Re: SET operator changes which Criterion fields (v201109)

2012-02-15 Thread Anash P. Oommen
Hi Brian,

Yes, that's the most likely explanation. As for an example, see
http://code.google.com/p/google-api-adwords-dotnet/source/browse/trunk/examples/csharp/v201109/BasicOperations/UpdateKeyword.cs.

I am updating only the bid of a keyword. I am not setting any fields I
don't need to update (e.g. status).

Cheers,

As discussed over the hangout, the error was coming due to a keyname

You are most likely trying to run a cross-client report, or your

Platform & Mobile Platform

2012-02-15 Thread mmasters

I'm looking at the following pages:

http://code.google.com/apis/adwords/docs/appendix/mobileplatforms.html
http://code.google.com/apis/adwords/docs/appendix/platforms.html

I'm also referring to
http://code.google.com/p/google-api-adwords-java/source/browse/trunk/examples/v201109/AddCampaignTargetingCriteria.java

I assume I use the same Platform object for both sets of CriteriaIds. Is
there any documentation on what to expect when different combinations are
used? For example, if I use 'Tablet' and 'iOS', does this mean I'm
targeting iPads?

Thanks,

Re: DestinationURL column in V201109 report?

2012-02-15 Thread G-Mo
As I understand the original question, the problem is that the v13
reporting "destinationUrl" column included the URL to which traffic
was actually sent when a click occurred for a specific keyword/ad
combination. This is what we care about in reporting as we need to
extract variables and tracking IDs from the URL.

The Reporting Migration Guide (http://code.google.com/apis/adwords/
docs/reportguide.html#ad_performance) maps the destinationUrl in the
v13 Creative report to the CreativeDestinationUrl column in the Ad
Performance report. This appears to be incorrect. This post -
(http://groups.google.com/group/adwords-api/browse_thread/thread/
2fbaa9779f33776c - explains the issue and, I believe, the correct
mapping (which, unfortunately, means you have to pull and join a total
of 3 separate reports to get the information in the v13 Creative
report).

I'm all for good data modeling, but this isn't really "reporting" any
more so much as it is pulling down a dump of tables and sorting it all
out ourselves. The Docs also refer to "cross-referencing" various
reports. Is there some way to "cross-reference" in the API that I'm
missing? Or does "cross-reference" actually mean "download these 3
reports, dump them into a database, then do a query that joins what
you want"?

Re: Logger login twice

2012-02-15 Thread Yada
Ok.  I figured out why.

PATH_RELATIVE = "1"
LIB_LOG_DIR_PATH = "../../../../../../../../../logs/"

The folder specified in my settings.ini does not exists so the library
uses the folder where AdsUser class resides.

As long as LIB_LOG_DIR_PATH exists it should be fine.

The code that does this is in AdsUser->LoadSettings();

Re: Determine account creation date?

2012-02-15 Thread j.e.frank
As you suggest, I am making semi-regular calls to the
ServicedAccountService to approximate account creation time. It's not too
bad. What I dislike about this approach is, it relies on our scheduled
jobs staying up all the time. If it goes down over the weekend, then I
will end up with some pretty inaccurate create times in my database when I
start it up again. Ironically, it is for the benefit of our Google account
reps that we want to track this data, since we send them a weekly email
with the list of new accounts that we've created during that week. (I say
ironically because Google is now taking away our ability to do this
accurately)

I was thinking about using the CustomerSyncService as another way to figure
out account create time. In the AdWords UI, you can go to the Change
History and see when the account was created. However, the
CustomerSyncService requires you to pass in an array of campaign IDs and a
timeframe. The timeframe could be fudged, but often our accounts are
created as "shells" with no campaigns in them, so that is not going to
work. Are there any plans to make these kinds of changes (not
campaign-specific) available in the CustomerSyncService? Or maybe there is
another way that I can infer when an account was created.

Add UserList to AdGroupCriterionService : CONCRETE_TYPE_REQUIRED Error

2012-02-15 Thread Pete Lavetsky (AdWords API Guru)
Hi All,

I'm trying to associate a UserList with an AdGroup through the
AdGroupCriterionService but am running into the CONCRETE_TYPE_REQUIRED
error which is described as:

"Concrete type of criterion (keyword v.s. placement) is required for
ADD and SET operations."

