Product target level Max CPC using API

2012-11-28 Thread Tom
Hi,

I want to get and set the Max. CPC value assigned under the product target.
I am referring the 'product target' which is available under the Auto
targets tab on the Adwords interface. We have setup a Product Listing
campaign and we want to automate the product target level Max CPC bid which
is assigned to Product Listing adgroup. How I can get the Max. CPC value
through API?

Thanks,

: Janak Prajapati

Thanks Danial,

I'm assuming that since I still see the accounts in the AdWords web

Is there any way I can speed up the conversion of my new accounts to test

Get Keywords and the Name of AdGroup which they belong?

2012-11-28 Thread Mirror
Hello!

Can we get AdGroup name when we get keywords by using GetKeywords.php ?
 (it's AdGroupCriterionService).
I can't find it in array and in Fields.

When we get AdGroups from Company (it's AdGroupService), we can
use CampaignName in Fields, and we get Name of Company in array.
But where name of Adgroup, when we get keywords by AdGroupCriterionService?

Hi Chris,

The account should still be in the AdWords interface, and you can just make
a call to the API to see if it's working. I know that people I've been
working for didn't actually receive an email stating that their test
account was active, but I was able to use it with the API while other
accounts in the same MCC couldn't be accessed with their pending token.

I think that you need to enter the customer ID of your test account (as a

Re: best practices for preventing any interruption for API usage

2012-11-28 Thread S Naseweis
Hi Anash,
thanks for your clarification. Topic 1-4 seems obvious - I spend a lot of
time reading and trying to understand all the RMF and TC. If we fail with
basic stuff like keeping our contact information upto date, then it's
obviously our own fault. We are concerned about problems which might be
arise beyond our responsibility.
On topic 5: forums are not an official support channel where we can
get granted quick response times. That doesn't seem like
an appropriate option for business critical stuff.
Where do we find a list of AdWords API Advisors and how do we reach out to
them?

I don't want to be offensive, but our experience with Google support and
Google policy is quite mixed. In the past we (or some of our customers) ran
into trouble for no apparent reason. That's always a problem if
an algorithm decides about policy violations. In all those (rare) cases, it
was quite difficult to solve those issues. From what we experienced with
Google policy team several times, canceling a service comes out of sudden,
we had no chance to solve any of those problems in advance. So excuse me of
being skeptical that following all rules, TC, requirements etc will keep
our API access running all the time. Eg RMF and TC are not always precise
or applicable for a specific application.
It took me about 6 months to get our free API access running and lots of
repetitive copypaste emails, because I had to explain the same stuff over
and over. That didn't increase my confidence.

AdWords API TC allows only one developer token per company, so if you
apply for a second token, it will be rejected.
Thanks for this clarification. I didn't remember that.

We would be pleased if we could rest assure that API access will never get
canceled without giving us a chance of solving any issue in advance.

Keyword Performance Report BottomPosition, PreferredPosition always blank

2012-11-28 Thread road11
It would help a great deal if we could see our BottomPosition (lowest
position) and PreferredPosition (highest position) in our Keyword
Performance reports. However, those two fields always come back with two
dashes (--). I've made it a point to exclude all fields that could
prevent zero impressions from being shown (yet I still don't get any
zero-impression rows)

always coming back with no data?

I've included the following fields in the select list...

  AdGroupId,
  AdGroupName,
  AdGroupStatus,
  AdNetworkType1,
  AdNetworkType2,
  ApprovalStatus,
  AverageCpc,
  AveragePosition,

Re: TargetingIdeaService returns different numbers from the AdWords Keyword Tool

2012-11-28 Thread Jonathan Leger
Thanks for the extra information. I can pass that along to our clients so
at least they know we're not just incompetent. I find the AW API
exasperating because of things like this. Every other API we code for is
simple, straightforward and actually returns the results you would expect.
You would think Google with all their PhD's would be able to do the same.
But then, maybe that's the problem

If I find a workaround I'll post it.

Re: best practices for preventing any interruption for API usage

2012-11-28 Thread Anash P. Oommen
Hi Naseweis,

If you have an account manager at Google, that would be a fast way of
escalation in case of critical issues. If you don't have one, then try
using the AdWords phone support. AdWords API doesn't have phone support,
but if you mention that this is an API issue, your request will get routed
to our team and one of us will follow up with you over email.

