move container performance

2021-05-06 Thread Loon, Eric van (ITOP NS) - KLM
Hi everybody,

I need to move a lot of containers to empty a filesystem. The LUN used by this
filesystem will be moved to a new SP server afterwards.
The issue is that the move container process is soo slooow... At the
current rate it will take me weeks to empty one single filesystem (13.42 TB).
Running multiple move containers in parallel doesn't seem to help, they all
just run longer.
Has anybody struggled with this too and maybe found a solution? Thanks for any
help!

Kind regards,

Re: Lustre filesystem

2021-05-06 Thread Del Hoobler
Hi Zoltan,

Here is the statement with regards to file systems that are not directly
tested:

... NFS backups are supported, but the backups include only standard POSIX
metadata (access permissions, creation date, and so on). For more
information about backing up NFS file systems, see Backup network file
systems.

You can then see more details here about "Backup network file systems":

Lustre filesystem

2021-05-06 Thread Zoltan Forray
Our HPC folks just put up a new Centos server with a 2PB Lustre filesystem (
https://www.lustre.org/). The 8.1.12 client lists the TYPE as "UNKNOWN"
but has backed up the files in it.

Can someone from IBM give me a "non-committal" comment about whether IBM
intends to support Lustre and/or if the current client will have any issues
with properly backing up and or possibly restoring something from these
filesystems?
