assalamoalaikum sir, one thing would like to tell you that he don't need to delete c drive partition, just enter on that drive, and if any previous windows xp is installed, then will ask you that press c for continue. press c, then you'll have that options. like, format the partition using the ntfs file system quick or just file system. or something fat. hello harish, first of all would like to welcome you on the accessindia mailing list. secondly my introduction is farhan, from pakistan doing d-com(diploma of comerce). then, you can just format c drive only by selecting c drive in windows xp setup. I'm partialy blind, mean can just see light on the screan, and other lights. umm! very simple! just go to the taskbar and start menu properties, press ctrl pluss tab to reach the start menu page. press tab again for the customize the start menu. press space on this button, then move around the buttens by tab, press it until you hear, show on start menu in e mail combo box. in that combo box, choose the outlook express or whatever you would like to place on e mail. other way is, go to the internet properties, under the programs tab, choose internet e mail programs combo box, choose any email program you want to be as a default email program. To improve its service, the telecom major is adding seven and a half lakh switching capacity for mobile network to existing 13.25 lakh and 300 base transmission stations for radio network to its existing 512. Company's other initiative include reduction in download charges of GPRS from 2p per kb to 1p kb for both pre-paid and post-paid customers. With effect from January 7, MTNL has started offering Combo Plans on landline services. In this plan the customers can get combination of landline, Broad Band, IPTV and VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol which helps in making ISD calls at cheaper rates) at lower rates. Four such Combo Plans have been launched. Combo Broadband offers free 200 landline calls and 400 MB download in Rs 500 per month. Combo IPTV offers Landline with Broadband and IPTV services with 150 plus TV channels at Rs 500 per month. To do it,do the following: 1. open windows explorer (you can open any folder like control panel,or my computer or by windows key pluss e). 2. go to tools menu followed by alt pluss t. 3. open folder option followed by o. press control pluss tab,and you're here view tab. 4. press tab 2 times,and you'll here three one three view. 5. press h 2 times,and you'll here hight extention for unknown files types if this is onn,press space bar to off it. 6. move to ok butten. 7. move to that file which you want to send via g mail. 8. press f 2 and remove the last 3 words from the file. let me show you a example. suppose that you want to send a file,and it's name is,rohit.exe when you do that option,and when you done that,you'll here file name with it's extention,like rohit.exe. you have to remove .exe words from your file name. note don't forgot to renamed it you when you've send that file. Blind Confidential (Blog) Tuesday, November 13, 2007 JAWS 9 in Vista and more on Free Open Source AT By Chris Hofstader My new, Vista based desktop came back from the repair shop as good as new. The first thing I did on it was to install the JAWS 9.0 public beta with its updates. I can only describe the experience as a bit underwhelming. Unlike my first series of articles about Vista, I did not do anything even approaching an objective comparison between JAWS, Window-Eyes and System Access but, instead, just lived with JAWS for a week or so. As I wrote in my first article about the JAWS 9.0 beta, I think it is very good and even excellent in some places. As I also wrote in that article, JAWS 9.0 is light on new features and even lighter on innovation. JAWS works better in parts of Vista where it worked poorly or not at all in the past, a definite improvement. Because of my repetitive stress injuries, though, I had to switch to System Access to write this blog entry because JAWS, in its out-of-the-box form, still does not support Vista speech recognition, an important aspect of the Vista OS distribution. JAWS also doesn't work terribly well in the Windows Media Center software that came with my HP. Both of these areas work pretty nicely with System Access. For the most part, though, JAWS 9.0 is a big step up from 8.xx as its performance has increased noticeably and there are fewer really nagging bugs. As I have written before, I do not think that it is fair that the most expensive screen reader on the market relies on volunteers to create the configurations and scripts for applications that fall outside the 90% rule. On the other side of the coin, though, JAWS does work out-of-the-box with more programs and, unlike their competition, the ability to modify JAWS outside of FS puts a lot of power in the hands of the more nerdly inclined. The three (or is it four) projects I currently work on will release their entire software open source under GPL. Matt Campbell wrote an excellent comment the other day when I did an item on free (as in freedom with a lower case f) software. Matt makes some very valid points but I think the following items express a number of reasons why AT should move to an open source model: · While Matt suggests that a free screen reader will only increase the sense of entitlement that many blinks already have, I counter with: if a sighted person goes to Best Buy, purchases a new PC, brings it home, attaches various cables and such, turns it on and after the OS installation and registration nonsense completes, do they feel especially entitled because they can use it without plunking down $500 for System Access or more for its competitors? Following the civil rights argument, would a restaurant be considered integrated if they let minorities in but charged an extra $10 for every $3-4 item on the menu when serving black customers? Why then should blinks have to pay all the extra cash just to use what our sighted friends get for free? · Screen readers, by their very nature, cause a lot of security problems (orca and VoiceOver may not as I haven't explored how they gather data beyond the API. At an ATIA sponsored AT/IT meeting a number of years ago, Madelyn Bryant McIntyre (then Director of MS ATG) and I brought a number of these issues to the table. · If a screen reader can function at the Windows login prompt, it can alsostore your user name and password and send it off to some nefarious hacker to use later. Not coincidentally, a screen reader can read what you type into a user name and password field on a web page which may store your credit card information. An open source solution can give organizations (government agencies and such) a way to look at the code and ensure that no one built in a back door. · In the past (this may no longer be true) some screen readers found ways to hack the Windows kernel without causing the OS to pop up a warning message. This not only created a security hole, it prevented the user of being warned about it. · Many people in developing countries believe the best screen reader available is JAWS in its 40 minute mode. Thus, no matter their task, they save their work and reboot every forty minutes. To people who only earn 500 dollars per month in technology jobs, purchasing a full featured screen reader is out of the question. · Unless the software is open source, adding languages not determined to be profitable by the vendors of proprietary screen readers, is impossible. Just take a look at the rather long lists of languages supported by orca and NVDA. There are far more reasons for doing things under GPL, open source and leveraging massive collaboration than I can think of at this moment. The machine uses about 3,600 small pins - known as actuator points - that can be raised in any pattern. The actuator points then can be withdrawn and reset in a new pattern, allowing the tactile reading to continue through a variety of images. Each image is sent electronically to the device, which uses software to determine how to create a tactile display that matches the image. AT YOUR FINGERTIPS An array of about 100 small, very closely spaced actuator points set against a user's fingertip is the key to the second tactile graphic display technology. This device gives the user more direct control, the researchers said. To view a computer graphic with this technology, a blind or visually impaired person moves one's device-tipped finger across a surface like a computer mouse to scan an image into the system's memory. The computer sends a signal to the display device and moves the actuators against the skin to translate the pattern, replicating the sensation of the finger moving over it.
