Last time in Retina convention in New Delhi I saw two portable magnifire at Karishma stall. However I found such magnifire with other agencies too. Once I visited at Shroff eye center they also show me one such device. But there is much price difference of these magnifire, say for e.g. Karishma is providing this magnifire for 23,000 Rs, while Eyeshroff center told me it is for 25,000 Rs. Recently I asked barrier break technology that for how much they are providing such magnifire, they told me that they are having two of such video magnifire that is Compact mini, for 12,000 and Compact plus for 20,000 rupees, only the difference is of sises. They told me that there is two year replacement warrantee. I want you people to throgh some light over it. Please tell me if anybody is using any of such magnifire. [AI] Frustrated with your bank?Complain to the bank ombudsman.
You insert your card in ATM to withdraw Rs 500. The transaction fails, but your account is debited by Rs 500. You're frustrated, you're irritated, you complain to your bank about the money being debited after the failed transaction. The bank tells you that your money will soon be credited to your account, but nothing happens for weeks. Six months pass by, with all of this up-down in-out stuff, You've done all you can, but no body is listening! . Can you imagine getting a compensation of Rs 16,200 because of your bank's inability to honour the rules set by RBI? Can you imagine, that for not getting Rs 500 within a few days, you can get Rs a 100 penalty for each 162 days you have waited? Yes it can happen! And it has happened! . In this article, I'll show you the power of the Banking Ombudsman and some case studies which show you that getting your complaints addressed is more easy that you think! Banking Ombudsman RBI What is Banking Ombudsman ? The Banking Ombudsman is a senior official, appointed by the Reserve Bank of India to address grievances and complaints from customers, regarding deficiencies in banking services. It covers all kinds of banks - PSU Banks, Private banks, Rural banks and co-operative banks. Even though, it was originally setup in 1995, there were major revisions in 2006 covering transactions related to complaints of ATM cards, debit cards and credit cards, deduction of service charges by banks without prior intimation, unfair practices of banks and non-compliance by direct sales agents (DSA) of banks for services promised while opening an account etc. It was last amended in Feb, 2009 to cover deficiencies arising out of internet banking too. Today, the Banking Ombudsman covers almost all kind of complaints for banking services. To give you a brief idea about their effectiveness, Banking Ombudsmen received 79,266 complaints in the year 2009-2010 out of which around 94% were handled and just 5-6% of the complaints remained pending for more than three months as on June 30, 2010. There are a total of 15 Banking Ombudsman in our country. You complain to the one which comes under the jurisdiction of the Bank location, i.e., if your bank is in Bangalore, you can complain to the BO from Bangalore region. Incase you or the bank is not satisfied by the decision given by the Banking ombudsman, in that case within 30 days of BO decision, the complaint can be taken forward to Appellate Authority, which is a Deputy Governor of the RBI . Its just like going to supreme court if you are not satisfied by High court decision :) . What kind of complaints are taken care by banking ombudsman ? So, the first question that comes to mind naturally is - "Will it be helpful for me?" You wont believe it, but the most basic problems, a common man faces ( See an example of what I faced ) , like rude behaviour of bank officials, delays in disbursing loans, forcing customers to buy insurance policies for processing loans etc., are all addressed by Banking Ombudsman (BO), and the process of complaining is as simple as filling up a form online or sending in a filled form to a postal address. The best part is that if you are harassed because of any issue or have undergone through mental agony, you can ask for a compensation upto Rs 1 lac. There have been cases where people have got it (one example in this article below). So let me list down some of the possible scenarios where you can file a complaint with Banking ombudsman. list of 18 items . Levying of charges without any notice or Information. . Charging higher rate of interest linked to BPLR on Housing Loan . Any Loss suffered because of lack of co-ordination from Bank side . Unreasonable credit card charges . Fraudulent transfer of funds by using net banking . Fraudulent transactions against lost credit card . Cheque lost in transit by the bank . Non-updation of CIBIL records . Loss of cheque from Cheque drop box . Closure of any account with providing any information or reason . When bank demands unreasonable proofs for openening of account . Change in terms and conditions without notice or valid reason . Delay in providing any service . Mis-selling of Insurance products . Forcing customers to take insurnace policies for processing Loans . Rejection of Loans . Harrasment to customer or misbehaviour for any reason . Casual approch from Bank on perfoming its duties list end I ran a poll with title "Have you even been frustrated with your Bank and wanted to complain? " on this blog, on which 100 people participated. Surprisingly , around 65% people said that they were frustrated on some issue with their bank and wanted to complain. Only 35% said that they never had any issue with their bank which went to a level that they have to complain about it . Banking Ombudsman survey Real Life Cases Solved by Banking Ombudsman As per the Banking Ombudsman Annual Report 2009-2010 , ombudsmen have resolved thousands of

Re: [AI] Curiosity about the term
Typically in an organisation there are various departments like sales, purchase ,production ,planning ,finance ,quality and hr etc. These departments work like silos in a compartmentalised manner . In order to integrate all these departments for optimal use of resources and also get a real time information of various processes and functions ERP software like SAP and People Soft are used. The term E R P means Enterprise Resource Planning and the most popular E R P software is SAP of Germany. [AI] Findings on the benficial effects of anti oxidants for eye damages.
