Re: [AI] Me too..disability sector
While I do understand coming out by women suffering silently for all these years and enormous social media support to them, let us not take their assertions as the proof of guilt of the males. It is a very complex issue, and N number of variables come into play. But, I think a no has to be clearly spelt out even at the time of any such incident, and cannot be a post-facto addendum. With blindness, the situation becomes even more complicated. Difference between a normal touch, and touch desired by blind individuals as a comforting/communication basis, and the touch with ulterior motive has to be well appreciated. A no is a no, of course, but it has to be clearly stated or demonstrated immediately and should not emerge after. My comments are not confined to the specific event in question here. -Original Message- From: AccessIndia [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of Akash Kakkar Sent: 09 November 2018 14:02 To: AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issues concerning the disabled. So unfortunate to know this. I'm standing with you Shampa ma'am. It certainly takes a lot of nerves to do what you did. More women will come up with their ordeals if we the men promise to stand with them. I'm not familiar with the proceedings of the sector so I can't guess who the unnamed person is. But time to smash the authorities, no matter however powerful. www.husainjournal.blogspot.com On 11/8/18, Anirban Mukherjee wrote: > Hats off to Shampa ma'am for coming out with this ordeal. Re: [AI] Me too..disability sector
Hats off to Shampa ma'am for coming out with this ordeal. It is distressing for someone who has the opportunity of working on some of these issues closely with her. Really, I'm speechless! As for naming the perpitrater, she has ennumerated her reasons. Therefore, I would request everyone to draw their own inferences rather than searching for the name. In fact, senior activists can easily identify who the person is. Re: [AI] Me too..disability sector
Salute to Shampa Ma'am for speaking up against the harassment which she had to face. It is rightly said that "power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." However, I feel that she should have named the culprit, as what he did with her, he might do with other women as well. A lot many disabled women won't even be able to narrate their stories on social media. The entire idea of metoo is to publically name the culprit.
