Re: [AI] Visual impairment Certification

2022-08-04 Thread Amiyo Biswas
Hello Mangal,

Previously, certain hospitals were assigned for certain municipal wards, such
as, RG Kar Hospital for wards 1-35, Calcutta Medical College for wards 36-70,
NRS Hospital for wards 71-105, and National Medical College for the remaining
wards from 106.

I think, the system is still there. You have to apply to the respective
hospital with your current disability certificate, proof of residence, letter
from your local councilor, aadhaar etc.

If you are above 35 years of age, you will get a permanent disability
certificate.

With best regards,
Amiyo Biswas

Thankyou Mahesh and Shankar for the detailed inputs.
We will take these issues up with ICICI Bank.
As regards Axis Bank, our communication with the concerned persons has hit a
dead end.
We are exploring alternate ways of taking up these issues.

Indeed Rahul-possible to get clarity on whether they want to retain
GIGW? Accordingly either we can modify the rule 15 language or omit
sub-clauses and insert the fresh sub-clause.

Also think we should tinker with the PDF and Epub language.

Re: [AI] confusions regarding scribe guidelines of NTA

2022-08-04 Thread Mission Accessibility
Aniruddh,

NFB has indeed challenged this requirement. it is also contrary to the SC's
judgment in VIkash Kumar, as the court observed orally. The NTA has been
asked to do away with this condition. A positive outcome should come soon.

All good suggestions. Let's submit our suggestions, and also push for the
other amendments to rule 15 that we have been asking for, through this
process. This is a golden opportunity to settle the law once and for all.

[AI] confusions regarding scribe guidelines of NTA

2022-08-04 Thread anirudh rao
dear friends,
since the NTA has taken the responsibility of conducting the NET
exams, there are many inconveniences that the students with disability
are made to face.
admit cards are not issued on time and mostly issued just before two
days of the examination.
it is a grate difficulty to find the scribes in a short time span.
as we all know that in order to find the scribe, the center must be clear first.
there are also the confusions in the scribe guidelines as whether we
are permitted to take our own scribe.
there was a notice that was put on NTA's website which denied the
blind individuals to take our own scribes.
I have heard that NFB has stood against this and have no further updates.
please enlighten me if you have any information/updates on the matter.

[AI] Book Announcement

2022-08-04 Thread NAB Delhi Helpline
National Association for the Blind (NAB) Delhi is organising a “Self
Defense Training Program” for women with disabilities in collaboration with
American India Foundation (AIF).

Women with disabilities face up to 10 times more violence than those
without disabilities (according to a global study conducted by UNFPA). This
is primarily because of their intersectional disadvantaged position in the
society and vulnerability that comes with limited communication and/or
mobility.

This self-defense training program aims at empowering women with
disabilities so that they can learn to protect themselves in dangerous
situations and avoid physical/sexual abuse. The training is available both
online and offline. It is completely free of cost and can be availed by
women with disabilities who belong to the age group of 16 to 50 years old.

The last date to apply is 16th August 2022.

Interested candidates can apply by clicking on the link below:

For further details, please contact NAB Delhi’s helpline no. 9212319672,
