[AI] The 10 Biggest Mistakes People Make in Setting Goals

2013-12-23 Thread nazrulhuda khan
Hi AccessIndian's,

We are just few stepsaway from 2014 and this is the moment when many
people set their goals to live their dreams. Below is the artical from
another blog site to improve our goal settings:

If you are anything like me, you’re already thinking about the year
ahead. How will it be different than this one? What might be possible?
What do I want to accomplish?

It’s time to begin thinking about goal-setting for 2014.

I don’t know about you, but I have been going through this annual
exercise since my second semester of college, when a friend introduced
me to the concept. Almost immediately, I loved the concept and saw the
potential.

But I have not always done it well. I have made a lot of mistakes
along the way. I have also watched numerous other people do it poorly.

Here are the top ten most common mistakes I see people make when it
comes to goal-setting:

1. They don’t write them down. Unless a goal is written, it is merely
an aspiration—lifeless and devoid of power. Once you commit it to
writing, you set something in motion. You clarify what you want and
begin focusing on how to attain it.
Th2. ey create too many. An old Chinese proverb says, “Man who chases
two rabbits catches neither.” While you probably need more than a
single goal, you need to stay focused on a manageable number of them.
I recommend no more than 7–10.
3. They only set them for one area of their life. Most people are
accustomed to the idea of setting career goals. But life is far more
than your job. If you are going to be happy and fulfilled, you need
goals in each of the major areas of life—spiritual, physical, marital,
relational, etc.
4. They don’t make them specific. Most goals—even written ones—suffer
from being too vague. “I want to write a book” or “I want a better
marriage” are too general. Which book do you want to write? How do you
want to improve your marriage?
5. They don’t make them measurable. The only way to know if you have
achieved a goal is to quantify it. “Lose 25 pounds” is much better
than “lose weight.” “Earn 10% more than I did last year” is better
than “earn more money.” When in doubt, assign a number or a
percentage.
6. They don’t assign a due date. So often the important gets
sacrificed on the altar of the urgent. A deadline is one way to create
urgency and force yourself to pay attention to what’s important.
Without a deadline, there’s little pressure to get it done. It’s easy
to procrastinate.
7. They don’t keep them visible. How many times have you written down
a set of goals and never looked at them again? I’ve done it plenty of
times. That’s why you need a plan to keep them visible, whether that
means reviewing them daily, weekly, or at some other regular interval.
8. They don’t stretch out of their comfort zone. Safe goals are boring
goals. Unless we set our goals outside our comfort zone, we won’t find
them compelling enough to actually follow through and achieve them.
They shouldn’t be unrealistic, but they should be challenging.
9. They don’t make them personally compelling. When you pursue a
meaningful goal, it is exhilarating. Accomplishing it, even more so.
But the “messy middle” is where most of us get stuck. This is why we
need to write down a set of motivations for each goal identifying why
it is important and what is at stake.
Th10. ey don’t identify the next action. You don’t need an elaborate
action plan for each goal. (Often this can just be a fancy way of
procrastinating.) But you do need to identify the next action, so you
can initiate and maintain momentum.

Chances are, you are going to live through 2014, one way or another.
It can be another year just like this year and last. Or it can be
something different … something extraordinary … something amazing! The
choice is yours.

---

Happy new year in an advance.

Regards,

Nazrulhuda Khan.

Time to meet up again!

Insert+Alt+W is the command for virtual window. Through the help of it
you can use the virtual window like any other text editor where you
can read the text or dialog box line by line or alphabet and also you

[AI] Training

2013-04-02 Thread Nazrulhuda Khan
Hi Kanchan,

Your efforts are remarkable.

I liked the topics mentioned by Mr. Pranov. Even I also want to do
project management and I have other concerns also along with training.

My most important concern is we want main stream trainings, like cloud
computing, networking, database, hardware and software and software
development as we know that the IT industry is most growing industry
as well as project management, skills required for HR, soft skills
training like communication, email and telephone etiquettes, body
language and table manners. Secondly, I know many organizations and
companies are running collaborative or independent trainings for
visually impaired but very few of them matching expectations of
corporate world and the result is visually impaireds are failing in
their jobs or struggling to meet the expectations of an organization.
Another most important issue is most of these institutes are not
offering job to even eligible candidates. Our main motive should be
matching the expectations of main stream and providing job to the
candidates after organizing such trainings.

I think, you have already taken these things in to the consideration.

Regards,

Nazrul Khan.

[AI] regarding railway Concession

2013-04-02 Thread Nazrulhuda Khan
Hi AccessIndians,

Recently, many incidents have faced by disable people with regards to
their respect and rights while travelling in railways. I also faced a
problem when I was travelling between Chennai to Bangalore when I was
taking a ticket from a counter; the respective person was not ready to
give me ticket because according to him my concession pass was
unauthorized whereas I have taken a ticket many times on the same
pass. Other examples like No special guards in disable coaches which
causes Sevier problems while travelling in express trains, No fixed
position of disable coaches in express trains. Sometimes it is behind
the front engine or sometimes behind the back engine. We are still
struggling to purchase on line concession ticket through which we can
avoid all the ticket counter problems and the current issue has faced
by our friend Ashish.

