Re: Developer token pending approval for 3 weeks

2011-09-19 Thread Registrations Aggregate
Hi Kevin,

Thank you for your reply.

On the same day as your reply we got a request from the adwords api team for
further information on our application, which we supplied. Two days later we
got the api key. Status: approved :)

Three days later however, our status was reverted to rejected, without any
reason or even a short email explaining or warning us.

Could you perhaps shed some light on this, for us, mysterious process?

We would very much like to work with the api, and what I've seen of it,
those three days, looked very promising, at least to me..

Kind regards,
Marcel Oerlemans

About google adwords sandbox

2011-09-19 Thread Devin Yee
Hello everyone,
I'm feel doubt about google adwords sandbox using php sdk.

Edit auth.ini as following:

; Uncomment to make requests against a client account.

Also edit settings.ini:
DEFAULT_SERVER = https://adwords-sandbox.google.com;

But when I called GetAllCampaigns.php in command, I got 407 error.
Failed to get authToken. Reason: Received HTTP code 407 from proxy

Google states that it will take them 5-6 weeks for them to process the

SEMRush may not be the answer for you, or it may be only a partial

The sandbox is intended to test your code to see if it functions correctly

Re: MCC Billing and Liability

2011-09-19 Thread Kevin Winter
Hi,
You might want to ask in the general AdWords support forum regarding the
billing issues. It usually depends on how billing is set up, but generally
API charges are separate from charges for clicks, even if they are billed
under the same MCC.

You can use the InfoService to discover how many API units were consumed by
a given customer:
http://code.google.com/apis/adwords/docs/reference/latest/InfoService.InfoSelector.html

You should probably contact your CSR regarding the liability question.

Re: limits length keyword campaign etc length utf8 unicode

2011-09-19 Thread Kevin Winter
Hi Tim,
We've recently updated the help article linked off this page to clarify
that the characters are double-width and not double-byte (since single-width
characters can be multiple bytes):
http://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/answer.py?hl=enanswer=152058

The determination is made based on the display width of the character, not
the number of bytes. This mostly affects CJK languages. See the help page
for more details.

I've filed a bug to update the documentation on the limits appendix to
correctly reflect this change. Thanks for pointing it out.

The documentation on the limits page is otherwise correct.

Re: Rounding of conversion value in Keyword and Search Query Performance reports

2011-09-19 Thread Kevin Winter
Hi Greg,
The v201101 version of reports addressed a number of shortcomings of the
old v13 reports. As a result, some of the behavior may be different.
Regarding bugs, we recommend comparing the UI report behavior to the API
report behavior - if the two do not agree, we should either have it
documented or it may be a bug. It sounds like the UI behavior matches the
API behavior regarding this data? What if you run the report itself via the
UI?

I managed to find the ticket filed to track the issue reported on the thread
you linked. Despite being an older issue, the core engineers are planning
to re-evaluate this behavior in the near future to see if they can improve
this behavior.

In the meantime, please let us know if you can reproduce the UI reports not
agreeing with the API reports.

Re: Trying to access Google Adwords Sandbox API

2011-09-19 Thread Kevin Winter
Hi,
According to the jquery documentation, when you use GET as the method
type, it appends the data to the URL and specifies a callback (
http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.ajax/). The AdWords API unfortunately does not
support jsonp requests, so this will not work.

I'd suggest taking a look at the javascript client library:
http://code.google.com/p/google-api-adwords-js/wiki/Readme

The README (linked above) discusses various options for http transport that
work within the constraints of cross-site security.

Hi,
What Eric meant was that you should only provide an Ad object (
http://code.google.com/apis/adwords/docs/reference/latest/AdGroupAdService.Ad.html)

in the Ad field of the AdGroupAd object. If the Ad feed of the AdGroupAd is
populated with a specific type of Ad (as it is when you retrieve it), the

2011-09-19 Thread GregT
Hi, Keven.

Thanks for responding.

As for whether or not the UI behavior matches the API, I guess the answer is
yes, although it makes it harder for us to match the UI. :) The conversion
values for the individual keywords and ad groups are indeed shown as rounded
in the UI in the same way as the reports from the v201101 API provide them,
and the totals line in the downloaded report has the same totals as the UI
does.

The reason I say it's harder for us to match the UI is because the *totals* in
the UI and the downloaded report are not the sum of the rounded amounts from
the keywords -- it's easy to see if you pick a small reporting range (like a
single day) and include the total conversion value in the list of columns
for, say, the ad groups tab. The line with the totals will not (most
likely, just depends) add up to the sum of the total conversion values of
all the ad groups for the day -- it appears that the totals line is
calculated by taking the actual non-rounded conversion values (as given in
the v13 report), adding them up, then rounding that result to the nearest
tenth.

Obviously, if the API doesn't provide the non-rounded conversion values per
keyword, ad group, etc., we can't just add up the conversion values and get
a correct total for a day or any other time range. Presumably we can get
that from the campaign report, but we were hoping to be able to sum up the
values as we were previously doing -- but obviously that's nothing that
can't be overcome.

So, if the goal is for the API to exactly match the UI, I guess it is not a
bug or anything needing documentation, but I would suggest that it'd be
better for the API not to return rounded numbers and instead to let the
applications do the rounding -- rounding is usually something you do for
presentation purposes, not with your raw data (which is what the API data is
to everyone that is not at google). :)

Thanks again,
Greg

QPS error

2011-09-19 Thread webspade
Hi,

The link below states that theres a QPS rate limit on API calls.

http://adwordsapi.blogspot.com/2010/06/better-know-error-rateexceedederror.html

One of the proposed remedies for the problem is packing in many
requests in a single call. This is not always possible. For e.g. with
the TargetingIdeaService's RelatedToUrlSearchParameter call. We are
trying to request suggestions for multiple URLs in parallel, and run
into the QPS issue right at the process onset, after just a few calls.
Any suggestions?

Also, in general, are people using multi-threaded code to hit the API
with the same developer credentials?

TIA.

How would I get the Report Status

2011-09-19 Thread mahdi pedram
For reporting, For single-client requests, processing is synchronous so. is
there a way that we can determine whether the report is ready or not.
in the documentaiton says it takes only a few seconds to generate.

this functionality was exposed in V13 ( ReportInterface getReportJobStatus
). so I was wondering if it is still supported by the vendor.

Thanks

Re: QPS error

Some clarification; by are people using multi-threaded code to hit the
API with the same developer credentials? I meant all the threads making
requests using the same dev creds.

Hi,

I guess you are not using the AdWords API .NET library, right?

Re: QPS error

2011-09-19 Thread Anash P. Oommen
Hi,

It is possible to make multiple calls in parallel using the same devtoken.
While there is a check on the QPS limit, it is not fixed and depends on
various factors including the server load. I'd recommend reading this blog
on RateExceeededError to get a better understanding about QPS limits and
other rate limits that AdWords API enforces.
