Re: [AI] urgent help needed on helping one of our visually impaired friend come out of his home as his family is torturing him a lot.

2014-05-17 Thread Farhana Banu
dear all, he's got opportunities to go to hyderabad as he got an
interview call from an NGO and the interview is supposed to be on
monday if he goes there. his dad told him not to go for any interviews
or any competative exam as he has applied for SBI PO. He can escape
but he has his two younger brothers who are kids and also blind and
his step out of home could cause harm to his brothers as his father
has warned him before. Lawyers can be approached but lawyers need a
lot of money. any suggestions? can we deal with this situation in
other way? please help with your suggestions.
thanks so much!

Hi all,

My two scents worth on this subject. Warning, I could be talking through my
hat.
1. Get hold of a lawyer . It's always handy to have one around to ensure a
strong legal position.
2. Contact law enforcement.
3. It is counterproductive to make snap judgments before knowing all the
facts. It is easy to say "be strong and this kind of thing is dependent on a
person's strengths etc" but this advice, though well-meant is mail box
clutter if it is given without knowing the facts.

2014-05-14 Thread Preeti Monga
Relationship with your own families can never actually break. It is only
that family members try to control you if you see closely. Then once you
have taken the steps that you want to, or the steps that you think are
correct for yourself, the controlling family also falls into place! So that
should not hold you back. And unless you take some decisions and move
forward, how will you know if they are right or wrong? If it is correct and
it works, great... otherwise, you can then take the next steps and get out
of the wrong decision and begin again!
How does one know without eating a particular fruit or anything new, weather
it is going to be of what taste? You have to try for yourself. This way is
much better than just sitting and crying about everything that you are not
allowed to do! But, if you examine carefully, to sit around and cry is the
easiest one to do! In taking action and doing what you need to, or want to
do, it takes hard work and fear of the unknown keeps you in place and just
cry. So if anyone is wanting to change things for the better, it is not good
to sit around and blame others and ask for advice, you need to get up and do
something about it. Whatever is our situation, is all our own doing! We
creat our own reality and this is something not many wish to accept! And
therefore, we are usually living as victoms and not as free humans! We are
only spending our lives crying, complaining, blaming and seeking people to
sympathize with our situation and get out of taking the hardwork road to
a great life!
Maybe these thoughts help?

I see it as a ppurely a personal issue. How much that person himself
is assertive of his rights, what position he is in, economically and
otherwise in terms of awareness and knowledge, are crutial factors to
tackle this issue.

While marrying a girl of your choice may be equally important, but
both the families cannot be ignored altogether of course unless you
are ok with the fact that your relations with both the families are
completely spoiled due to your own decision. And I am not sure whether
today people really understand the true meaning of love or has it just
become a fassion to commit oneself in relationships and then announce
break-ups.

Anyways, if he is not in the strong position (which appears so from your
email),
then some pressure groups or mere simple policing can at least get him
out of the physical torture.
And then find your own way in terms of building an understanding
within your and the girl's family, have some earning prospects in mind
so that you can support yourself and your partner if not family.

But truly I doubt anyone would be willing to help beyond giving a
general guidance, because its an entirely personal issue which has got
nothing to do with disability whatsoever.

Amar Jain.

Voice Vision - NGO in Mumbai may be of some help. Ms. Shushmitha heads
the organization. She runs a matrimonial project for people with
disabilities. On her website one can register himself/herself in order
to look for a partner. For your friend's case, you can discuss the
case with her. I believe she can help you in consulting a professional
marriage counselor who has understanding of disability along with
marriage related issues. You can contact her on 022-4040

2014-05-13 Thread akshun mahajan
dear avinash we can not straight away suggest for police.
first of all we have to see his financial condition because to get
married is easy but afterwards he is not financial strong how would he
manage.
we have to see if he is working or student.
we have to see what is the point of view of the family.
because anitially everybody will be ready to help but after a while
nobody will take care of it.

If both he and his beloved are committed to tie the knod.
Then one can approach police and inform them about the harassment
meeted out to your friend.
Better to inform police before hand so that legal proceedings can be
innitiated against his family. And marrige can be solemnised in the
Court.

Re: [AI] urgent help needed on helping one of our visually impaired friend come out of his home as his family is torturing him a lot.

2014-05-13 Thread Neredimalli Annavaram

Dear Akshun,

I am in full agreement with you in supposing that unless the victim under
question is brave enough to stand for his decision, none of us can really be of
much use. I was only pointing out that since the boy seems to have been caught
up in four walls, some of us may intervene and see if some relief can be
provided. Of course, as you’re rightly hinting at, all this would be possible
only if he’s determined enough to fight in the long run.

Dear Farhana ,

If is the resident of Hyderabad, Kurnool, Vijayawada or Kakinada by any chance,
please let me know so that we can act immediately. Since he's house arrested,
as we understand from your mail, I don't think our usual advices would be of
any use. The only option would be for some of us to act, if the problem really
wants.

Why he's wanting help? If he is a legal, he can just move out of the house
and if he is capable of managing himself and his love? Ask him to take his
decision after thinking of his future.
