Dear list members,

I am sharing a barrier created by IRCTC. Now no visually challenged user can
book E Ticket. If you are going to book E Ticket of Indian Rail through
IRCTC site, you may not be able to do the same. Because at the time of
filling passengers detail, you will also have to type the character shown on
the screen, which is not possible for such challenging users in absence of
sight.

Anyone please advise to tackle with this problem. Otherwise, it is my humble
advise to everybody to write a suitable request to IRCTC authorities to make
the site accessable for such challenging users as per UN Convention please.

Thanks in anticipation.

Absolutely not! 139 doesn't provide any such facility over the IVRS, what it
actually does provide that you can book your ticket through cash card and
that too not on IVRS rather you'll have to provide the details of your cards
to the customer representative. Please remember the cash cards are different
from those of credit cards.
In any case, IRCTC soon is going to be forbidden from ticket bookings.

It is like telephone banking and kind of safe but can't really say, credit
information security over tele shopping is the sole responsibility of the
merchant and the user don't have much to do.
Generally, the software used for such transaction promise that the CcE
(customer care executive) will be unable to view the card details but what
if some CCE hack the software. Additionally, there are small instruments to
decode the keys pressed by the user and can be attached with the CCE line so
in this case if the security department don't check well for the gadgets
with CCE, it will do the magic!
On a personal note, I don't like the tele shopping option as internet
shopping is much more easy, reliable and safe provided you are aware of the
latest frauds techniques.

Additionally, there are small instruments
to
decode the keys pressed by the user and can be attached with the CCE line
so

in this case if the security department don't check well for the gadgets
with CCE, it will do the magic!
On a personal note, I don't like the tele shopping option as internet
shopping is much more easy, reliable and safe provided you are aware of
the

latest frauds techniques.

Dear list members,

I am sharing a barrier created by IRCTC. Now no visually challenged
user can book E Ticket. If you are going to book E Ticket of Indian
Rail through IRCTC site, you may not be able to do the same. Because
at the time of filling passengers detail, you will also have to type
the character shown on the screen, which is not possible for such
challenging users in absence of sight.

Anyone please advise to tackle with this problem. Otherwise, it is my
humble advise to everybody to write a suitable request to IRCTC
authorities to make the site accessable for such challenging users as per

UN Convention please.

Thanks in anticipation.

Alok Gupta

2010-08-13 Thread Bharat Bhardwaj
well, whether or not i would want to use webvisum, should be left to me,
the end user. government sites must not be made inaccessible by the
introduction of such inhibiting technology!

would this mean, i would have to wait to come home to use webvisum on my
computer because my office would not allow any external software that is not
madated by the company to be ported on to their computers? it's outright
rediculous. i really don't think Railways were facing any challenges in the
earlier formats!
