2014-07-08 Thread vivek doddamani
in my case I didn't face such problems from my family members but by
outsiders I too faced lot of problems after I became blind at the age
of 16 years, first I faced was Karnataka road transport used to give
free bus pass for blind persons whenever I used to travel with this
pass conductor of that bus used to make me to sit at the last seat he
also used to tell me that I am travelling without ticket so I have to
sit at the last seat, it was horrible on long distance journey
travelling in last seat, this happened to me many times in Karnataka,
since then whenever I go to Karnataka to my Home town i mostly avoid
travelling by KSRTC busses I prefer train this incident happened
between 1994 to 1999, after that I settled in Delhi & here in busses
they very well cooperate with blinds

Hi Friends,

Yes, we don’t share the eval that happens to us within our families,
especially disabled people, because we are frightened that we will be
expelled from whatever little or whatever else we do get, from being a part
of the family! We are all the time made to feel by actions, words and
gestures that everyone around is doing a favor to us by letting us be a part
of the family! Anything that is done for other members of that family, is
not a favor, but anything done for us is one! What must swe do is beyond my
imagination! All I personally can offer, is my warmest of love and

Religion and fear are historically entwined. The catalysts for most of
the
atrocities committed by man. Fear of evil fuels religion, religion fuels
hatred, hatred fuels evil, and evil fuels fear among the masses. It is a

You deserve kudos for sharing your humiliating experiences openly; thank you

I think we blind people also need greats like Omprakash Valmiki
(Jhutan) and Shivraj Singh Bechain (Mera Bachpan Mere Kandhon par);
who by writing their autobiographies have brought the issue of of
humiliation and discrimination faced by dalits in Indian society. I'm
sure many blind people have also gone through similar painful
experiences but documentation is scanty. Inspirational talks certainly
help, but painful personal experiences should also be equally shared
and written about. Afterall, movements and struggles find their
inspiration from such sufferings. And sadly writing, there is hardly
any autobiography exists which highlights the sufferings faced by
author. Those blind individuals who have managed to publish their
autobiographies have persuaded publishers on account of their efforts
to overcome their blindness and can simply be clubbed in the category
of inspirational books..

Re: [AI] Negligence in families of disabled

2014-07-07 Thread Preeti Monga
You are absolutely right! We need to have unlimited patients and have to
have a very cool mind! Well said! No matter family or not, most non
disabled people feel and show in their own ways, that they are overly
superior to us disabled people! And especially so in front of blind
people!
But, remember we are special people and just carry on, as we all do, with
our jobs and duties and life... ultimately you will be the successful and
happier ones! Do not lose heart at the atrocities shown to you by non
disabled people. There is always an answer in their lives which, sooner or
later, they will get!
Be brave, we are all in this together! At least we have each other to share
our pain with!
Love you all.
Warmly'
Preeti

oh its very unfortunate. most of the society derives pleasure and
enjoyment by showing their supremacy like this. if we get frustrated
and loose hope, then it will continue for ever.
beeing disabled, we need extra ordinary patients, cool mind and
finding the positive out of everything to run a successful life.

[AI] Negligence in families of disabled

2014-07-07 Thread Naushad Charivilayil
Hi friends, As a blind person, during my entire life I faced all kinds
of discrimination and negligence from my family and relatives. During my
childhood, I could not walk around my native place because most of the
time i got injuries by public throwing stones to me. Will you please
share your similar experiences?

Religion, A Curse Upon Mankind
Religion and fear are historically entwined. The catalysts for most of the
atrocities committed by man. Fear of evil fuels religion, religion fuels
hatred, hatred fuels evil, and evil fuels fear among the masses. It is a
diabolical cycle, and we have played into the
Devil's hand. There are two ways to choose, faceless and nameless way of death
(way of religion), or eternal way of wisdom and light (the final way to
destiny).
