Once you have added the keyboard, you need to change to different keyboard layouts by using alt-shift Default keyboard layout is English. Use alt-shift to change language. it is because the indic script is installed by default in windows 7. in win xp, it is an optional component. if you have installed indic while installing windows, the system will not ask for CD.
