Re: [AI] Please recommend me Any good Android phone/tablet

2022-02-19 Thread BHAVESH PATEL
Hi Minar,

the phone has 5000 Mah battery, since phone comes with stock android,
the accessibility is quite at grater level! comes with 4 Gb ram, 64 GB
storage. the phone is equipped with mediatec helio G85 processor, so
processor is good for screen reader user's point of view. The only con
you could possibally think of, is that phone comes with android 10,
but Micromax may give upgrades for newer android versions. but since
she is a basic user, having android 10/11 may not matter much.
HTH.

Hi Sir,

Looking at the supported future updates, I would highly recommend you
to go for the iPhone 5/5c/5s, as they have much better hardware specs
and would support more features in the up-coming IOS8 and later than
the iPhone 4s.
Thanks,

[AI] Fwd: [TTZ] Will we be saying, bye bye to Braille!

2014-05-03 Thread BHAVESH PATEL
Researchers from MIT Media Labs are developing a wearable device that can
read out printed text using a synthesized voice, helping the sight-impaired
read books without the use of Braille.

Called the FingerReader, the ring-like device has a mounted camera for
scanning text. Audio feedback comes in the form of a robot voice that sounds
like it has a speech impediment. However, according to the research team's
website, the device is "just a research prototype at this point," so audio
feedback would be fixed if and when it becomes available to the mass market.

To help the sight-impaired read text more efficiently, the device has cues
or "haptic feedback" to help blind readers maintain a straight scanning
motion with their finger. It gives out a vibration signal when their finger
veers away from the line of text, and does the same thing when they've
reached the end and the start of every line of text.

The device can't read the fine print in your contracts, but it can detect
12-point printed text, which is ubiquitous enough when it comes to printed
text. In an interview with TechCrunch, Roy Shilkrot, one of the researchers
for the project, hopes that the device will help more than the visually
impared. He said that the device is for people with "disability, ability,
and superability" and hinted that it could be used to translate languages.

http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/fingerreader-h...

The team behind the FingerReader is said to be looking into miniaturization
and features such as tethering to a PC or smartphone. If you want to see the
device in action, check out the demo video below.

Re: [AI] How to stop jaws announcing grafic#

2014-02-18 Thread BHAVESH PATEL
Hi Mohib,

Follow the steps given below in order to not make jaws announce
graphic announcement:

If you're using jaws 12 or prior then:
1. When in the file/programmes list, open insurt+V to invoke the JAWS
verbocity dialogue box.
2. Press G, untill you here jaws say "Graphic verbocity all graphics".
3. press spacebar to change the settings to "Labelled".
4. Press escape to close the dialogue.
Note: all the steps also apply when you do the same in settings center.
If you're using jaws 13 and later, then there is only 1 difference
that is, you will landup in a search box when you press insurt+V. You
may type in "grapic" without the quotes of some initial letters of the
word. The search results shown below will be filtered accordingly. You
can press down arrow to read the results filtered. When you are done
with appropriate settings, press escape to close the dialogue.
Hope it helps.
Thanks,
Bhavesh.

Firstly, Google maps is most accessible on the android platform, and

Secondly, You may try booking tickets via IRCTC on firefox using some

[AI] A bank related query

2013-07-15 Thread BHAVESH
Hi Friends,

I have a query with regards to doing the signature. Firstly, is that
possible to modify my current signature (which is currently thum
impression)? Actually i am a totally blind person, and I want to sign
every time i do any bank related activity, such as withdrawing the
amount. The people in the concerned branch of SBI say, that I can't do
any signature, as i am totally blind. And that's the reason they are
not excepting my current pan card, which has my full signature. My
understanding is, that if one feels confertabel to sign, then why
isn't he or she allowed to do so?
Thanks in advance,
Bhavesh.

Re: [AI] Information required regarding the screen reading software for UNIX operating system

2013-07-05 Thread BHAVESH
Hi Vikram,

As per what I know, there are various different os available under
unix, such as ubunto, suse, Boss (bhartiya operating systems
solutions) etc. Thus it is very important to know which OS will your
friend will be given to use. Because what I have observed, Orca does
not seam to work fine with the latest edition of ubunto. The best
result i found of orca working fine was on Boss OS. So please inform
your friend to ask which OS of unix is he likely to use.
Thanks,

Hi Rakesh,

I am really glad, that you have taken an initiative to mention the
important issues faced by persons with disabilities for the IRCTC
website. But i am afraid, that IRCTC will listen to those issues, As i
have heard, they have already said that they are not willing to make
the website/portal accessible to the pwd. However i will appriciate if
they resolve the issues faced by us. There's no harm in trying.

Subject: [AI] Thinking of purchasing a Kindle
From: Rahul Bajaj
Date: 22/12/2012 1.24 am

Hi all,

I am thinking of buying a Kindle.
I immensely enjoy reading books, and it's very hard to find good books in an
accessible format.

I know that the level of accessibility offered by the Kindle isn't great, but
I believe it's still decent.

So, please share your suggestions about this.
Is there any other accessible reading device that you would recommend for
reading books?

