You seem to do everything correct and if it does not work the best way is
to open a PMR with IBM. Try to rescreate the problem on another box.

I upgraded 4.1.6 -> 5.1.5 ->5.1.6.0 ->5.1.6.2 I don't remember the version
for the ITSM device driver as I went back but it was the latest available
on the tivoli server. But there was something peculiar : when I issued an
update all with the 5.1.5 cd, the devices were not updated and I had to
specifically install it.

To answer to you last question : I hope that the fact that the drivers
doesn't function is not normal ! :-))

Hello,

I juste upgraded my TSM server on AIX 4.3.3 to 5.1.6.2 from 4.1.6 and I
had
to reinstall the devices software at 4.1 level to have my Storagetek work.
The library functionned but the DLT1 drives where unable to read tapes. I
got the following message :

20.02.03   14:06:43  ANR8302E I/O error on drive DLT1.2 (/dev/mt1)
(OP=SETMODE,
  Error Number=22, CC=207, KEY=FF, ASC=FF, ASCQ=FF,
  SENSE=**NONE**, Description=Device is not in a state
  capable of performing request). Refer to Appendix D
in
  the 'Messages' manual for recommended action.

I just updated TSM to 5.1.6.2 and removed the drive and the library before
recreating them.

Did I do anything wrong or is it normal (I hope not)

StorageTek L20

2001-11-26 Thread mrkirra2001

Is anybody using the StorageTek L20 (with LTO drives/tapes) tape library
system with TSM (on NT)?
Link = http://www.storagetek.com/products/tape/L20/

If so, what is your experience?

Yes, right from the beginning when I first plugged it in and turned it on,
it showed up in the results of the probe-scsi-all.

Just in case anyone's interested in the outcome, I've finally got this
library working.

The suggestion from Tivoli was to have the operating system in 32-bit mode,
since other people with the same problem also were running in 64-bit mode,
and also to upgrade to the 3.7.4 server code.

First I tried booting in 32-bit mode (by doing "boot kernel/unix" at the ok
prompt) but it didn't help.
So then I rebuilt the server from scratch in 32-bit mode, and it still
didn't help.

Finally I upgraded to the 3.7.4 server code, and that did the trick.

to be at 3.7.4 or better.

Re: StorageTek L20 - need Solaris expertise

2000-11-15 Thread Kelly J. Lipp

I believe there was a pretty good description of how to do this in the TSM
Installation Guide for Solaris. You should be able to find it online of it
may have come with your software. My recollection was that you actually
deleted the device files, edited the .conf files and then reconfigured the
devices. I don't remember the exact syntax, but the book has it. If you
can't find the book yourself, echo back here and I'll try to find it.

Thanks,

Thanks - that seems to agree with what the book tells me too, although I
have to say it's not entirely clear about it. There ought to be a big
warning "Don't do a boot -r when you plug in the library".

Does anyone know how to remove library and drive devices from Solaris? Is
there a way that doesn't involve physically unplugging the SCSI cable? My
server is in a remote location, with nobody onsite able to help.

Larry, we have the same sort of config but on an aix node...before we can
define the library and drives we had to delete
them from the aix OS (rmt devices) and redefine them as tivoli storage
management devices (lib - lb0  drives- mt0)

Subject: StorageTek L20

Hi all,
I need help to get my tape library going.

It's a StorageTek L20, connected to a server which is TSM 3.7.2 on Solaris
7.

I've connected up the cables and done a boot -r (to get the OS to recognise
the new devices, which it appears to).
But when I try to define the library, the admin client just hangs.

Are there any OS tools I can use to test the library?

More details:
Robotics are accessed via SCSI - it should be able to work the same as any
other SCSI library.
Robotics and drive are on the same SCSI chain.
Library is target 0, drive is target 1
Cabling goes server->library->drive->terminator

Sorry, that's TSM 3.7.3 (was getting confused with clients)
