2024-05-06 Thread Prakash Kamat
Such reactions from people in society only show us we have miles to go as
regards disability awareness, rights-based disability awareness, awareness
about inclusion and consequently mindset change in a society which is still
under the grip of traditional thought process of viewing Disability as
Charity-based and more importantly as emanating from "Paap
-Punya".
Miles to go before we sleep.

Re: [AI] Why do people say these things to the blind? And what can be done for the same?

2024-05-06 Thread Prakash Kamat
Sad reality out of an age-old-perception is, our society is built on
traditional thought to see disability ONLY charity-based. Therefore Young,
educated, highly qualified people with disability with disability and people
who work in this sector should NOT get demoralised or upset by these
incidents. They only show us how still there is lack of awareness about
Rights-based disability, around us. So this is challenge for us. So take out
2-3 minutes and without getting angry, annoyed explain to these people that
persons with disability like "me",like "my student" dont need charity,
pity. They are first persons like you and me Sir. Only difference is they
have a disability like vision deficiency. With education and
qualifications they are equally, some times more competent and qualified.
Technology and education have empowered them.As per the Constitution of
India which governs all of us, Sir these PswD have equal rights to FULLY
participate in the day-today development process in the society ON PAR WITH
OTHERS...And as per law if they cant get this participation anywhere in
public spaces due to barriers, it is OUR DUTY Sir to work/raise voice as an
inclusive society to remove these barriers so that their participation is
Full and on par with others.
So Sir, this young man in front of you does not need free ice cream from
you, he wants a hand of empathy from you.
So Sir, this young student in front of you does not need free tuition from
you for you to achieve Punya, he and all other persons with disability want
your hand of empathy सहसंवेदना...Spread this message around and change
people's mindset towards disability...that will fetch Punya for you🙏

Re: [AI] Should we offer money as a tip to airlines staff or not?

2024-03-17 Thread Prakash Kamat
Another aspect is there. As rightly said above it is an individual choice.
But sometime some staff gets so accustomed to tips that they start making
demands. Some persons who cant afford have to face bad reactions, nasty
remarks,comments.
So this aspect that it is not mandatory ,customary to give tips needs to be
repeatedly stated somewhere for such staff to know it and not fall into a
habit to pressurise people to give tips.

2024-01-17 Thread Prakash Kamat
Yes many people don't like word Divyang.bcoz they call you Divyang but do
they treat you like persons having body and Soul of God? Only putting on
high pedestal is of no use.
Having said that, you have no choice on the word Divyang as The RPwD Act
,2016 has officially adopted word Divyang. Hindi Act and other Acts in some
Regional languages have adopted that word. So govt schemes, govt
departments use that word. So you have no option. If you say I dont like
that word govt will say dont apply for schemes.
And if you look from other way, instead of what they use 'handicapped",
etc. Divyang I feel is much better...
