Re: RESTORE VOLUMES
Hi Garry CStringArray is a class in MFC (You shlould use ODBC to connect TSM tables and a Programming language) If you DO not use C++ or something like it. You have to use some script editor (PERL...) I use Norton Dos. Little example of script. SETLOCAL PUSHD C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM EchoC:\Command.txt select file_name from contents where volume_name='vol1' DSMADMC -id=admin -password=admin -noconfirm c:\Command.txt C:\Results.TXT POPD ENDLOCAL This will just generate a file with the file_name contents of the tape 'vol1' This is a basis. Hi Wouter ! Maybe I am not the best specialist to answer you but. We decide not to work the scheduler but with the SCRIPTS of the TSM ADMINISTRATOR. They have powerfull enough function to run Backup and DB-Backup regular operations. We didn't see any problem with the Service 'Server1' that can wake up. (we do an autorestart, if the service fails) - the other 2 machines always start the backup, but the client (tsm scheduler) crashes after a certain time, are amount of files. There is not really a fixed point where the service crashes. If backup is launched from the scheduler, dsmsvc.exe crashes, if we start the backup manually with dsmc incr, dmsc.exe crashes. Does anybody know what the fastest way is to solve this ? Problem 2 : - During migration from disk to tape, I can see (on the display) that the 2 tapedrives are not constantly writing data to tape, it's always writing for a short period of time, waiting for a longer period, writing, and so on ... Is this normal ? Is there anything I can check or do ? Shouldn't the tapestreamers really stream data from disk ? Did you format the files to receive the Database and recovery logs? Did you follow the Administrator's Guide for recovery based on your specific scenario? Re: anybody out there using AIT library?
We use here AIT2 and AIT1 library. Also API using and Migration Backup take (at least) 8 times more than it's written in the manual. Our configuation: Qualstar (3-4 different sorts) 3.7.4 NT4.0 sp6 Good luck. If you success to make it run only 1/2 than they say so please tell us !! Michel DAVID MARNET ISRAEL --- Salak Juraj [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi, I have offerts for 3575, LTO and AIT-3 / Qualstar libraries ( AIT-2 available, AIT-3 coming soon) but have only paper-based knowledges about AIT. Weighted Time-to-data performance, capacity and price ratio seems to be far the best with AIT for my needs, but I have no experiencies with this technology at all. Any suggestions? Disk Copy Pool
Hi Everybody. Thank you for precedent answers ! 3.7.4 NT4.0 (soon 2000) QUALSTAR AIT1/2 libs. API Used for Archives (not Copy Pool) Here's the new problem: We would like each day to copy the Archive Pool to a FILE pool up to 120 GB and flush this to a SEQ TAPE. We would like this disk pool to be empty every time we flush it and CONTINUE to fill IT FROM THIS POINT. Not from the begining. If I delete the created File Volumes, the TSM will try on the next backup to backup them from the begining ! Is there a trick ? Thank you Michel __ Do You Yahoo!? Find the one for you at Yahoo! Thank you Wanda Karel Richard etc You are all GOD ! I use TSM 3.7.4 on NT. If I wanted to delete some dbb volumes I used del volh type=dbb todate= 1) For now if I want to delete these FILE DBB, which instruction fo I have to use ? The Help on Del Volh is incomplete about the DEVCLASS=. and the use of this function with the parameter DEVCLASS returns an error. 2) If I want to restore a damaged DB I have to use RESTORE DB ? But there is no such function in the help. What is the exact syntax and how can I use the FILE-DEVCLASS DBB volumes to do it ? Thank you TSM'ers Michel DAVID MARNET __ Do You Yahoo!? Reclamation space / True occupancy
Shalom everybody TSM 3.7.4 Using TSM Administration Programming with API AIT1/AIT2 tapes. I need know - how much MB are really stored in a tape - how many % of reclamable space there is really - How much % of the tape can be used more (capacity of tape according to the same average compress ratio). The Estimated Capacity (MB) of the Volume inspection gives me numbers that I don't understand. Thank you very much Michel __ Do You Yahoo!?
