2021-07-04 Thread Mahesh S. Panicker
Thank you very much Tanmay.
This tip actually makes things a lot easier. So in the workaround, you
don't have to double finger tap on the item, just focus on the item,
activate actions from Talkback menu...
Swiggy should still make their app fully accessible, but now we can
more or less use the app reasonably well.

2021-07-03 Thread Tanmay Srivastava
Hi,

Add button should be recognized with talkback.

But currently what you can do is, open the talkback menu.

There will be an option called "actions" click on that.

And you will get all the options.

hi sir,
you have pointed rightly, swingy has started rolling out the
accessibility fixes.
what they have done wrong in the android ap that they have implemented
the same way that voiceover uses to identify and select controls.
in iPhone, you can just flick down and you get ad to cart button etc,
where as in android, the talkback does not have such feature so its
fail to recognize the add to cart button etc.
so, what I request you to let’s tell them that this is the thing that
they need to fix,

if some of us will do this proactively, the things will change.
let’s do this.
thanks

[AI] Regarding Swiggy for Android Accessibility

2021-07-03 Thread Mahesh S. Panicker
Dear all,
Some time back, we had a discussion about the accessibility issues
with the Swiggy app.
I had posted a Playstore review and also emailed the Swiggy support
regarding the issues and they had responded positively.
Swiggy has now started rolling out an update to the app, and the the
what's new section is all about accessibility. That in itself is a
very refreshing change, apps viewing accessibility issues as a bug,
and highlighting those fixes when they come.
Said that though, I am still not able to access the menu on Swiggy
with TalkBack. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but the
issue is not fixed. Now before writing to Swiggy, I want to confirm
whether it is an issue only with me now, or isit that the issue is yet
to be fixed.
Also, in this context, I want to also share a workaround on the Swiggy app.
Now, once you open a particular restaurant, when you scroll the page,
it would say something like 'Recommended Item . Double tap on it. The
next category will follow, followed by the list of items in the chosen
category. Now is the tricky bit, do a double finger tap on the right
side of the item you want to order. The item details will open up and
you can find the add button in there.
Very complicated, but doable til Swiggy sort themselves out. The good
thing is that they have at least the right intent. If we encourage
them while pointing out the issue in an engaging manner, I feel this
is a possible win for us.
Regards,
