Subject: [AI] Help needed with NVDA

Dear Access India members,

I am using NVDA with Eloquence. Of late, I am facing a strange problem
with this application. It reads out each and every character as I type
into an email message. But does not read the message line by line when
used with up/down arrows. So, I find it difficult to figure out the
words I have typed into each line.

Please note that I am encountering this issue only while composing
email messages and not while typing into a document. Therefore, I am
not sure if it is an issue to do with the gmail settings.

Further, it does not even announce the message Blank when I enter the
Compose Form.
I request the users of NVDA and other members who are well familiar
with this software to provide their assistance/guidance to resolve
this problem.

Thanking you all in anticipation,

Regards,

Sultana

Thank you Harish and I totally agree with you.

To add, we should also realize that problems exist for everywhere and for
everyone, not just to people with disabilities. While there are issues, there
would be a solution either ready or a work around. We should take ownership and
bring-in solutions.

Further, we should love whatever we do and explore growing opportunities.

Subject: [AI] Work attitute

Friends

Today, I received a call from one of our well wisher. She is conducting on the
job training in IT enabled services.
She expressed her displeasure with some of the blind folks carry. In the one
one hand we seek equal treatment and when it comes to work, we expect
relaxations. If we don't give our full commitment to work, maintain discipline,
punctuality then, days ahead, we will have difficult times.

Things have become much better these days, and I can safely say, the reason for
the positive change is a result of great percieverence from many folks all over.

It doesn't take much time to change direction. If such negative thoughts
become prevalent, soon we will end up with this negative mind set. We have no
one else to blame for it. Trust, it is no joke banging your head into an
invincible wall. We have experienced it in the past and don't wish the
youngsters don't land in that situation.

Friends, whenever there is an enabling and supporting work place, there is no
reason why we cannot put our dedicated work. There is in fact much happiness in
a job well done.

It takes a lot of efforts, money and time to train anyone. At the end of it if
one fails to capitalise it then obviously it will result in unhappiness. There
is no dearth of able bodied persons in our country and I fail to digest, how we
can afford to be so complacent about it.

Friends, it is something that we should contemplate on this with full
earnestness and this would well be a wake up call.

Warmly
Harish Kotian

Hi,
I think, for taking notes, etc. It would still be good to go for a netbook as
iPad is expensive and does not have all functionalities. As far free screen

Hello friend,

Why don't you try Ipad?
It would be helpful since a free screen reader is there and it is also
small in size.
Try that option too.

I use jaws Hindi with my son at school. Though there are problems with
pronunciations of a few letters and a few letter combinations, it works fine
most of the other times.

Also, training our kids for mental math techniques, will help them get faster
at the same activity. Am trying to teach my son too.

Hope this helps.

[AI] Airtel 3G plans Karnataka - Suggestion required

2012-05-29 Thread Srinivasu Chakravarthula (Lists Account)
Hi All:

Firstly, my apologize this email is nothing do with accessibility, assistive
technologies, lives of people with vision impairment; yet, posting this
question, in case this may be helpful to anyone else, who might use a lot of
data on the go. Harish, please close the thread if you feel inappropriate in
anyway.

I am using iPhone 3GS and use data including email, social networking, gps
etc. and I also do use the phone for calls - more often national calls; my
service provider is Airtel and it's post-paid (some folks call this as
billing). I would like to know, what is the best plan in Airtel one should
choose for above requirement. I am not a fan of SMS.

Unless, you feel your reply helps everyone on the list, I would request you
to write to me off the list at li...@srinivasu.org

Thanks and sorry again,

-Srinivasu