This isn't a keyword nor a placement so perhaps the documentation is
just bogus. Full request & response is below. I've messed around
with most combinations of setting & unsetting anything that has to do
with Type on both the Criterion and the AdGroupCriterion to no avail

Raw code example and xml logs to follow ... any help would be much
appreciated

Pete

CriterionUserList cul = new CriterionUserList();
cul.setUserListId( userList.getId() );
cul.setUserListName( userList.getName() );
cul.setType( CriterionType.USER_LIST );
cul.setCriterionType( CriterionType.USER_LIST.getValue() );

AdGroupCriterion adGroupCriterion = new AdGroupCriterion();
adGroupCriterion.setAdGroupId( adGroupId );
adGroupCriterion.setCriterion( cul );
adGroupCriterion.setAdGroupCriterionType( CriterionType.USER_LIST.getValue() );

AdGroupCriterionOperation operation = new AdGroupCriterionOperation();
operation.setOperator( Operator.ADD );
operation.setOperand( adGroupCriterion );

Missing SearchVolume Data in TargetingIdeaService v201109

2012-02-15 Thread Tsun
Hi,

this is a very urgent issue, as I'm migrating to v201109 due to your
sunset dates for older versions.

I'm trying to get searchvolume data for all 3 matchtypes (broad/phrase/
exact) for specific keywords through TargetingIdeaService, but
depending on my setup I just get data for one or two matchtypes, but
never all of them.

Let me illustrate with the following example:

Input Keyword: "kleider" (targeting Germany as country and Deutsch as
language), MatchType: BROAD
Defined KeywordMatchTypeSearchParameter: Array of 'Exact', 'Broad',
'Phrase'
If I use requestType 'IDEAS', I'll receive search data only for the
PHRASE matchtype of 'kleider', together with other keyword suggestions
(which may contain 1, 2 or all three matchtypes).
If I set requestType to 'STATS', I get data for BROAD matchtype, and
NOTHING ELSE.
When I EXCLUDE 'BROAD' from KeywordMatchTypeSearchParameter, i'll get
no results at all.

The web keyword tool interface of course delivers data for all three
matchtypes, as it is a high volume keyword.

I've already tried every possible setup for the matchtype parameters
and never get the appropriate result.
This issue applies to other keywords as well.
The old api version returns everything correctly, matching the data
from web interface.

I'm requesting immediate help cause that data is vital for me.
Thanks very much,

Bernd

Missing Keyword Data

2012-02-15 Thread michael s
Hi,

I ran a Keyword Performance Report and a Criteria Performance report
to retrieve all the keywords in an account. I noticed a discrepancy
between the ad hoc report results and the UI results.

One keyword showing as Deleted in the UI is coming over as Paused in
the ad hoc report.

Another keyword appearing as Paused in the UI doesn't come over at all
in either report. I also tried adding Status, AdGroupStatus, and
CampaignStatus filters to include all possible values. I am including
zero impressions in the report definition. I also removed all columns
except AdGroup ID and ID in the report definition but the keyword
still doesn't appear.

Thanks!

What Version Supports 10,000 GEO Targets

2012-02-15 Thread cdealar
My tech team setup our API app using version v201101 I know this version is
about to be depreciated but my question is this:

Version v201101 seems to have a 300 positive GEO target limit, is that
correct?

Does v201109 have a 300 positive GEO target limit or is it 10,000 now?

Thank in advance

Do you know when that documentation will be available? Or...
What are the other statistics that have this same behavior (D-2)?

Re: AdWords API on Java App Engine

2012-02-15 Thread Kevin Winter
Hi Vincent,
  We're planning to push another release of the new library (which will
include jax-ws support for AdWords) sometime next week. I'll post here
when we do.

Please note that we're still actively developing the new library and may
make breaking changes down the road. We'll make sure to announce when we
are satisfied and ready to support production use (hopefully before the end
of this quarter).

