2024-03-02 Thread Yamuna Jivana Dasa
Hi all,
Here is my book in Microsoft Word format. Each chapter is in a separate file,
and all files are zipped together. You have to unzip it before you can access
the individual chapters. Get sighted help if you are not comfortable doing this
yourself. In the lessons you will learn how to do all this.

Download from my Dropbox here in Microsoft Word format.
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/06c6dev5ts2b3dlm7p4zh/CLC-Word-format.zip?rlkey=atp06htdrlbpgakllgaoehfv0=0

Kind regards,Yamuna Jivana Dasa

windows screen reader primer is the best tutorial for learning jaws,
narrator and NVDA comparitively. its available in bookshare liberary.
people can export that to mp3 audio files using eloquants voice
through balabolka software from pc or through @voicealoudreader

This was done when I worked at Blind SA in South Africa. I published

not monopolize my book. So write me privately and we’ll try to
arrange. If anyone knows how I can quickly convert the book from text

2024-03-01 Thread Aman Preet Singh
Hi! Many thanks for sharing this in MP3 version. But actually I am comfortable with the text version of this book. Could you please provide me the text version of this book, so I can read it more conveniently. Thanks.Sent from my iPhoneOn Mar 1, 2024, at 8:03 PM, Yamuna Jivana Dasa wrote:Dear Access India members, I have received many requests yesterday for the computer literacy course privately from list members who wrote to me by E-mail. Instead of replying to everyone individually, I am sending here publically a link to download an MP3 version of my book. I am grateful to Bhawani Shankar Verma for suggesting the “Text Allowed” software which I used for converting the documents to audio. Please note that while this recording was created using IVona Text to speech, Sally, an American English voice, the quality is not perfectly human like, but I believe it is good enough for understanding the content. Click here to download the Zip file from my Dropbox. After downloading the Zip file, you may need help to extract all the MP3 files from it, to copy them to some sort of audio player such as a phone, computer or MP3 player, so that someone who never used a computer before can listen to the course as an audio file and follow along. It will help if you show the student how to play and pause, seek back and forwards through the audio file, change to the previous and next audio file, Etc to make their learning experience interactive. Also, ensure the student has NVDA or Jaws installed and working and have the text-to-speech synthesizer at a comfortable listening speed for the student before they get started with this learning program. The course teaches both using Jaws and NVDA, and the student can choose the lessons to listen to depending on the screen-reader where a selection is available. The title of each chapter will tell if the course uses Jaws or NVDA if they are taught separately. If the student will progress to the Microsoft applications like Word and Excel, or to the Browsing the Internet section, then ensure those applications are also installed on the computer. Browsing is trained using Google Chrome, but can also work with Edge and some others. All the best to those wishing to learn via this course. Kind regards,Yamuna Jivana dasa From: accessindia@accessindia.org.in [mailto:accessindia@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of BHAWANI SHANKAR VERMASent: Friday, March 1, 2024 7:23 AMTo: accessindia@accessindia.org.inSubject: Re: [AI] Some audio material for learning basic computer. text allowed or balabolka application may haelpful to convert text to audio mp3 format. Subject: RE: [AI] Some audio material for learning basic computer.

Dear Access India members,

I have received many requests yesterday for the computer literacy course
privately from list members who wrote to me by E-mail. Instead of replying to
everyone individually, I am sending here publically a link to download an MP3
version of my book.

I am grateful to Bhawani Shankar Verma for suggesting the “Text Allowed”
software which I used for converting the documents to audio.

Please note that while this recording was created using IVona Text to speech,
Sally, an American English voice, the quality is not perfectly human like, but
I believe it is good enough for understanding the content.

Click here to download the Zip file from my Dropbox.
<https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/yzmw79tb6nbiuen0a5ekf/Computer-Literacy-Course-for-the-Blind.zip?rlkey=2pm6grfai3xqlqxv10fdl84v1=0>

After downloading the Zip file, you may need help to extract all the MP3 files
from it, to copy them to some sort of audio player such as a phone, computer or
MP3 player, so that someone who never used a computer before can listen to the
course as an audio file and follow along. It will help if you show the student
how to play and pause, seek back and forwards through the audio file, change to
the previous and next audio file, Etc to make their learning experience
interactive.

Also, ensure the student has NVDA or Jaws installed and working and have the
text-to-speech synthesizer at a comfortable listening speed for the student
before they get started with this learning program. The course teaches both
using Jaws and NVDA, and the student can choose the lessons to listen to
depending on the screen-reader where a selection is available. The title of
each chapter will tell if the course uses Jaws or NVDA if they are taught
separately.

If the student will progress to the Microsoft applications like Word and Excel,
or to the Browsing the Internet section, then ensure those applications are
also installed on the computer. Browsing is trained using Google Chrome, but
can also work with Edge and some others.

All the best to those wishing to learn via this course.

Kind regards,

Yamuna Jivana dasa

What format do you need? I currently have it in Microsoft Word format, and in
Duxbury Braille format so that you can print it using a braille printer. This
was done when I worked at Blind SA in South Africa. I published the book under
the general public license so that the company could not monopolize my book. So
write me privately and we’ll try to arrange. If anyone knows how I can quickly
convert the book from text to audio for people who have never used a computer
before, that will be very nice because then they can just listen to the audio
and follow along on the computer.