This is an extract from a mail sent by Mr.Saravanan Ramadoss. Anti-oxidants in the diet shown to halt vision-destroying conditions Though based on mouse studies, the research bolsters the idea that humans suffering from these and other eye conditions may be able to help preserve function by adding antioxidants to their diet, and explains why this would work. The team also devised a new cell-based gene therapy technique that could eventually offer another option for arresting vision loss from these diseases. The work, led by Scripps Research Professor Martin Friedlander, M.D., Ph.D., was reported in an advance, online edition of the Journal of Clinical Investigation on February 2, 2009. The research is also likely to apply to a range of other neurodegenerative conditions, including vision loss from Huntington's and Alzheimer's diseases and inherited retinal degenerations, such as retinitis pigmentosa. Many forms of blinding degenerative eye conditions are tied to the abnormal proliferation of new blood vessels in the eyes, or neovascularization. Treatment of these conditions has generally focused on blocking continued neovascularization, but this typically only slows disease progression because new growth eventually wins out, leading to continued damage and vision loss. For many of these conditions, vision loss has been definitively attributed to the blinding effect of fluid leakage and hemorrhage from newly grown blood vessels. But the cause of vision loss in certain diseases such as MacTel has been more elusive. To better understand these eye diseases, and to develop new and better treatments, the research team examined a mouse model of these human diseases. The particular "knockout" mouse the team focused on has been used by other researchers for studying fat metabolism. The mouse model, however, also has a genetic alteration that leads to increased blood vessel growth in the eyes-a fact that Friedlander and colleagues had pointed out in a previous publication. In this model, neovascularization occurs in the back of the eyes in an area of the retina that is normally avascular. This is also a defining characteristic of MacTel, a somewhat rare though probably underdiagnosed form of macular degeneration, and RAP. In the current study, the team found that debilitating eye damage in these mice is caused by increased oxidative chemical activity sparked by the new blood vessel growth, rather than simply by the new blood vessel growth itself. Even properly functioning eyes create an extremely stressful environment because oxidants are produced as neurons fire all day in response to light stimuli, and as a result of neuronal tissue being bombarded by light. A small increase in oxidative chemical activity from neovascularization can be enough to kill certain types of neurons, leading to vision loss from the mouse equivalent of MacTel and RAP, and possibly other conditions. Such oxidative damage had been suspected of playing a role in these conditions but had never before been proven. In the process of showing how the conditions cause damage, the team was able to identify two remarkably effective treatments. One of these options is simply giving the mice doses of antioxidants orally. "People have thought before that antioxidants could have benefits for these conditions, but these data demonstrate clear proof of concept for this treatment approach," says Michael Dorrell, Ph.D., a research associate in the Friedlander lab. The researchers showed that antioxidants counterbalance the oxidative damage to neurons, blocking further deterioration in the eyes of treated mice. "This implies that something as simple as changing your diet may in fact maintain visual functioning for long periods of time even if the underlying abnormality hasn't been fixed," says Friedlander, who in addition to his position at Scripps Research is a staff member at Scripps Clinic and Green Hospital in La Jolla, California. "That was quite surprising to us. Others have already shown that such alternations in diet can reduce the risk of developing bleeding from the more common type of neovascular macular degeneration in humans, but the concept of maintaining functioning photoreceptors in the face of continuing vascular abnormalities has not been shown previously." An Attractive Alternative The second option the group explored is more complex but has proven equally successful. Using a novel twist to standard gene therapy techniques, the researchers were able to deliver directly to the neurons in question a protein that protects neurons, effectively fortifying them against the onslaught of oxidants. The virus used in the technique-adeno-associated virus (AAV)-is a common component of gene therapies, but the Friedlander team's work included some major advances. Current studies exploring the potential of gene therapy with this particular viral vector to treat a number of eye condit
Re: [AI] FLAX Seed for RP (H J Ashok)
Flak seeds are very rich in anti oxidants and are excellent for prevention of early damages to the tissues of our body.It was recommended to me bythe the cardiologist after my recent by pass surgery of the heart. The flak seeds after drying them in sun is to be powdered and a tea spoonfull of the same be mixed either with water or milk and the concotion to be taken preferably on an empty stomach. I shall forward a mail lseperately regarding the recent findings of the beneficial effects of anti oxidants for eye disorders including RP. Best Regards, K.s.Vishwanathan. Dear friends, Please help my Visually-challenged friend. He urgently require your legal assistance & proper guidance. His case is pending in high-court in Tamilnadu and need somemore evidence to get justice. ___ Subject: Urgent help & information required! 