Re: [AI] Running Kurzweil 1000 on Snapdragon X Elite Processor
Hello Pranav, Thank you for your prompt response. I attempted to install Kurzweil 1000 on a demo device in the showroom, but the installation was unsuccessful. This could potentially be due to restricted administrative rights on the demo device, or perhaps incompatibility between the x86 layer and Kurzweil 1000. Additionally, we managed to install JAWS on the same device, and it installed quickly and functioned efficiently, which I thought was worth mentioning. Could you please let me know if you have encountered any use cases where Kurzweil 1000 was successfully installed on a Surface Laptop 7 with the X Elite processor? I would appreciate your insights on this.Looking forward to your thoughts. Re: [AI] Regarding change in the accessibility of Gmail in standard view.
Hello all Many thanks. As I have turned off the show mark option in inbox settings, it has solved the problem. Since one of us have mentioned to press the letter U, in that case it will only read the subject line and not the name of the sender. So turning off the show mark option is the best solution available. [AI] Suggestions regarding accessible voice reminder.
Hello Access Indians I am writing to you in connection to seek suggestions regarding accessible voice reminder. As you all might be knowing that Alexa has stopped its hands free mode in the case when the app is not on screen and more over the tone used by Alexa for reminder is too low to be heard, in the light of this, kindly suggest me some android app on which voice reminders can be created merely by speaking and it should remind us the task either by loud voice queues or by loud tone. I also ended up trying Google assistant but the problem with that is it only gives notifications related to reminder and doesn’t plays any sound just as it has a loud tone in the case of timer. The problem with timer is that it can only be set if the event is within 24 hours. Any leads on this would be greatly appreciated and I shall be earnestly waiting to hear from you on this. [AI] Regarding the arrow keys on the laptop keyboard.
Hello Access Indians I am writing to you in connection to one of my observations regarding the narrowing of up and down arrow keys in the upcoming laptop models. Actually I am considering to buy a laptop and most of the laptop models which I have come across has narrow up and down arrow keys. Given the fact that in our case when all of the work is done by arrow keys I found it to be quite inconvenient to work around narrow up and down keyboard keys and moreover in most of the laptops the arrow keys have been shifted to the inner side towards the spacebar which is also making things difficult for me. Just to brief you currently I am using Del Vostro 3550 and its keyboard keys and arrow keys are quite well spaced out and arrow keys are towards extreme right. It is my humble request to kindly suggest me such laptop preferably in Del laptop with the screen size 14 in which the above mentioned issue is resolved. It would be good if the keyboard layout is similar to Del Vostro 3550. Kindly do not suggest me to work on external keyboard as I find it to be quite cumbersome to take along accessories. I shall be waiting eagerly to hear from you on this. [AI] Resolving online accessibility related issues at higher level.
Hello Access Indians I am writing this mail to put forth my view that, rather than running bank after bank or organisation after organisation for online accessibility related problems, it would be prudent on our part if we can file a PIL in the court of law and simultaneously take up the issue at the ministry of social justice, ministry of information and broadcasting and finance ministry. Not only running after various organisations and banks takes toll over our capacities and becomes exhaustive process, but also it would be difficult to track down various organisations and sensitize them when we doesn’t have substantial numbers. The idea behind this exercise is not to personally take dig at somebody, however the whole idea is to resolve the issue related to online accessibility amicably for ones and for all. Regarding captcha, my personal opinion is also that audio captcha is not much reliable as there are various factors required to make it accessible, rather than that it would be good if we all can lobby for OTP based sign in from the ® phone numbers. [AI] Inaccessibility of SBI internet banking & Yono app.
Hello access Indians I am writing this mail to draw your attention to the inaccessibility of internet banking of SBI and Yono app. As SBI have upgraded both their internet banking user interface and Yono app, in their internet banking portal they have added the option of visual captcha. Despite the fact that there is an option of audio captcha, it is of practically no use as it is quite often delayed and too low to be audible. I suggest that there should be an option of logging in via OTP either by phone or by email. Similarly in Yono app if we have to login via MPin, considering the security concerns the digits on the virtual numeric keypad comes randomly rather than coming in ascending order. I suggest that they should leave an option in the settings for the users to decide if they want digits in a numeric keypad in ascending order or in a random way? I raised the above mentioned two concerns on the portal of customer management services, rather than going to the top authorities, it went to the bank manager of my home branch. Since these top level decisions fall outside his domain, raising these issues on CMS of SBI did no good. Then I sent a message to SBI on twitter. I am still awaiting response. It is my humble request if there is any top official from SBI in the list, kindly take it up or just as some of us sensitised PayTm, we need to take this issue up with the management of SBI too. I shall be eagerly waiting to hear from you on this. I am writing this mail to bring to your kind notice that initially when we were getting mails from access India, we use to get all the mails as one mail. But recently we are getting mail sent by each member as a separate mail. It is not only cluttering the inbox, but also day in and day out in the flood of mails we are missing some of our really important mails. It is happening as we have to unnecessarily shift through bulk of mails which doesn’t even matter to us. It is my humble submission to kindly put all the mails sent by each member in one mail which should have a frequency of one mail a day. I personally and on the behalf of all the members who are with me in this issue would like to thank you in advance. Waiting eagerly to hear from the moderators Sincerely -- Abhay Vir Singh Kanwar Faculty: Department of Humanities, Social Sciences & Management National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur Jharkhand India 831014 +919430797071 The list has now migrated to www.accessindia.inclusivehabitat.in You should now post to the id: a...@accessindia.inclusivehabitat.in Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe. [AI] Queries regarding accessibility of LinkedIn and android app telecasting Hindi soaps.
Hello everyone I am writing this mail to seek suggestions from you people. When I open my LinkedIn account, its page doesn’t seems to have a specific structure like the HTML or the mobile version of Facebook when we use it on desktop. I personally find the page to be extremely inaccessible with the screen reading softwares like jaws 16. I have to scrawl the entire page with the help of arrow keys, which I personally feel to be extremely time consuming. I’ve also tried m.linkedin.com but that also doesn’t seems to work well, as no matter how many times you keep on pressing various buttons on the page, but nothing seems to be working. Secondly I am trying to lookout for an accessible android app which must be telecasting Hindi soaps on the channels like starplus, Sony TV, ZTV etc. Any Leeds from your side on this would be deeply appreciated. Waiting to hear from you Sincerely -- Abhay Vir Singh Kanwar Faculty: Department of Humanities, Social Sciences & Management National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur Jharkhand India 831014 +91-9430-797071 & +91-736--284 Register at the dedicated AccessIndia list for discussing accessibility of mobile phones / Tabs on: http://mail.accessindia.org.in/mailman/listinfo/mobile.accessindia_accessindia.org.in Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe. [AI] Hello Access Indians
In my previous post I asked that if anybody is residing in Jamshedpur or nearby areas, kindly let me know as I wanted to install Jaws 17 and Kurzweil 1000 version 13. But as if now I haven’t received any reply. Kindly let me know. Another thing I wanted to inquire about is that is: 1 Which is the most accessible website with respect to screen readers for watching TV programs online? 2 Which antivirus is the best for laptop? and it should also be accessible with screen reader. Kindly let me know. Waiting to hear from you guys. -- Abhay Vir Singgh Kanwar Faculty: Department of Humanities social sciences & Management National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur +91-7738709712 Register at the dedicated AccessIndia list for discussing accessibility of mobile phones / Tabs on: http://mail.accessindia.org.in/mailman/listinfo/mobile.accessindia_accessindia.org.in Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe. Hello access Indians As mentioned in the subject line I am looking for an alternative through which we can read web captcha. I heard of something called webism.
