don't understand the select output
Hi There, I am trying to get sum information about the client capacity on the TSM Server. I am executing the following command. select sum(file_size) from contents where node_name like 'VOYAGER' and getting that following result. Unnamed[1] -- 292017475172 The real capacity on VOYAGER is 27 GB. It's seems to me that Voyager equipped 290GB of space on my library. so I checked a single file on the TSM server for VOYAGER with the following command. select * from contents where node_name like 'VOYAGER' and compared it to the real file on the client. the size of that file is 3 time grater on the TSM server compared to the file on the client. why is the values from the tsm are grater from the client?. Is that because of the number of the generation ?. Is the client voyager rely equipped almost 300 GB on my library ?. Thanks in advance. full backup question.
Hi all, Will I am restoring a big amount of data the restore take allot of time ( 1 GB per 3 hour ). I assume it's because of the incremental backup which store the data on several tape. If I will make in every Tuesday a full backup, is that will improve my restore time ? or the only solution for a good restore time in tsm is collocation ? Upgrade NSM 3.7 to TSM4.1
Hi all, I have NSM model-type 3466-C10 installed in my campus currently running 5765-D27 (Network Storage Manager V3.1). As you all know this NSM machine is a solution package from IBM includes the hardware and software as a bundle. Although we are entitled to receive the upgrade to 5765-E66 (Network Storage Manager V4.1) under subscription. I would like to know if I can upgrade the 5765-D27 to TSM 4.1 without any known problems? specially on DATA BASE level of these two products?? Re: event viewer reporting.
Hi Mark, I don't understand what is the "initial client setup" or were can I find it. Pleas send me more specific answer. I looked at the server help and find the command "disable event nteventog". do you think that would help? Best Regard Ofer Triple C. If you'll look carefully at the initial client setup, you have the opportunity to record (the default) or not record events in the log. If you'll uncheck the option, this behavior will stop. Also, if you have that many files that fail backup, you may need to review your include/exclude to whittle the list down. -- Mark Stapleton ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) begin:vcard n:Nachom;Ofer tel;fax:972-3-6080667 tel;home: tel;work:972-3-6080643 x-mozilla-html:TRUE url:www.ccc.co.il org:Triple C ;Triple C Technical Department adr:;;Shaol Ha Melek 37.;Tell-Aviv;Israel;x; version:2.1 email;internet:[EMAIL PROTECTED] title:Aix TSM System support fn:Ofer Nachom end:vcard

File size limitation
Hi There, Is there a limit for a file size to be backed up by TSM 4.1 ?. ( like 2GB of TAR or CPIO ) If so, how large can it be before we need to split it. 3494 define library in Win2K
Hi There, I have installed TSM 4.1.2 on win/nt2k and I need to connect the TSM server to a 3494 tape library.I have 2 x 3590 tape drive on that library connected to the TSM server through a SCSI Diff interface and another serial cable connecting the library to the TSM server from the serial cable. I have installed the drivers to the nt2k with the drivers i have down loaded from the ibm ftp site index.storsys.ibm.com/devdrv/win2000. the driver ware installed successfully. I checked the ntutils and the open close device test was successful. the next thing that I need to do is to define the library from the tsm command line. ( I defined the dsmserv.opt with enablelibrary3494 = yes ) and try to execute the define library command from tsm command line define library my3494 libtype=scsi device= x x x x .. but I only had the drives mt0.0.X in the NT OS, I couldn't find the library lb0.0.0.1 or something in the os . so what do i need to define in the define library from the tsm. is the serial port is the device ?