AdWords API Advisors sign their posts as AdWords API Advisor and have the
Google badge against their name (e.g. I am an advisor). We monitor the
forum regularly, so if your issue is critical (e.g. API call is failing /
not working as intended), we will follow up with you at the earliest. IMO
one benefit of posting on the forum is that there might be another
developer out there who is facing this issue or has faced the issue in the
past, so you can get their take on the issue and usually a workaround for
the same. Plus, it can benefit other developers in the future.

Whichever route you choose to pick, it would be very helpful if you can
provide a sanitized (i.e. remove developer token, authToken, etc.) SOAP
request and response xml that illustrates your issue. That would save at
least a couple of mails back and forth, where we try to understand the
issue from the email, ask for your account, sample code snippet to
understand more details, etc. All client libraries have support for logging
SOAP requests, but in case you aren't using one, then I would recommend
using a https debugging proxy like Fiddler
(http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler2/) to capture your requests.

We do not disable a developer token based on algorithms, we always reach
out to the developers a couple of times before taking any action. However,
in practice, we find that developers tend to miss the email due to various
reasons, and would notice only much later once the application stops
working, since that's easily noticeable. That's why I iterated the point
about keeping the contact email updated and responding to email in time.

As I mentioned in my previous post, we announce all major changes on our
blog, you might also want to add the product blog
(http://adwords.blogspot.com) to your list.

If you have any questions about RMF or TC, my suggestion would be to
follow up with the token review team on the thread that they sent you when
they reviewed your developer tokens with any questions you may have.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions.

Cheers,
Anash P. Oommen,
AdWords API Advisor.

Re: Test account validation

2012-11-28 Thread dearaujoj
Hi guys,

Just to tell you that I have just received my test account validation email
and it works :-). it took almost a week.

Thank you

José

 Hi everyone,

We are working with Adwords API and so far we were doing good with the
sandbox system. For a few days now sandbox seems to be out of order with
the (UNEXPECTED_INTERNAL_API_ERROR) which occurs even with the examples
sent with the API toolkit. This is quite disturbing for our development
process and we were not expecting it as according to schedule sandbox
should sunset on 15th of december.

We did apply for test account last week but so far we've got no news and
there is no place where we can have feedback about it.

Is it possible to have details about our test account validation ?

 Regards

 José

Hi,

Sandbox has issues right now, plus it is deprecated. My suggestion is to
get a test account and migrate your code to use test accounts. See this
thread for more details:

Re: Do we need MCC acount Credentials or normal adwords account Credentials in adwords.properties for version 201209

2012-11-28 Thread Anash P. Oommen
Hi Kapil,

You can provide either the MCC credential or AdWords credential, but you
also need to provide the adwords customer id on clientCustomerId header.
Also, QuotaCheckError.INCOMPLETE_SIGNUP means that you haven't completed
the signup process. You can fix this by logging into your API MCC account,
navigating to Billing-Billing Preferences and entering billing details.

Cheers,

Re: How to pause Keyword

2012-11-28 Thread Anash P. Oommen
Hi Orlovskiy,

You can refer
to
http://code.google.com/p/google-api-adwords-dotnet/source/browse/trunk/examples/adwords/csharp/v201209/BasicOperations/UpdateKeyword.cs

for an example. This example updates bids, you need to update the
userStatus field instead.
See
https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/latest/AdGroupCriterionService.BiddableAdGroupCriterion#userStatus

for details.

Re: reporting returning ERROR_GETTING_RESPONSE_FROM_BACKEND errors?

 Hi all,

Has anyone else been seeing these?

 AdWordsReportError: HTTP code: 500, type:
 'ReportDownloadError.ERROR_GETTING_RESPONSE_FROM_BACKEND', trigger: 'Unable
to read report data', field path: ''

We're getting this when pulling both AD_PERFORMANCE_REPORT with a
predicate listing 100 ad group ids, as well as when pulling a
KEYWORD_PERFORMANCE_REPORT with a predicate listing many more ad group ids
 (~5K, I believe).

I checked the docs and the forum, and couldn't find an explanation of
what ERROR_GETTING_RESPONSE_FROM_BACKEND meant, or what we could reasonably
expect to pass in as far as the size of a predicate values list.

Should we just be catching these errors, and resending with a smaller list
 of values?

 Thanks,
 Dave
