[AI] Regarding jaws

2010-07-13 Thread ramesh
Hello dear folks,
Once again I knock at your treasury of knowledge.
I had installed kaspersky 2009 last year.
Now i have installed kaspersky 2010.this is purchased from the retailers.
Jaws read all commands and submenus in kaspersky 2009 but it doesn't announce
anything in 2010 new version.
I wonder that I might have changed in jaws configuration settings.
I want to bring the jaws to original settings or factory settings.
please help me
thank you

For Your Information

News Item:

Rs 10 lakh from MPLADS for assistance to physically challenged

PTI | 03:05 PM,May 06,2011
New Delhi, May 6 (PTI) Parliamentarians will soon be allowed to spend
up to Rs 10 lakh annually from the Member of Parliament Local Area
Development Scheme (MPLADS) for providing assistance to the physically
challenged.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Statistics and
Programme Implementation (MOSPI), the new provision will come into
effect from June 1. "Government has received representations,
requesting that, Members of Parliament be allowed to spend some MPLADS
funds in assisting physically challenged people", it said. "It is
accordingly directed that henceforth MPs will be allowed to spend a
maximum of Rs 10 lakh per year, from their MPLADS funds, for giving
assistance to the physically challenged," the statement said.

The Government had recently decided to increase the annual entitlement
under MPLADS from Rs 2 crore to Rs 5 crore. "This necessitates a
re-look at the entire gamut of operational guidelines and modalities
governing the implementation of the MPLAD Scheme, in order to make
them simpler, more user friendly and to ensure that MPs can use the
annual fund, in a useful manner, to fulfil the urgent needs at the
grass root level in time every year," the statement said.

It said representations have been made arguing that physically challenged
persons face severe hardships and the government's policy is to take
steps to ameliorate their condition. "The issue has been considered at
length in this Ministry. It is felt that it would be appropriate to
allow MPs, as public representatives, to spend some of their MPLADS
funds in assisting the physically handicapped in this country towards
a better life..," the MOSPI said.

Till now, as part of the MPLADS Guidelines, providing assistance to
individuals under the scheme is
prohibited. "After consideration, it has been decided that this
condition be relaxed in favour of physically challenged persons only
keeping in view the larger public good," the statement said. For
proper utilisation of funds, it has been decided that such assistance
be given only for the purchase of tri-cycles and artificial limbs, for
differently abled persons. Besides, directions have been issued that
all applications for such assistance will be examined and approved by
the Chief Medical Officers of districts to ensure proper eligibility.
"The district authorities, under the District Collector/ Deputy
Commissioner, will also be fully involved in the selection of such
eligible persons," it added.

*MPLAD Funds, for giving Assistance to The Physically Challenged Persons*

The Government of India has recently decided, to increase the annual

posts come under the said list. Initially there were doubts cast whether
disqualification is due to diabetes alone or otherwise. But after due
verification through various channels, its indeed diabetes only.

Whether the post of Group D in question was identified/reserved for blind?
If no, I am afraid the disqualification may have other reasons than alleged
diabetes.

  Hi,

I thought you could have gained some attention by putting more
appropriate subject line which explicitly states the story. hence I
  have changed the subject line.

First, this disqualification is not on the ground of disability, but
on the ground of a disease (diabetes). So, I doubt whether PWD Act
  applies to this case.
We should find out whether government can disqualify on the ground of
  such diseases .

Second, I heard of some case where a person with HIV positive has been
disqualified and the court gave the ruling against such denial. So,
if HIV positive can't be denied a job, sure a person with diabetes
shouldn't be. however I'm not sure of any concrete legal remedy.

You may hear more from legal experts.

Interesting.
I do agree it has often to do with our visual impairment that people put us on
a distinct, maybe a higher pedestal.
The issue made me nostalgic when I entreated, urged, and quarreled with my
writer in tenth to call me TUM, as I called her, instead of AAP.
We were same age and she called all her friends as Tum or TOO, but not me...
She wanted to, attempted, rehearsed at home, but come what may, could not bring
herself to call me Tum.
Finally, I gave her ultimatum while dictating board exam of tenth class, on my
birthday, by stopping me in between and refusing to proceed until she corrected
herself.
I was ready to put my board exam in jeopardy!!
The impasse continued for about half an hour before she obliquely relented.

So, I too think the best way is to try to be one of them and reminding them
that visual impairment does not make us utterly distinct and worthy of respect
by default...

Hi Mohith,

I am tempted to ask you whether you are older to your class mates?
Some people take up education a little late, and hence age gap between
classmates. Ignore this question if it isn't the case with you.

Second, if you like to be addressed as "thu" instead of "aap", the
best thing is to tell them openly that you don't like to be addressed
as "aap". I'll give you my own example.
I worked as a lecturer for about 6 years before joining the bank.
When I introduced myself as a lecturer, doing PhD, completed a few
master degrees, etc., everyone in the bank started addressing me as
"sir". I felt they were not close with me. So, I told each one of
them openly that I like to be addressed by my first name. Then even
my peers, who are at least 5 years younger than me, started addressing
me by my name. Even now whenever there is a new employee in the
branch and starts putting extensions like "je" after my name, I tell
them my wish. If one starts doing this, others also start doing the
same.

Where ever you go, whatever you do, remember to communicate openly.
Never expect others to know you without you telling them what you are.
So, when a girl addresses you as "aap", tell her that she can call
you "thu" if she really feels you are her friend. Tell this by
addressing her as "thu". See the change!

Hello,

A vh student is being refused extra time during examination by the Burdwan
university. According to them, vh students are eligible for scribe only. Other
disabled persons having writing problem are eligible for extra time.

I checked the StatusNote.pdf file downloaded from the UGC site. It has
provisions for the NET exams. It does not ask all institutions to provide
scribe, extra time etc to vh students. Is there any UGC help line for such
problems?

Best regards,
