successfully running a Digital Talking Book and E-text library for the
visually impaired since last 2 decades. In this process we have been
providing access to the books in accessible format for varied
academic/employment needs of our members.

In direction of empowering and providing access to more reading resources to
visually impaired aspirants appearing for various employment oriented
competitive exams, we would like to invite suggestions for books/periodicals
that can be converted to an accessible reading format.

 

Objective:

 

This initiative intents to provide access to the latest reading resources to
job aspirants and students aspiring to appear for competitive exams for
higher education.

You may register your suggestions about the books by filling up a short form
by visiting; http://www.nabdelhi.in/nab%20lab/form.html

And register Name of the book, author of the book, Publisher, year of
publishing etc. in a single attempt, a user can register maximum of 3 books.
In case you wish to provide information about more than 3 books, please
re-fill the form.

What a list? I am sure the second paper list is widely available
especially in project Gutenberg, but the first one, even Rabindranath
Tagore and R K Narayan don't seem to be in public domain. Amitav Gosh,
surely no chance of getting in public domain, so are others like Shashi
Deshpande. Perhaps those keeping it for private consumption may provide
it (I will be happy to have them too for private consumption, so if
possible do send me a copy of some of them too: l. [EMAIL PROTECTED]).

Hi,

I think most of these books can be found, but you would have to do a bit of 
search and find.

1. Most of the famous authors, especially the Indian ones like RK Narayan, 
Nehru, etc would be available from NAB Delhi. There catalogue in excel can be 
downloaded from:
http://nabdelhi.org/talking_book.htm.
You would have to enter eather the author or the title in the find dialogue box 
and search through the excel worksheet.
2. Those books that are written before 1930 or so will be available in the 
public domain. Try searching them on 
www.gutenberg.org.
3. I think that the poetry collections are now available on various websites. I 
did find some famous poems by doing a google search, its possible that you 
might find too.
4. As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, the World Ebook Fair is now open 
at www.worldebookfair.com. You may find some Indian authors there too.
