There is a redbook that discusses TSM implementation issues, "Getting Started with Tivoli Storage Manager: Implementation Guide". The publication number is SG24-5416-01. This book includes information on sizing your TSM database. You can find the book in HTML or PDF format at www.redbooks.ibm.com. Once you get there, just put "SG24-5416-01" (without the quotes) in the "Redbooks Search" box, and click "Go". It should locate the book for you. The formula, while correct, isn't very useful because nobody really knows (until they HAVE TSM!) what percent of files get changed. (Or what retention policies they'll be using...) I have a similar client whose database is about 10GB. You can just format space for a smaller one (say 2 GB), then add to it as it grows, rather than taking days to analyze what your needs will be.