Hi Andrezza,
  The way Impression Share is done was recently changed:
http://googleadsdeveloper.blogspot.com/2012/01/upcoming-changes-to-adwords-impression.html

As a result, the data for February 13th won't be ready until just after
midnight on February 15th. We're working on creating a resource in our
documentation to clarify this (and other statistics).

Report contents are invalid error

2012-02-15 Thread Vizergy
Last night I received the below error message while calling the
GetClientReport(oDefinition) method for the
KEYWORDS_PERFORMANCE_REPORT report type. The report is pulling for
the previous days data so it is a small data set. I have many clients
to call the report for so I am calling the method in batches of 10.
When I ran the same method call today it ran fine and it has been
running fine for the last two weeks since I upgraded to v201109. I am
using v13.3 of the DotNet Client Library. I did notice a new version
(14) of the DotNet Client Library is now available, but I am not sure
if it will address this issue.

Error occured processing report:
Google.Api.Ads.AdWords.Util.ReportsException: Report contents are

Thank you for any help in advance.

Earnings in keyword performance reports

2012-02-15 Thread kzimmermann
Hi,

I'm pulling a keyword performance report (using v201109) for a client, who
uses Google Analytics to track his conversions.
Apart from the conversion metrics I would also like to get the earnings of
this client.
Looking into the documentation of v201109, I can't find any report field
name likely to be what I'm looking for.
In v13, this report field was called "SalesValue" (I think !)

What is the corresponding report field name in v201109 ? If there isn't any
report field for the earnings anymore,
how would I go about downloading the earnings ?

Thanks for any hint.

Re: Impressions zero and data metrics not returned

2012-02-15 Thread Andrezza
Thanks Kevin,

My other doubt is related with data metrics that we aren't
receiving

For example, if we run account and campaign reports at 06 AM - GMT-3
(Brazil - SP) of feb 14 with dateRange of yesterday (start date =
20120213 and end date = 20120213), should return IS data of day feb
13, no?
But, we weren't receive these datas.
Do you know why?

We realized tests in others times during the day feb 14 and retuned
nothing. Only today (feb 15) retuned IS of feb 13.

Remove all targets using V201109

2012-02-15 Thread sudhansu ray
Dear team,
1)can we remove all city targets for a campaign without passing city
criteria.
2)can we remove all geo target and add new target like this
 approach would be to :
get() all your targets,
and then merge the list with your desired list.
Remove all the common items between the two lists.
 Do an ADD for any items you find new in the list.
 Do a REMOVE for any item that is not required. (Derived from some of
your post)
3)So in java can u provide some simple example for this.
4)Without getting all targets can we achieve this?
Thanks,
Sudhanasu

How to create a report?

How to create a URL_PERFORMANCE_REPORT report using v201109 and not using

groups using v201109 and not using AdHoc Service?

I tried to create a report from web, but I can't insert the idenitifiers in
the report.

Re: SET operator changes which Criterion fields (v201109)

2012-02-15 Thread bgraves
Anash,

I don't understand what you mean since I am not sending fields for
updating using SET. I am sending the entire Criterion object
(required for AdGroupCriterionOperation)...
Dim operation As New AdGroupCriterionOperation()
operation.operator = [Operator].SET
operation.operatorSpecified = True
operation.operand = objAdGroupCriterion
operation.OperationType = "BiddableAdGroupCriterion"
operations.Add(operation)
Dim updateResult As AdGroupCriterionReturnValue =
AdGroupCriterionService.mutate(operations.ToArray())

Can you give an example of sending specific fields? Since I am only
setting the url in my selector when I first get the AdGroupCriterion,
maybe only that field is "specified" and the other fields don't get
updated after I change the url?

Re: AdWords API on Java App Engine

2012-02-15 Thread Vincent
Hi Kevin,

Thank you for the update and your work on this new Adwords java library.

I have been successfully using Adwords on GAE/java for a while with Fred's
patch
(http://penumbro.us/post/1135755221/adwords-api-on-app-engine-java-part-3).
But the patch does not support v201109 which will be the only version
running after February 29, 2012.

Do you think you will be able to make a release before this sunset date ?
Even a temporary experimental release would be great !
My original plan was to make an intermediate GAE/python, but this new
AdWords java library has created a glimmer of hope.

Many thanks

Vincent