20-01-2009 Dear friend, I kindly request you to forward this message to our visually impaired friends. they may give advice or ideas. so that , it will help me to get justice. Message my name is sudarsanan. I am visually impaired person (partially blind). I completed my diploma in mechanical engineering in 1991 and diploma in refrigeration and air conditioning in 1998. I suffered genetic problem of retinitis pigmentosa in both eye during the period of End of 1980's. I was declared as visually handicapped by vocational rehabilitation center of government of India in chennai . They issued ID card in 1993. I registered as a partially blind in special employment exchange for handicapped in 1992. I took technical teaching line as a instructor (junior training officer) to teach in theoretical subjects in mechanical related trades like A/C mechanic, fitter, turners extra in government approved private industrial training institute from 1994. in December 8, 2000 government of Tamil nadu announcing the recruitment of 237 junior training officer post in government run industrial training institutes by diploma holders on the basis of seniority in employment exchanges. So as per equal oppurtutinities of people with disability act 1995 they should give 3% for handicapped persons that is 1% for ortho 1% for hearing impaired 1% for visually impaired which means two posts must be allocated for visually handicapped persons. I approached the appointing authority of above said post director of employment and training through the letter in January 2001.. they didn't respond to me so , I sent advocate notice to them. After that they stating that allotted 6 post for physically handicapped is sponsored up to 1985, your seniority comes only 1992 because of that you are not considered for sponsoring. But they didn't answer how many visually handicapped persons appointed? So I approach madras high court for justice by filing writ petition in 2001 but it was dismissed because of the technical ground that petitioners not challenge the lack of seniority reason of the government side reply so that writ petition is not sustainable and petitioner given liberty file another writ petition. In such situation one advocate firm comes to help me with the help of that firm I filed another writ petition in 2003, It was again dismissed on petitioner does not able to clear what statutory provision the petitioner have irrespective of seniority government side bound to sponsored him? Both writ petition does not give answer about 1% visually handicapped quota. So I filed another writ appeal in 2004. Mean time, I approached the director of employment and training in 2007 asking information about how many visually handicapped person appointed in junior training officer post under the right to information act 2005 they told in their letter no visually handicapped persons appointed because of their inability further they say visually handicapped quota is filled by the normal person. Now it very clear they did not follow 1% quota for visually handicapped persons. Now writ appeal is pending in madras high court.our advocate says during the argument time they might raise inability issue. I here by asking our visually impaired friends for guidance in the above matter. Kindly note above stated matter is in court so please take this as personal. I want to know any visually handicapped person working as a junior training officer or instructor in government industrial training institute or related sectors throughout India. If anybody is there please send the information to me to below mentioned contact details. Matter is very urgent. My e-mail ID is sendmail2sudarsa...@yahoo.com Mobile 0-9444009839. Re: [AI] Hello every one, a doubt regarding Rss feeds.
Here is some information regarding rss feeds from the times of india: RSS Feeds - The Times of India RSS is a way of providing content to the user's browser or desktop in an efficient way. By using RSS feeds, the user can stay updated on the news from Indiatimes and other news sources with very little extra effort. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds are normally provided in three ways: headlines only, headlines with excerpts and full text feeds. Indiatimes provides you with the headlines with excerpts version for free. Of the multiple RSS formats that exist today (RSS 0.91, RSS 0.92, RSS 2.0), Indiatimes supports only the 0.91 specification for now. Feeds are normally viewed in two types of applications: One is the desktop aggregator and two is the Web-based aggregator. Desktop Aggregator There are a multitude of desktop aggregators, free and commercial, available these days. You can find a listing of them here. To illustratrate how to use the Indiatimes feeds, we are going to use RSSBandit , which is one of the free aggregators. The software requires the installation of Microsoft's .Net Framework . You can download it from here. Once installed, start the application and click on "Import Feeds' from the file menu. Enter the URL of the The Times of India feeds . (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sitemapopml.cms). If you want to add the feeds manually Click on "New Feed" in the "Feed Subscriptions" panel. Copy the URL of the feed from this page (example: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/ rssfeeds/-2128936835.cms) Click "Ok" and you are ready to roll! Web-based aggregator Some of the popular web-based aggregators are Bloglines, Yahoo's Syndication service and Syndic8.com. You can access their services at their respective sites. Re: [AI] How can we do aerobic exercise ?
I have a morning walker since more than a year which i do twice daily for fifteen minutes which i have been doing regularly. In my experience it is no where equivalent to ten thousand steps of walking as advertised and.My weight and blood sugar level have also not come down despite using the walker for more than a year.In my opinion rs.7,500 is not worth it. Ofcourse one advantage i found doing the walker is that blood circulation in the legs increases and one can feel the tinglingsensation in the legs which is definately good for diabatics.
