Re: Missed drive backup
Hello Geoff, The errors you are getting seems to point to a permission issue. If the backup is working manually but not with the scheduler, I would suggest you to verify the drive g: properties - security. Then check under which account the scheduler is installed (normally SYSTEM) and add this account for that drive is necessary. Regards, Vo An Nguyen Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Gill, Geoffrey L. Hello Rachida, Are you logged in as root on the client? If not, please do so and run a dsmc q fi. This should prompt you to enter the password and the TSM client will encrypt again the new password. The administrator for your system must run TSM and enter the password to store it locally. How can I do this, I have already changed the password of each node from the server interface (dsmadmc). Re: FILESPACE_NAME vs. HL_NAME
Hello Mike, In UNIX, a filespace for ADSM is a filesystem. So in this case, it looks like the /work is the filespace unless you have mapped a directory like /work/data as a nfs at the time of the backup or perhaps you have used the client option virtualmountpoint. Hope this helps. The problem seems to be that the filespace_name and hl_names differ between the files, even though they were archived from the same place. Server: AIX, ADSM v3.1 Client: SunOS, ADSM v3.1 An example: select filespace_name,hl_name,ll_name,archive_date from archives where node_name='HUBER' and ll_name='BS0266' FILESPACE_NAME: /WORK HL_NAME: /DATA/MARTINE/ LL_NAME: BS0266 ARCHIVE_DATE: 2001-12-22 10:46:30.00 FILESPACE_NAME: /WORK/DATA HL_NAME: /MARTINE/ LL_NAME: BS0266 ARCHIVE_DATE: 2001-12-22 10:41:24.00 FILESPACE_NAME: /WORK/DATA/MARTINE HL_NAME: / LL_NAME: BS0266 ARCHIVE_DATE: 2001-11-20 05:38:10.00 Depending on how the client specifies the request, they will get a different version of the file. The question is, how does ADSM determine which part of the path is considered filespace_name, and which is hl_name? Thanks, Mike

Re: INCLUDE/EXCLUDE list processing...
Hello Gerardo, 1. No, because the exclude/exclude is processed from the bottom of the list first until a match is found. This will exclude all your files. Please refer to your client manual for more details 2. I will try something like include /* policy1 (below the exclude /.../* of course) 3. The include /t/tuxedo/bialog/.../* policy2 and include /t/tuxedo/procesos/.../* policy2 should be below the include /t/.../* policy1 Hope this helps. Re: how is a weekly FULL bkup scheduled?
Hi James, I believe this is working as designed. The client manual (TSM 4.1 for UNIX ) states under the exclude option for exclude.dir: "When you exclude a directory, you can still back up specific files within that directory, using a selective backup. However, the next time you perform an incremental backup, these backup versions are expired."
