired by contacting them. You can also order it

[AI] Unable to open account in Axis Bank

2022-07-21 Thread Rosaline Arulappa
Hi all,
Warm greetings to all Access India group members. I tried to open a
savings bank Account in Axis Bank yesterday and I only use thumb
impression. The Bank branch is telling me that they do not know the
procedure for creating an Account for the visually challenged as it
seems that I was the first such case for that branch. They also say
that creating account through video kit is not possible for persons
using thumb impression. So they say that Account should be created
only manually and even for that they are not sure about the
procedure. Can someone throw light on this subject please.

Regards,
Rosaline

Re: [AI] Minutes - Weekly meeting on July 16, 2022

2022-07-21 Thread Rahul Bajaj
agree, Harish sir. I think both paths can be pursued together. Seeking the
enforcement of what is already on the statute book and seeking legislative
reform to have stronger penalties. The service provider lobby in india is
very strong. so getting any penalties approved will be very hard.
Pragmatically, therefore, I think we often simply have to work with the
framework that we have, imperefect as it is.