I think, we should reach to the railway ministry on similar grounds
which make our railway travelling extremely difficult.

Regards,

Nazrul Khan.

[AI] RP & hopelessness

2012-08-21 Thread Nazrulhuda khan
Hey Eki,

Don’t be discouraged. I know you very closely and I also know that you
will come out of this very soon.

Why don’t you inquire about Embryonic stem cells about which people
have shared on accessindia previously. I am pasting below the old
article. I hope it will help you.

Embryonic stem cells improve vision for two womenBy Elizabeth Cohen,

Researcher emphasizes that the results are preliminary
(CNN) -- Two women with untreatable eye diseases said they had
dramatic improvements in their vision after injections of human
embryonic stem cells, making it the first documented time these
controversial cells have helped someone.

"This is a big step forward for regenerative medicine, said Dr. Steven
Schwartz at UCLA's Jules Stein Eye Institute. "It's nowhere near a
treatment for vision loss, but it's a signal that embryonic stem-cell
based strategies may work."

Schwartz added several caveats - that the study was preliminary, only
in two patients, and that it's difficult to measure vision in
low-vision patients. But even so he was "thrilled and excited" about
the study.

Schwartz and his colleagues published their study in The Lancet. For
each patient, stem cells derived from an embryo were injected into
their retinal tissue. They had to take anti-rejection drugs for a
short period so their eyes wouldn't reject the foreign tissue.

Dr. Steven Schwartz and a 51-year-old patient who says her vision has
improved after stem cell treatment. Before her stem cell surgery in
July, Sue Freeman, 78, couldn't take a walk, go shopping or cook by
herself because of macular degeneration, a disease that affects
millions of Americans and for which there is no cure.

"I couldn't pour a glass of water without spilling it on the counter," she said.

Now, after surgery in one eye, she cooks, shops and walks on her own.
"I can even read my own writing now," she added. "And I've noticed
other things. My husband and I were walking around one of our rental
properties and I noticed scuff marks on the wall. I told him we need
to fix this, and he said, 'You're seeing things better, but that's
making my honey-do list even longer.'"

Schwartz, chief of the retina division at Jules Stein, emphasized that
the results are preliminary and it is possible the patients' vision
could get worse again. Researchers will now try the procedure in 22
more patients in research centers in the United States.

The second patient in the study, a 51-year-old woman who preferred not
to use her name, said she first noticed a change in her vision a few
weeks after surgery when she woke up one morning and looked at an
armoire across her bedroom.

"It has a lot of detailed carvings and I thought wow, I was missing
those before," she said. "I thought, is this for real?"

Later, she noticed she could see the knobs on her stove, which she
couldn't see before at a certain distance.

Before having the surgery, the patient couldn't read any of the
letters on an eye chart with extra large letters for people with
vision problems, but after the surgery, she could read five letters on
the chart, according to the study. Before the surgery, she couldn't
see how many fingers an examiner was holding up in front of her face,
but afterward she could.

In a commentary in The Lancet, Dr. Anthony Atala, director of the
Institute for Regenerative Medicine at Wake Forest School of Medicine,
warned that the report was preliminary, in only two patients, and with
a short-term follow-up.

"But the results are impressive, especially considering the
progressive nature of both diseases," he added.

The stem cells were derived from an embryo created in a fertility
clinic by a couple that chose not to use it to create a pregnancy,
said Gary Rabin, chief executive officer of Advanced Cell Technology,
who said the couple donated the embryo to the company.

According to Dr. Robert Lanza, chief scientific officer at Advanced
Cell Technology and a co-author of the study, the embryo was destroyed
after the stem cells were derived, but in the future, doctors will be
able to derive stem cells from an embryo without destroying it.

This is the first time a scientific study has been published about the
results of an embryonic stem cell trial, but not the first time these
cells have been used. Geron became the first company to get FDA
approval for human trials using cells grown from human embryonic stem
cells in 2009, but abandoned that effort for financial reasons in
2011.

Many who consider an embryo to be human life have objected to
embryonic stem cell research. In his commentary, Atala said induced
pluripotent stem cells, which can be made without destroying an
embryo, may also be useful. Thes

[AI] Hired despite disability, and fired for same

2012-01-15 Thread Nazrulhuda khan
Hi Friends,
It is the very worst experience to listen and I wonder how Campesh has
faced. I think, people should take legal action against it. Despite of
knowing every facts they have hired him and it is very humiliating
when you are questioned on your capabilities without giving any work.
According to me, the Supreme Court should come up with some kind of
law against this kind of insults and they should make the compulsions
for the corporate for hiring the persons with disabilities.

Hi Srinivasu Chakravarthula,
If the company is not so bad then can you please explain about your
Tuesday evening experience. Because whatever we have read in the
article it was very insulting for any talented individual whether he
is PWD or not.

Nazrulhuda Khan.
