Re: [AI] Current account guidelines
Nirmal - Sorry but I think it's time we may end up raising voice than just educating. If ICICI says they don't have guidelines to let visually impaired person open current account, do they have anywhere written it should not be opened? Or did RBI or IBA told them to have accounts opened for specific category of people?? I completely agree that ICICI is rather illiterate and I would even say non-secured bank in this country. A while ago, they were running after me to open an account even without any proof of documents. :-( Regards, Srinivasu Regards, Srinivasu Chakravarthula - Twitter: http://twitter.com/CSrinivasu/ Website: http://www.srinivasu.org Let's create an inclusive web! Re: [AI] Current account guidelines
hi nirmal, why do you need the current account only? is there any specific purpose? you can open the savings accounts with icici without any trubble. but for current account, you will have to sign. if you are able to do the signatures, you can open the current account as wel. i recently opened my current account by using signatures with icici. and there were no trubbles at all. Hi Nirmal In RBI guidelines they have used the text " to provide all banking services" this includes current account and you have to drill this point. Re: [AI] Current account guidelines
RBI circulars have not differentiated between the savings and current accounts for visually impaired. However, as a matter of practice, some banks' deposit policies explicitly mention that any account may be opened (except current account). SBI was one of them till the end of 2014. And as I check today, ICICI has the similar exception! And even ICICI treats blind at par with illiterate. Chandra Kochhar is your solution. -- Amar Jain.
