Re: [AI] Tulasi R an ex-NAB Karnataka student got killed

2013-10-05 Thread Vamshi. G
One more lesson emerging out of this issue is for persons who can hide
their disability. When I say this, a total blind person can not hide
the disability. It can be done only by those whose vision impairment
allows them to hide/not disclose it. Presently I'm looking for
marriage proposals. And I make it a point not only to disclose my
present vision condition that I have only 10% vision, but also let
them know that it will deteriorate to the extent of total blindness.
And the fact of today is that there is no treatment available for this
RP. I received one or two proposals wherein a girl told me that she
would help me, and she believes that the treatment comes. I clearly
told her that I want to marry someone who can live with my blindness,
and not someone who believes that my blindness can be got rid off.
Besides, I don't want the girl to feel that she is helping me by
marrying me. I straight away rejected the proposal.

In the present case, I can only wish that the husband had committed
suicide before killing her so that she could have lived happily after
his death.

Re: [AI] Tulasi R an ex-NAB Karnataka student got killed

2013-10-05 Thread Himanshu Sahu
Friends, it’s unbelievable that the manipulation was made only by the broker.
Generally, arrange marriages in India are solemnized after proper
interaction between both parties. The blunder was committed on the
part of girl and her family as well. They were supposed to reveal the
disability. Brokers are concerned only with the remuneration, not for
the future compatibility of couples…
As Vamshi, I’m also in the hunt of a “suitable” spouse, but with two
basic conditions that my 100% blindness is revealed beforehand and I
would meet the girl personally before taking any decision. And the
purpose of personal meeting is to clarify her about my blindness and
ascertain if she is giving her consent in any kind of family pressure?

On 10/5/13, Vamshi. G gvamsh...@gmail.com wrote:

In the present case, I can only wish that the husband had committed
suicide before killing her so that she could have lived happily after
 his death.

I am not justifying murder, or barbaric husband.
But, hiding disability is not a joke!
One should not resort to such techniques for getting married!!!
Divorce would have been appropriate, instead of death!!

Tulasi must have got a chance to meet her prospective husband. Why did she
not disclose about her disability then and choose to do so after her

What was her intent behind concealing her disability ?

I am not justifying murder, or barbaric husband.
But, hiding disability is not a joke!
One should not resort to such techniques for getting married!!!
Divorce would have been appropriate, instead of death!!

Re: [AI] Tulasi R an ex-NAB Karnataka student got killed

2013-10-02 Thread Kanchan Pamnani

I am so glad the discussion is veering towards the real story.
Yes she was killed by her husband and that is sad.
Had he been alive the law would have taken its own course.
But we have to look at the background of this story-
Did her parents and peers mentally and or physically veer her towards
marriage.

So did she get pressurised into marrying.
If she did then was it OK for her to marry some person who otherwise would
have been an unfit husband.
This is the situation in Society where girls are forced into matrimony. Not
much attention is given to what kind of husband she is getting.
The parents of the girl and the broker manuplate the girl . Sometimes the
girl herself accepts and sometimes she reconciles. This happens to a lot of
girls but since we are on accessindia I will say it happens to many visually
challenged girls.
Some marriages end like this one, some go on where the girl is constantly
tortured and some end when the girl runs away.

I met a bright young girl from this group whose parents were trying to get
her married to a distand relative by paying a hefty dowry. She was able to
get out of the mess before the marriage and she was able to get her parents
to accept the situation. Today she is happily working and lives in a hostel.
For obvious reasons her name is not disclosed. I dont know about her future
but I wish her the best and hope she finds someone who cares for her.

The other aspect is that visually challenged people need to feel and touch.
This makes marriage necessary in Indian society. This is natural for both
sexes so lets not deny this too.