Cheers,
Rahul

Hi,

u can certainly avail the ATM benefit. Actually at SBI i was told, that i won't
be given an ATM simply because i am blind, dispite of showing them the RBI
guidelines. However since i fought with the support of XRCVC,i could get the
ATM facility.
Thanks,

* AccessWorld Holiday Gift Guide 2012: Practical and Fun Gifts for
People who are Blind or Visually Impaired, by J.J. Meddaugh
<http://www.afb.org/afbpress/pub.asp?DocID=aw131102>

traditions. As the holidays approach, each year AccessWorld endeavors to
offer a smorgasbord of gift giving options to its readers in the form of
the holiday gift guide.
* 'Tis the Season: Navigating Online Shopping Websites with a

start button, there for the navigation is very difficult. since windows 95 to
windows 7 we have been using start button to select all others installed

but I think this is the major changes has been made by microsofp.
To navigate all others programs first press window key and then press the first

Re: [AI] My first two weeks with Samsung S3

2012-10-09 Thread BHAVESH
Hi all,

I think all of us can use the touch screen devices efficiently. Even I
was also scared from the touch screen devices when I was given An I
phone for the first time at my company (Barrierbreak technologies).
However with some practice, I can now use it without hezitency! I can
even demo if required to sighted folks. even for those who are scared
from android, there are a few softwares like eyes-free keyboard to
help you out. or if your budget is a little higher, you can go for
eyescrem sandwhich devices, which has touch and explore feature built
in talkback. and with the powerfull GPS accuracy, android shines! I
think if a totally blind person like me can use the touch screen, then
why cant you all use it??

All the best!
Bhavesh.

Re: [AI] My first two weeks with Samsung S3

2012-10-05 Thread BHAVESH
Hi folks,

Here is an in-depth look at both the operating systems, I Phone and
Android respectively. I am pasteing 3 links to collection of audio
podcasts I downloaded from various websites for you. These can be used
to decide whether you want to purchase any of the OS . The details
are below. Note: if "HTTPS" prevents you from downloading the file,
you can copy the URL, and paste it in the address bar of your browser
and remove the letter "s" from the URL .
1. these are purely Iphone based podcasts. Although some are done with
Iphhone 3gs, they might be helpfull for your basics of Voiceover.

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11136634/I%20Phone.zip
the file size is 340 MB
2. An in-depth look at the android OS, including GPS.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11136634/android.zip
the file size is 410 MB
3. and finally, for those who are confused between which OS to choos,
here are some IOS and Android comparison podcasts which may help you
choos one OS:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11136634/Android%20and%20Iphone%20compareson.zip
the file size is 81.3 MB
I hope that these prove helpfull to you.
Thanks and regards,
Bhavesh

Hi

The service from
www.accessiblenews.co.in/ is the most convenient way to read newspaper.
Although the newspaper you have mentioned, is not listed there, you could
make a specific request for it.

I wonder how many really take advantage of this service.

Bookshare and Innovation for Education Award

In July, Benetech, the parent organization of Bookshare, received a
new award from the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special
Education Programs, which we're calling "Bookshare and Innovation for
Education (BI4E)." Read more about the goals -
http://cts.vresp.com/c/?Benetech/12168e8b42/d5d7f020f0/19cc7e31e7 and
how they will directly benefit you.

Product Updates--Book Formats for Everyone!

We continue to expand the ways you can read Bookshare books by
providing new book formats. In addition to our original formats
(DAISY Text and Braille Ready Format (BRF)), we introduced two new
audio-only options-DAISY Audio and MP3. Soon, we will begin trying
out a new format, accessible EPUB 3, as a beta on a limited number of
titles. This format represents the next generation of our current
DAISY Text format.

What does this mean for you? More options -

for reading and enjoying digital books!

Improved Download Process

After you find the book you want to read, you will need to download
it. Bookshare has made the download process easier to select the
format you (or your students) want from a dropdown list. For
educators, you can download the same title for multiple students even
if you need different formats. Everyone can view or re-download books
by going to your "My History" page.

Update Your Read2Go for iOS 6

The latest version (1.0.3.0) is now available and will ensure that
your app works properly with Apple's new version of iOS 6. Make sure
to update your version of Read2Go by going to the Apple Store on your
device and tap "Updates," then update Read2Go!

Earlier this summer, Read2Go celebrated its first birthday. In a
year's time, over 16,000 apps were downloaded by members in over 33
countries. Happy birthday Read2Go!

[AI] windows can not find VB skript engine

2012-02-23 Thread BHAVESH
Hi access indians,

today i am having a technical query. i am running window-eyes7.53 on a
windows7 proffessional 32bit machine. window-eyes has something called
window-eyes apps, which are not running in my machine because windows
7 is not able to find VB skript engine on my system.
this was varified when i created and ran a BV skript file from my C
drive, and i got an error "windows host skript dialogue, cann't find
skript engine VB skript for c:\hello.vbs"

when i called technical support at GWMicro, they said that i will have
to perform a windows re-install in order to get out of this problem,
but i am sure there must be some solution to fix this error.
can anyone help me in this matter?

[AI] problems with window-eyes apps

2012-01-07 Thread BHAVESH
Hello Accessindians,

copying a message i sent to GWMicro regarding the said problem. hope
someone will have suggestions to this.

Dear sir/madam,

i am Bhavesh Patel from mumbai(India), and currently using
window-eyes7.52 (30 minits demo) on a windows7 proffessional 32bit
machine.
i am facing problems to run window-eyes apps in my computer. when i
land in to app menue by pressing Alt+a from the window-eyes control
pannel, i only get "app management" and "app central" options only. i
am not able to run any of the apps provided with window-eyes. when i
click on "start button" from app manager option from app management
sub-menu to turn on/run a particular app, window-eyes says "app
starting" and after a while it says "app stopped". thus my apps don't
run. i have told windows firewall to allow this programme. what could
be the problem?
please help me as soon as possible. my contact number is +919029059211.
Thanks in anticipation,
Bhavesh Patel.
