Exporting TDP backups

2005-05-04 Thread Karla Ross
Does anyone have experience with exporting and importing a node that uses
Oracle or Sql TDP for its backups with TSM 5.2.3? Have you had success
restoring the imported data? Is there anything special you had to do?

Need help with select command

2004-08-26 Thread Karla Ross
I am trying to find the tapes needed to recover only the active backups
of a client. I used the following select command and it gives me a list of
all tapes for all backups of that client. How can I narrow the search to
just active backups?

select volume_name,filespace_name from volumeusage where -
node_name='CLIENT NAME' and stgpool_name='STGPOOL'

stopping active backup sessions at a specified time

2004-06-15 Thread Karla Ross
We have several applications that due to some performance issues have there
backups running longer than normal on some nights. Does anyone have a good
automated method to monitor backup sessions for a client and either stop
them at a given time if they are still running or notify someone that they
are still running?

Performing Full Client Backups with TSM

2004-03-02 Thread Karla Ross
I read this process on the IBM web page, my question is, my customer wants
different retentions on weekly full backups, monthly full, and daily
incrementals. Whats the recommended way to do this with TSM?

TSM V5.2.2

2004-01-07 Thread Karla Ross
We are getting ready to install a new TSM server running on AIX 5. I
wanted to install TSM V5.2.2. Is anyone running this version, and if so do
you have any comments, issues or tips?

Re: Unable to remove node!

2003-12-19 Thread Karla Ross
You can't remove a node if there are backupsets for it. Do a q volh
t=backupset

Query filespaces for that node. Delete filespaces, then you will be able to
delete the node.

Hello

I am trying to remove a node.

tsm: SPADAB-PRODrem node tremfk

Do you wish to proceed? (Yes (Y)/No (N)) y
ANR2152E REMOVE NODE: Inventory references still exist for node TREMFK.
ANS8001I Return code 13.

tsm: SPADAB-PRODq occu tremfk
ANR2034E QUERY OCCUPANCY: No match found using this criteria.
ANS8001I Return code 11.

So the q occu tells me that the node has no files, but the rem node says it
has??!
Any ideas??

I had something what sounds the same. TSM db on raid 5 (not anymore).
Extend
started, server seems to hang. Went home and came back next morning. All
went well.

Has anyone ever seen this, my tsm database is 100% full, I formated and
defined more volumes, and when you q dbv volume you see the new volumes,
but the extend db never works. When I enter q db I have 4052MB to extend
to but when I issue the command 'extend db 4052' it just hangs, no response
ever. I am running TSM v5.1.1 on a solaris. Any help would be great!

Hi Carla;

Try this. I got this from group.
It will also display the OS versions.

select platform_name as OS, -
client_os_level as OS_VER, -
node_name as Node, -
cast(cast(client_version as char(2)) || '.' -
|| cast(client_release as char(2)) || '.' -
|| cast(client_level as char(2)) || '.' -
|| cast(client_sublevel as char(2)) -
as char(15)) as Client -
from nodes -
order by platform_name, Client, Node

Re: TSM 5.1

2002-06-05 Thread Karla Ross

I have one server upgraded, AIX 4.3 running TSM 5.1.0.2. The issue I am
having is with copy storage pool. It will not use any tape unless the tape
has been previously used by the backup pool. I am working with TSM level
2. They are trying to duplicate this. I am getting the same results on a
new install Aix 4.3 running TSM 5.1.0.2. The tape library on the upgraded
server is a 3494 and on the new install its a 3584. Is anyone else seeing
this?

Has anyone yet upgraded to version 5.1 on AIX 4.3.3? If so please let us
